I never realized the mandrill cheif raised wukong for 1,000 of years from the time of his birth throughout his rebellion and imprisonment and death and mourned her adopted son for another 500 years looking for ways to ressurect her son and not knowing his reincarnation son in the form of the destined one beought her to tears and laughter made me emotional.
I'm 100% convinced Bajie would live on Mount Huaguo with Wukong. Spending all day partying and eating fruit right off the tree sounds like his kind of place
I’m so fortunate to have found you while playing BMW - I just finished my first play through and your videos greatly enhanced the whole experience. Thank you! Food for thought - I would be a lot more inclined to spend my money on a new game release if I knew that it is accompanied by lore videos like yours.
I've spent the last week to finish your whole series about the game, and all I can say is WOW! Finding this channel is the best thing ever, even though I've never watch a C-drama in my whole life. Since the release of the game, I've been playing it and finding content creators who made content about it nonstop, and at least for me right now your channel is the best even without any gameplay showing in the videos. Being a Vietnamese kid, Journey To The West 1986 version and the book version are my whole childhood, and there is nothing better than hearing a true Chinese person telling the story. Your knowledge about the story and everything related to it is just amazing, also the storytelling is top tier level. I got goosebump everytime you use Chinese words, since in Vietnam we have something called "Hán Việt" which is the way we "speak" Mandarin in the old time, so I can imediately recognize what you're refering to. I'll give you a sub even tho I'll not watch dramas, just so you know there is a new fan who is going to wait for your videos until the DLC comes. Thank you for this amazing BMW playlist, see you again soon!!!
Thank you very much for your videos. You are very knowledgeable about this book and explain everything very well for us foreigners. I'm from Brazil and I've learned so much about the game and the book and Chinese culture watching your series of video. They are long videos and probably hard for you to produce, but I honestly didn't notice the time passing. Probably will watch them all again soon. Surely most people, myself included, would really appreciate it if you continue to make more videos about the book and the game. Again, thank you very much.
Thank you so much for all this time you spend researching, playing and creating those videos. These mean so so much to many people. And it makes me so glad seeing that this game awakened the interest for chinese mythology in western society. Your videos are so easy and comforting to watch yet so informative. I'm sure I can speak in the name of many saying " We appreciate you
A huge thank you from Brazil! This is definitely the best lore series on TH-cam. Trust me, I searched a lot, as it is pretty hard to find good material in Portuguese (even the book Journey to the West is not fully translated into Portuguese). Of course, we would love to hear more about your impressions of the game and Game Science's approach to Wukong's story.
You've worked so hard on this series and has really inspired me to incorporate some of these myths into my Dungeons and Dragons campaign! Ty for all your hard work
Amazing review, you cover everything there is to know for the game, be it lore, in game content or irl context. I'm glad I discovered you while playing BMW and I'm looking forward for future game lore explanations if they come up.
31:56 “Absolute Cinema!” I love your goofiness here, it’s rather charming. I’m eternally grateful your channel exists! We sincerely appreciate you for this Black Myth lore series and looking forward to your next one. Definitely wanted to know your thoughts on other aspects of this game now that you’re on NG+++ (one boss away from getting that Wukong Stance), especially when the DLC comes out. Live long and stay awesome, madam! 💚🍀
This is the most amazing and detailed explanation and analysis of this game! I truly loved every episode and it is insane how much charisma you have! :) I want to visit china again :P
Just wanted to thank you for doing this series, I’ve really loved it. I found the story to be hugely compelling and your interpretation/explanation has really enhanced the whole experience for me (in particular the Zhu Bhajie and Violet Spider story). I hope your channel finds even more success, you deserve it. Thanks again from a Scottish guy!
Omg i was in the middle of rewatching your Qin video and this video showed up! I am so happy for this new update, been waiting every day for it. Thank you!
Thank you for adding so much not only to this game but to the book which my 10 year old son has now read and from us watching and talking about sun wukong even my 4 year daughter talks about bajie. Your translation of a lot of the emotional aspects of names and relationships of the characters if by far the best I've seen on journey to the west and largely through you and this game a ten year old and 4 year old are playing with a broom and a rake in a garden in Wales in the UK. Thank you
I appreciate your explanations and perspective on the story. Really helped me understand what was going on. I am now interested in reading the originsl story of sun wukong! Thanks🎉
Thanks for taking time to post these videos, they were great and informative. Some people interpret the headband as an epitome of discipline, rules, and humanity-after all, Wukong is a monkey, but many believe it is a shackle against freedom. Given that the developers of this game embraced tons of hardships to break free from technical, cultural, financial, and bureaucratic challenges, I think that the true finale of Wukong's story in this game is a superhero who wears no chains. I am very curious about Erlang Shen’s brothers because I read they’re from two books combined. I also curious about the 4 Loong brothers you fight in the game too, maybe a separate video about that.
Hi, AvenueX, one thing that i noticed is that the Broken Shell boss is basically a parallel to the Six-eared Macaque. In both fights the combatants use the same moveset, are identical, and represent a duality of minds, with the one that embarked on the journey having to defeat the embodiment of the six senses to truly become one.
Thank you for making these videos. In my opinion, no one in the whole world comes even close to the knowledge that you have and the detail that you put into your videos for this monumental game. Please become the official translator for Game Science!!! Some of the English translations are not that good.
For me, the Moment from this Game that I will ALWAYS cherish is when the Destined One heads towards Water Curtain Cave & see Ruyi Jingu Bang (Comply Gold-Hoop Rod) in ALL of it's Iron-Black & Gold-Ringed Glory! Where we not only get a VERY Heartwarming Moment of Zhu Bajie/Wuneng playfully reenacts a Moment from Chapter 30 (if you know, you know) from the Original 1592 Novel & but seeing the Destined One trying to lift the Gold-Hoop Rod (which to remind you, weights 13,500 Catties) was like seeing a Prince fully accepting his Role as a King & a Warrior! Or Trickster in this case, but still...
Dear Ms. X. Thank you so much for making all these videos related to the video game. It gave me all that more appreciation to have an understanding of the culture shown in the game and hearing so much of the lore related to the culture.
I really enjoyed listening to your wukong videos along! I can't play because of school so I really enjoyed how u relate it back to the original journey to the west !
Actually there is a reason why the game has nothing in chapter 6 for you to collect or interact with. Its explained in erlang's lore page. The heavenly soldiers there ranted that they dont get anything of value and think that the real treasures are in water curtain cave. This means that the eastern heaven force is turning every rocks and already take anything of value aside from those bosses we fight and the old armor.
In NG plus Eurlang spear is the best way to fight him. With spell binder and thrust stance. I absolutely love your videos. They are so lively, fun and informative.
This series was amazing to help understand Black Myth Wukong more. Really hope you make another video on the game! Am already looking forward to the DLC. Thanks and hope to see more of your content.
I don't think I can thank you enough for all the time and hard work that you poured into the game. I hope that this series will bring you into a higher degree of exposure. Also, I have heard that Game Science is planning to do another Black Myth series, this time based on Investiture of the Gods. If they ever made it, I hope you can cover it as well. Until then, live long and happy game playing/drama watching
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU I have watched all your Black Myth Wukong videos and they are all so informative and interesting. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. We really appreciate your effort and especially you!
thank you! this was very very well put together. please make another video!! i'm personally curious about the trailers that were dropped throughout the time before the game was released. there are many things in there that wasn't included for example a young voice and an older voice talking about whether or not evil wins over good. either way amazing work and looking forward to more knowledgeable gems from you!
About the secret armor, I don't think its defence is ever based on your level. It does increase based on the number of relic points you have, so you need three playthroughs to fully max its defence. Thanks for another vid. Equally impressed with your knowledge over both Journey to the West, and Black Myth Wukong's gameplay. Your vid on chapter 5 revealed gimmicks I didn't know existed, and I played the game twice at that point. And, yeah, I killed the whole 'stone' family. Unlocking portraits was more important than sparing a family :p
Thank you for the video. Good one as always. I think the animation showed the sequence of JTTW in reverse order to illustrate/simulate the destined one's recovery of Wukong's final mind relic and memories...
My high school Chinese teacher specifically shared the method with her students when introducing Journey to the West. I think some Asians should know that because of the chapter arrangement, Wukong's journey is actually like the Ship of Theseus, and also like life. Reading the chapters in reverse will bring you different ideas.
Thank you for all of the video. I personally think the quality get a bit down after chaper 3 (which is probably the longest and best chapter). Chapter 4 quite okay but you can feel it is going down a bit. Then chapter 5 was very linear and a very huge section of "running" without anything in between chapter 6 was basically just fighting a few bosses.
Yes please do more videos of this game or Journey to the west in general. I enjoyed every video you made of this game. Sadly I’m not a Chinese tv show enjoyer so I’d probably not watch your other videos. But next time you make a video game video I’ll be here to watch it.
I believe the "lion form" is supposed to be Erlang representing the Wisdom Buddha who is often depicted holding a flaming sword in his right hand while riding or just sitting atop a blue lion and when everyone is saved and he attains perfect enlightenment, will be known as Buddha Clear Sight(possible play on the third eye) and as for the skulls, the same Buddha in some Tibetan schools becomes Yamantaka or "Destroyer of Death".
I will really miss this series. Every week I look forward to watching these videos. I really do hope that they make DLCs for this game to cover all the other great antagonists from the novel like the Shi Tuo Ling trio, the 九靈元聖 (9 spirit saint? He's story is so interesting and he's actually quite a nice guy and revered as the patriarch of a bunch of lion guai). Also the 九頭蟲 (9 headed beast/bird) would be nice to see. He was more than a match for Sun Wukong, Erlang Shen, Zhu Bajie and the Meishan 6 at the same time. He's the only guai that was never killed or tamed and brought back to heaven. Dude only retreated when he got outnumbered and Xiao Tian Quan made him lose a head- truly the Lu Bu of Journey to the West. Also, even though they are dead in the novel, the 6 eared macaque and scorpion demoness were such great antagonists with the latter being the only female guai and one of the few characters that could fight off Sun Wukong without trickery or magical weapons. The other 2 elemental monkeys did not appear in the novel, so maybe one of them can replace the 6 eared macaque in the DLC.
*Yay I've really enjoyed these! Watched them all in the past few days!* :D There seems to be a lot of china inspired and/or chinese made video games lately and its nice to see. So much of videogames is either western medieval or japanese stuff and I think we'll be seeing a lot more chinese games in the next few years. Woudl you consider playing some of those games and making educational videos about them? Perhaps WoLong? hehe
Thank you for this series ! I’ve enjoyed listening to every chapter after I finished the game. In fact your explanation of the lore enhanced my enjoyment of the game greatly. Otherwise it’s just one stupid boss fight after another
This is all over my head. I have never read Journey to the West/ Monkey King and only watched one adaptation. I know very little about all the mythology and lore surrounding it, and I dont play internet/video or computer games of any sort😅. But I listened to some of what you said and it sounds quite interesting. I might make my friend play this game and maybe I can watch him and learn along side him...
Thanks a lot for all your Wukong videos! They are excellent ❤ Thx for the tip on the hidden armor. My guess is same as yours, we will probably see blue lion, white elephant... in the DLC.
I would love to see a video talking about your own interpretation of the True Ending. some say that Erlang had the sixth relic, other believe that it was not a relic but just mere memories. And some say that Wukong was reborn, other say that the mind of the destined one and Wukong were merged, meaning that's one body with two minds and the real Wukong is forever gone.
Thank you for making this series, your videos are amazing. It must be difficult to make all these videos just know that your fans appreciate all your hard work 😁🥰❤️❤️
Thank you so much for this journey. I really appreciate the time and effort put into it. Very detailed and I can’t wait for your next video of this Chinese lore. Keep the good work and I know your hard work will pay off in 10 folds. Am a huge fan❤❤❤
Watch all the videos from the Wukong series, I loved it! I hope we have more news about the game in the future so I can continue following your videos!
i'm very glad you brought up the final few bosses not being as polished. The Rhino is boring, the cricket is a gimmick, the Mantis does WAY too much damage for how much he attacks, and the Cloudtreading Deer has a list of problems by itself. P.S I think your clothes and jewelry are very pretty and look nice on you; I especially like the colors you chose for your outfit in this video
Gracias! Thanks for your hard work, we learned a lot. I'm currently in NG+ enjoying it even more thanks to your insight, I'm now the expert on Black Myth Wukong lore, passing this knowledge to my friends.😂
There is more than 1 shrine in Chapter 6. The second shrine is next to the tree where uncle Zhu catches the mantis. The third shrine closes to the battlefield where you fight the armor rhino.
thank to you! this was awesome i love the lore and help me a lot to understand more about the culture and story of journey to the west. also I love this chapter honestly its true the maps its mostly empty but it was really beautiful!
Thank you kindly, your series is fascinating and enjoyable. I really appreciate it and love it. Please make more content like this when they release the DLC 😊
The sentence is: "We are one" if the Wukong could not escape the Buddha, because the Buddha is one with everything, then Wukong is when he reaches Buddhahood, aware of it too. So the old monkey, Erlang, everyone are in there core one and the same. So to break free from the shackles, all Wukong needed to realize, was that he chained himself.
Thank you so much for all the wukong lore videos with all your perspective on this game too... Eventhough i from Malaysia but I'm also grew up in with the legend of sun wukong alot. Now I've finished my 3rd playthrough and it still feel surreal to play a character that I listened alot when I was a kid. Your lore video do explain alot more to me and gave many windows to people out there to play wukong and know more about journey to the west...again I thank you ❤
I think the reason the story is not super spread out like AvenueX said, if I'm not mistaken, I read that black myth was supposed to be multiple chapters 15/18 so they probably had to compress the story. You can piece everything together by reading the portrait, but yeah, some of the information is not all there.
This has been an amazing series. If you continue it I would like to hear about your thoughts on the book The Legend of Wukong and possible settings for DLC
About Erlang combos. By digging in the game data he actually got 72 attacks ( the 72 tranafomations ). Also he will comment on some of transformation like the Yellow dragon where he says that he defeats the 4 brothers by himself
Don't thank us, thank you for having the best lore series because you understand it more than anyone
Thank you for making this series to the end! I have enjoyed every single one of them and I hope your hard work will be reflected through viewership.

My beloved, Avenue!!! I've waited so long for this video, haha!
I have been waiting for this. Thank you so much. I’m visiting China one day. It’s settled.

Thank you for this series of videos. I'm not much into dramas but I would greatly appreciate more on Chinese mythology.
Even a more detailed breakdown on The Journey to the West.
Awesome job. I watched every video and I'm amazed how game science even got non gamers into the game! What a feat!
Absolutely amazing series , love every bit. The history of the original journey to the west story is very appreciated great job great videos
I’ve really enjoyed your breakdown of each chapter of the game and would love to see your further insights.
I so so much appreciate you making this series!
Thank you for making these videos. In my opinion, no one in the whole world comes even close to the knowledge that you have and the detail that you put into your videos for this monumental game. I loved listening to these breakdown videos. Thank you for your insight it was great to get the back story on these things.

Love your long Black myth Wukong videos~
Thank you for all these videos! I love how detailed and comprehensive they are.
Thank you for making this series, your videos are amazing. It must be difficult to make all these videos just know that your fans appreciate all your hard work 😁🥰❤️❤️
Never knew the lizard type dragon in the stage was actually the white clad noble extra form. It's actually very interesting. I love the video.
Thank you so much for this journey. I really appreciate the time and effort put into it. Very detailed and I can’t wait for your next video of this Chinese lore. Keep the good work and I know your hard work will pay off in 10 folds. Am a huge fan❤❤❤
I learned so much! Thank you very much, I really enjoy those kind of videos and I hope you'll make more!
thank you for creating this series and posting all the way to the end!
Watch all the videos from the Wukong series, I loved it!
I hope we have more news about the game in the future so I can continue following your videos!
Thank you for making such amazing series!
i'm very glad you brought up the final few bosses not being as polished. The Rhino is boring, the cricket is a gimmick, the Mantis does WAY too much damage for how much he attacks, and the Cloudtreading Deer has a list of problems by itself.
P.S
I think your clothes and jewelry are very pretty and look nice on you; I especially like the colors you chose for your outfit in this video
One thing to note that the giant grasshopper actually has health bar, but you cannot beat it. :)))
Zootopia: The Violent Version
I've never laughed so hard, because when you think about, it's pretty accurate to an extent.
thank to you! this was awesome i love the lore and help me a lot to understand more about the culture and story of journey to the west. also I love this chapter honestly its true the maps its mostly empty but it was really beautiful!
Please create more content on this or the rest of the Four Great Classical Novels. I'm really hooked to your detailed explanation
I love this series and I hope you do similar ones in the future! I've learnt so much.
Wooooo! The last chapter is here!
I love credit (cover) song after bad ending, that and "Nonsense" are my most fav.
Many thanks for completing the game! 🐒
This was an awesome series, the best on the topic and I would love to hear more of your insight on it.
Thank you so much and warm greetings.
Yessss. Give us more exposition and lore!
Thank you kindly, your series is fascinating and enjoyable. I really appreciate it and love it. Please make more content like this when they release the DLC 😊
Hello AvenueX, gorgeous dress!
Hoping the DLC comes soon enough so you can talk about it as well
Thanks a lot for this series . I enjoyed the adventure into the game lore greatly
Please do another vidro about the aspects of the game. 🎉🎉🎉
Loved your video! ❤❤❤
Realising that would be a prerequisite of becoming Buddha, and Wukong achieved that.
Thank you and yes please an extra video.
Great job! Very detailed explanation served me well even though I've already read JTW so many times. 👍
Great video series
Thank you so much for all the wukong lore videos with all your perspective on this game too... Eventhough i from Malaysia but I'm also grew up in with the legend of sun wukong alot. Now I've finished my 3rd playthrough and it still feel surreal to play a character that I listened alot when I was a kid. Your lore video do explain alot more to me and gave many windows to people out there to play wukong and know more about journey to the west...again I thank you ❤
this is so good, i need more wukong's content
thank you for all these videos, very well done!
I think the reason the story is not super spread out like AvenueX said, if I'm not mistaken, I read that black myth was supposed to be multiple chapters 15/18 so they probably had to compress the story. You can piece everything together by reading the portrait, but yeah, some of the information is not all there.
Great video! Hey, I heard that Game Science put a super ultra secret special ending if you beat the game 342 times...🙃
I would love more videos on this game. I hope that you could find the time to make more!
This was an amazing series and I would definitely follow the video on your views about the interesting parts of this game.
Thank you for these amazing videos! I really enjoyed it 👏🏻
We are here!!!!!!
All BMW players should subscribe to your channel !!! What a gem !!!
This has been an amazing series. If you continue it I would like to hear about your thoughts on the book The Legend of Wukong and possible settings for DLC
I'm here for it! =)
yes please!! more and more video on the game or the novel is very much appreciated~
About Erlang combos.
By digging in the game data he actually got 72 attacks ( the 72 tranafomations ).
Also he will comment on some of transformation like the Yellow dragon where he says that he defeats the 4 brothers by himself
