The dictionaries definition of 'Maw' ( The name of this establishment/ship ) is a gluttonous person or mouth, Also this games working title was "Hunger'. It seems like the overarching theme here is gluttony.
I think six got locked up because her mother (don't no how to spell)heard she was going to steal the mums powers to destroy the world or something so she tried to kill and warned people to kill six on sight that's y everyone attacks so six's mum is trying to protect everyone not hurt them Ps six is a psycho
I'm pretty sure there's something in the meat that makes people go insane. Notice how Six always waited till the last minute to eat something, maybe she knew what the price was for eating? A lot of her eating habits started going weird when she ate the raw meat. She went from bread, to raw meat, to the rat, to the gnome, then the lady, and then souls...
Also, the idea about Six working at the Maw is kinda of supported. There's a lot of nooks and crannies exactly her size, and lots and LOTS of doors that seem to be built just for her (or some other little people in the Maw?)
This kinda reminds me of Spirited away, in a sense a little girl loses her way through a restaurant and must "fit in" in order to find her parents which who have turned into pigs for the spirits to eat. Just saying, similarities are there.
I thought if this also !! The thing that gave it away for me was the masks, the building type and how the guest have all turned into animal type creatures and eat like pigs which is what kind of happens in the movie.
I have a few thoughts and mini-theories. Here's the first: the main staff is made up of the Geisha, the two chefs, the janitor, and, if you count the costumed bloke from the convention, the bellboy. That's a total of five characters. I don't think it's coincidental her name is Six, if you see my point, which leads me to believe that either she did work there at some point (like in the concept art) or that she really is the Geisha's daughter. The Geisha is extremely vain, and is insecure about her beauty to the point where she smashes all the mirrors in her quarters, covers some of the finer photos on the wall, and serves hoards of extremely fat and ugly guests on a regular basis. I think it's gone even a step further from that: could it be that the staff members are wearing ugly costumes to make them appear uglier to her? It would certainly make sense with the chefs, where they lift and scratch underneath their faces, and with their shapely necks looking particularly unattached from their backsides. And it would definitely make sense with the bellboy, if the bellboy had removed his wax-dripping costume and hung himself as the regular person he really was. Not certain about the janitor... maybe he was disfigured on purpose? Or was he that ugly baby featured in the photos? I also have an idea that the bellboy was actually a security guard of sorts. Since there was a camera linking directly to the inside of the Geisha's quarters, I'd think that maybe this fact was kept secret from her, since I can't fathom someone so insecure about image to have a camera trained on them while they brush their hair in front of a smashed mirror. I think the mirror in the guest bathroom was one of those mirrors where, on one side, you only see yourself, but from the other side, you're looking through it. Like a spy mirror, or something. (Can't remember what they're called.) Also I don't think that Six was "sent", but rather "banished". I am far more convinced about the "Six is too beautiful for the Geisha to handle" theory, especially with those photos of a little girl in yellow on the Geisha's bedroom wall. Also, keep in mind that the Geisha always has a white powdered face and heavy makeup. Is that a mask? And no, I don't mean metaphorically. Is that a physical mask? If so, could the ugly baby in those photos you mentioned be the Geisha herself? That would certainly explain her insecurity from the get-go. Sorry if that was a little long. Those are my theories that I thought of after watching your video.
I totally agree with this comment because the little girl in the paintings that is supposedly Six looks a lot like Six in the concept art for the game 🤷🏻♀️
Human meat is high in calories. The more calories you eat, and not burn, the bigger you get. The adults have been fed the children meat, so that they would become fat, ugly and crazy. This would explain why they want to attack you, because they have become mad with cannibalism. The chefs prepare the food, as they have been threatened by the Lady, who would kill them if they don't prepare the children meat. The reason they don't eat all the food like the other adults, is because they aren't like them. They just wear suits to make themselves look like them, as the chefs serve the adults, and if they didn't wear the suits, the adults would attack the chefs. The kid-napper has been lied to. He is blind, so he cannot tell what meat he is preparing. For all he knows, he's preparing baby pork, or baby beef. As for looking after the children, he does not know that these children are being fed to the people, and as for trapping them, he believes he is trapping pests, and shipping them along to be disposed of. The lady's power only works on people who make eye contact with her, and since the kid-napper/long arm guy is blind, it is ineffective on him, and the lady knows that, that is why she put him at the lowest part of the Maw, the prison/nursery. The lady knows that the adults will become fat, crazy and ugly when they over-eat all the human meat, and she is doing this so that she can be the only pretty one, the only sane one, and she would oppose anyone who would even seem in the slightest bit, sane or pretty. That is where Six comes in to play. The lady realized that Six, her child, could be possibly even prettier than herself, as well as being smart, agile, and exceptionally sneaky due to her size, and the father, or the long, dangly legged man that was hung, knew that she would become mad with envy, and kill the daughter, so he convinced her to send her to the jail/nursery to stay there forever... or until she was fed to the people. Knowing this, the father decided to take that risk. The father then shortly after, broke Six out of the prison/nursery, and took her to a little room, at the bottom of the Maw, where he told her the plan to take the Lady out of rule, as she was beginning to act like a tyrant, and that is what the father feared. After conveying the plan to Six, the Lady came down unexpectedly, so he had to improvise. He put Six in the suitcase, and threw it out into a little area, and hung himself, because he wouldn't be able to handle the loss of his love, or the grief if the plan failed, because the lady would find out that he did it. When Six awoke, she had hit her head on the roof of the suitcase, and developed amnesia, this is why she cannot remember any of the people onboard. She remembered only one thing: The lady must be stopped. that's my theory anyways :P
Chrispified that is a really good theory but what about the shoes, and the mannequin at the ladies room and if you remember the big room where you fought "your mom" at the back you can find another big eyes probably another security camera so she asked the chef to hunt for you, because if she doesnt tell the chef, then why would the chef try to kill you even though they probably know that you are the lady daughter and the father would tell them also that dont kill you/six because you will try to save them but because they'e afraid of death they listen to the lady has ordered them to do.... MAAAN why are there soo many theory !!!
as the game progresses, you start to get hungry and eat. as the game goes on through the incredibly short story, the things you start to eat become more grotesque as you go on like how it starts off with normal food and then progresses to a rat, a small mushroom person and then the woman. i started to wonder who was the real monster and looking at the title of the game it is called little nightmares. you are small compared to everyone making the game have a sense of futility and danger but as you continue to eat, you become more of a monster yourself. when you finally gain your power after devouring the woman you become... the little nightmare...
Update, i just found out about the evil six easter egg in the hunger seqeunces and im guessing that is the incarnation of six before the nightmares, that laid dormant before she ate and gained power
Every explanation video I go to never says anything about the man in the beginning who hung himself, which I'm 90% sure is the "dad". Which you pointed out. also a little passage from "The Maws" description on their website which has a bunch of information on the games characters and places. "The Maw arrives every year. Always at the same time, but never in the same place, it creeps and crawls and buries its claws deep beneath the glistening water. And there it sits in vast silence. Waiting. Soon after, they start to arrive. The guests. The monstrous, sweating, hungry guests. All seams bursting, bodies bulging, eyes dead with boredom. They shuffle up the gangway and into the mouth of The Maw. And then they are no more. For none of those that enter have ever returned to tell the tale. At least, not yet…" My theory is kind of like the first one but her name is Six because she's 6th child from the lady and the hanging man. In the ladies quarters you see pictures of more then one child in the same dress, then another with an uglier looking face in the middle above the weird eye, then another beside the slender man looking portrait. Then in the bedroom you see the picture of Six covered in her raincoat, and the other not covered. Beside the one not covered you can clearly see an outline where Sixs picture would of hung. My guess is the lady had 2 favorites but started to hate Six because she was getting more and more beautiful. The other children were cast down into the prison.

Is that chefs used to be conjoined twins? Because first at their room we see their photo cut into half . And at the geisha office . On the wall there is a picture of conjoined baby?
well....there are two toilets side by side and where the other chef is sleeping there is a picture of half of both chefs by each other above the bed so that makes sense

I didn't catch the picture the first I watched this through. And the little girl looked like she might be wearing a raincoat as well. Interesting. And don't feel the need to apologize for making a similar comment to someone else. With so many people watching the video, there are bound to be similar comments. I didn't personally see the need for anyone to be snarky and bring that up to you, but peoples is peoples I guess. Thanks for pointing this cool picture out. :-)
OMG I JUST THOUGHT OF THIS..... Okay so the people come and get fattened up not expecting to get their souls taken by the overlord the only reason she doesn't kill them right away is so when they are fat enough she takes their souls leaving dead bodies piled around.....Therefore plenty of food for the next guests...They take their bodies and turn them into meat and food and the cycle goes on and on.....The children i suppose are like extras in case they don't have enough food they use them and make some more sausages or something like that.....I feel like this makes a lot of sense behind the fattening them up theory...

I feel like the children aren't the food, well they are, just not right away... (this may seem a bit far fetched) but I think that they children are sent back onto the ship, and are taken to be raised on the land, but eventually are taken back to this ship, only to eat themselves to death, and have there souls stolen... This would kinda make sense, because like where are those people coming from? also, when you see them coming onto the ship, they are already fat, but then when you look at the bags of the dead people, why aren't they fat? you want them to be as big as possible, or your just wasting profits... idk lol
here's my theory, the Gacia shrinks all the pretty children, she owns owns the restaurant because of the ugly creatures, she does not want anyone to look a beautiful as her, but she can't stand to see these disgusting people, so she feeds pretty kids to them to make them look pretty, she shrinks the children for two resons, so it is harder for them to escape, and there is less amounts of meat from the beautiful kids
I thought the same thing lol. I thought maybe there's a system or class of who runs the the Maw, and that the Geisha's 'true' name would have been Five or something, birthing or collecting Six and that possibly the whole game is Six's trial into becoming strong enough to kill her mother to then take over to repeat the cycle ??
Really interesting thoughts! There are so many unanswered questions. Things i want to know is, why is everything so big? Or why is six so small? And why did six eat one of the gnomes instead of the sausage? It makes so much fun just to speculate about that. I like this sort of videos! : )
You know how The Lady has a power to take souls from people, and then Six has that power. Well, what if those souls go into the porcelain dolls that if you smash release a black cloud? What if that black could IS the soul?
I have a theory about the gnomes. Imagine if they were souls of the eaten children. That would explain why one of them just lay down and sleeps or is dead, becaus no soul has taken over it yet. It would also explain why six hug them, becaus they are so upset and scared after being eaten once so six has to calm them down with a hug. I know this is a pretty crazy theory but it pops into my head every time I watch a little nightmars video.
Ideas on the characters: *The Janitor*: Long arms, short legs. F**cking creepy. You only get a shot of the man's legs at the start, making me think the legs of that man are the Janitor's real legs. But... When you pan the camera up you see a whole body. Maybe he was the result of chopped up pieces of meat sewn together -- an accident. His skin is kind of down his forehead, suggesting there was sloppy handwork involved? The geisha seems to be able to take souls, so why couldn't she give them as well? Once becoming alive, the Janitor obtains a new mistress, the geisha. He is ordered to kidnap the children and bring them back to the maw. The chain begins. *The Chefs*: They wear masks of human flesh. They could be jealous of the geisha, and since they work with the dead bodies, maybe they skinned them to make masks for themselves and cover up their true identities. Still no clue. *The Geisha*: I support the theory of the Geisha being Six's mother. When she is killed by Six, the power is passed on, presumably down the family. Also, there is a painting of a woman and a girl, supporting the theory. Maybe the Geisha didn't want her "gift" to be passed on. Maybe she knew what was coming her way, and sent Six away so that didn't happen. The father was aware of his little girl being sent away, and wrote a letter to the Geisha (his wife) complaining, but never got chance to finish it, as he was killed by something. *The Guests*: I think the guests are just hungry cannibals with no f**cking clue what they're doing. Full stop. *The Gnomes*: Ah, the Gnomes. I think they have something to do with the Geisha. Since her gaze and the light petrifies people, they were turned to stone, but due to them being family members, their souls still lived. They changed in shape and size, but were still able to live on. Angered by the betrayal of their own family member, they sought revenge. Six was their chance, so they helped her. By hugging the Gnomes, Six was giving them hope. *Six*: I think Six is the daughter of the Geisha. They could both be demons of some sort. They control souls. Six was sent to stop the Geisha, but was driven insane in the process, therefore failing. HAHAHA, I JUST SPENT FORTY MINUTES WRITING A LOAD OF CRAP, DIDN'T I?
Doors Are For People With No Imagination I kinda agree on the six one, but she might not have gone sane, when she eats the thing in the cage ( I'm guessing it's meat) that's one of the first things she eats because she doesn't always get to eat the bread. I think that when she eats the meat then goes on to the rat and then the gnome maybe she's like getting over her fears, or when she ate the meat in the cage it made her crave more, which I'm thinking it does that to the guest too. Six could always be a the devil not knowing it until she eats the women cuz her name is 6 the devil's number is 666. This is might be wrong, that's just what I think
Adults represent gluttony, the geisha represents greed, maybe pride, envy or even lust. Also, Six may has that name because greed is the sixth capital sin, and you can see an evolution in Sixs attitude. At first she starts eating a finger, later she eats a rat, then she has the chance to fill her hunger eating a sausage, but instead she decides to eat the little thing with a hat, and she never eats all the foos,only a little part, so she wants more than she needs. At last she doesnt have enough with flesh so she starts eating souls, another sign of her greediness. Also the kidnapper could represent... wrath? due to the fact he lost his arms because his own wrath didnt let he see any further than catching Six. Sorru for my english, hope you understand me.
I've looked through over 1000 Japanese yokai and demons and I've put together what I think every single character in the game is (except the chef) and I'm guaranteed about the geisha (lady in black) so how this is gonna work is I'm going to number how likely they are of being the certain demon (1 being the most likely) so I hope you like this (it took me 2 days to make) Six 1. Amanojaku, a small demon that instigates people into wickedness 2. Abura-akago, an infant ghost who licks the oil out of Andon lamps 3. Jikininki, Ghosts that eat human corpses 4. Kubikajiri, Female corpse chewing graveyard spirit 5. Aoandon, The demonic spirit which arises from an Andon lamp at the end of a hyakumonogatari kaidankai The Guests 1. Gaki, Starving ghosts of especially greedy people 2. Yomotsu-shikome, the hags of the underworld The Kidnapper (Janitor) 1. Te-no-me, A ghost of a blind man with eyes on his hands ( this could be why he moves around with his hand because he is clearly blind) Deleted Character (See bottom if confused) 1. Kambarinyōdō, a monk that spies on people using the toilet 2. Hanako-San, A spirit of a young WW2-era girl who haunts restrooms Geisha (lady in black) 1. Hannya, A noh mask representing a jealous female demon (see why at bottom) 2. Datsue-ba, an old woman in the underworld who removes clothes and/or skin of the dead (see why at bottom) 3. Oiwa, the ghost of a woman with a distorted face who was murdered by her husband 4. Hikeshibaba, an old who extinguishes lanterns 5. Arikura-no-baba, a woman with magical powers 6. Amazake-babaa, An woman who asks for sweet sake and brings disease 7. Mu-onna, the nothing woman Explaining the geisha theory I believe the geisha is Six's mother and the geisha isn't beautiful but six is, so she ships six off to be eaten, so therefor the geisha is jealous of six and wears a mask that's why I think the geisha is a Hannya It's clear that the geisha runs the ship so she probably runs the food I.E eating the kids, if you go into the janitor/kidnappers room he has all the kids clothes so that's why I think she could be a Datsue-ba And I already said that I think the geisha isn't beautiful so that's why I think she is a oiwa The deleted character is something the developers showed a costume at a convention with a character in a bellboy outfit with a droopy face, they showed him in a video with him behind a mirror, and in a section of the game you are in a restroom and you have to break the mirror to get out and behind the mirror is a chair with someone supposed to be in that chair he could be watching you from the other side and that's why I think he is a Kambarinyōdō
About the picture with the Geisha and the 4 silhouettes, I have a pretty simple theory: They are all the previous owners of the Maw, and possibly the mother, grandmother etc of the Geisha, just like how she is the mother of Six, and Six must kill the Geisha to take over the Maw. Maybe the Geisha has the mirror that isn't broken because she knows that Six must kill her and take over the Maw, almost like a family tradition. Edit: My friend just had the idea that the Geisha's real name is Five, and the other silhouettes are Four, Three, Two and One. It started off as a joke but it makes sense.

my theory is a bit weird cause I think this is about a girl going through like anorexia or something. I dont really know how to explain but I think that the game is her personal hell she created for her in her head. Cause you know the lady not able to Look at the mirrow- having bad opinion about yourself. all the FAt creatures and her starving problems.....okay I went a Little too deep I'll stop XD
aaab bbba This is actually a really interesting point of view. Don't worry, art is subjective and can be interpreted however you want. Maybe the game doesn't even have an story and is just some sort of allegory.
My theory [may not be true] is that since the Lady might be six's mother, Six may have inherited the power of visions and alternate realities from her as seen that whenever Six died, it felt like she just woke up from a vision/dream and she had premonition of the Lady at the start of the game. The power may have subtly guided her through the maw to finish off the Lady since she was a danger to her survival. And the side affect of that power would have been an insatiable hunger that struck at random times and made Six devour anything at hand like the Gnome that she ate. Kind if like how the lady keeps feeding customers, so that she can collect their souls at a later time to keep her power functioning. Still this is just my theory and who knows the lore may be entirely different from this. Still give a like if u agree.
I kinda like the power of vision theory. Perhaps the eyes shown throughout the game doesn't only give emphasis on the fact that she is being watched by the Lady/her Mother or whatever. But also suggests that Six has the power of visions. Perhaps Six's power of vision is stronger than the Lady's because the Lady has mirrors smashed everywhere, perhaps indicating that, not only does she perhaps fear Six's beauty but maybe in her visions, she sees what she does not want to see, and just chooses to ignore it as maybe the mirrors are a gateway for herself to see visions. I dunno, confusing but I do think visions clearly have a part to play here.
I think that Six isn't human, maybe she is the geisha daughter but perhaps not. When she hate the gnome she had no reason too, it was outright offering her a sausage. Yet she choose to eat the gnome instead, the customers seem to go insane trying to get six. They push aside food literally in front of them, they fumble over each other as fast as can to get to live prey. I don't think the geisha set Six away because of jealousy, but rather out of fear. She knows Six can eat her and absorb her power, since six is looking for power. Or, Six is corrupted by her rage. She's seen that other children are being captured and harvested for food, so when she killed the customers it was out a kind of revenge. I don't have an actual full story theory, rather I'm just coming out with random possibilities.
I just realized with the sort of "sister" theory, with you talking about the geisha being jealous and in the photo there seems to be 5 sisters total (even though four are blacked out their silhouette looks like a geisha), you are the sixth sister. You are six, literally your name, the youngest of them, and they seem to be jealous of the way you look and try to kill you. Just a theory tho.
I have this wacky fan theory that Little Nightmares is set in the same universe as Limbo and Inside, not just because they're similar games but that all seem to resolve around humanity at its worst and paying for it big time.
Probably the exact same reason as why I was reminded, the guests are gorging themselves crazy like Chihiro's parents on the food, and the restaurant style looks similar to the bathhouse where she was working.
I just played it for the first time. My perspective was that it was meant to be looked at figuratively rather than literally. Ofc I could be wrong. You see the entire process of how they get their "product." They raise it (the children) in a controlled environment. Then you see them catching those who try to escape and preparing the meat all the way up until it goes to the table for consumption by gluttonous/greedy caricatures of people. Our government/society controls our upbringing. We're all forced through the same pipeline of public education where the state dictates what they want you to know and how to think. Through highschool and college there is a focus on becoming a product. You try to make yourself as marketable as possible in order to appeal to what the businesses and corporations want instead of pursuing what you want and at the end of it we're all the same. Just processed meat prepared for their consumption. The kids who try to escape in the game are caught and those in real life who decide not to go through with college or a profitable/traditional career are reprimanded or convinced to leave their dreams behind. I'm probably looking way to into it though and they just wanted to make a creepy game 😅
I bought the six edition and in the comic i got it explains that this hidden character (in the comic named the shadow) is the one who captures the children and sens them to the mall
I believe that Six is a doll (similar to Chucky). When her face is viewed in the light it is very doll-like and there is a strong reference to dolls being collected in the maw.
I have a story not theory (could be tho) Remember the hanging body at the start of the game? What if that isnt a body, what if thats actually the JANITOR`S lower part? The lady is the only tall person in the game ( yes i know...the guests are gigantic) But what if the janitor was the tallest? And what if the janitor IS YOUR FATHER? Ok ok i know its sounds stupid..hear me out. We all know the janitor is very disturbing and has freakishly long arms. And the hanging body looks very normal but it is very big! And the only human like creature is the lady. The janitor is very short but there is a theory he can regrow his arms! What if he can regrow his legs too? Maybe its still in the process of becoming long again..what if the lady has recently had it chopped off? What if the janitor used to look normal and tall? My guess is the lady fell in love with him and created Six? The janitor was good at building so he built a little playroom/nursery for Six and her 2 siblings (the 2 chefs) Maybe Six was so pretty and the lady got jealous and wanted to sent her away but the janitor wouldnt allow their child to be sent away or killed. As a punishment, the lady removed his eyes so he would never see six again. Other then no eyes, she removed his legs and hid them where he would never find them. She also cursed him to be extremely ugly. The lady has a power to teleport and suck lifeforces out of people why cant she turn people ugly? Maybe the 2 chefs were the lady`s past children and she cursed them to be ugly too because they were prettier than her. The lady then gave the janitor his job. He thought if maybe if he found six and brought her/him to the lady, maybe she would love him again Whenever the janitor catches you, he would caress Six a little to check if it is Six and when he is sure it is Six, he brings her/him to the lady. I HAVE RECENTLY DISCOVERED SOMETHING INTERESTING. in coreyxkenshin latest Little nightmares gameplay, he enters the room to the left where chef follows you.if you look at 13:43 you will see a person sleeping. but the next time you pass by again chef is waking at the figure as if he's getting butchered. they are murdering the quests.....

Ik im late but my theory is that six is a girl who is simply having a nightmare but the nightmare has influenced her reality and the only way to escape is to kill her mother the cooks in the nightmare have ordered the little gnomes to feed six thus while seven tried to give six food but the boy at the start who gave her bread was him while he knew he was in trouble he was good at the start but then when he was captured and turned into a gnome he was trying to fatten up the girl while she knew that she ate the boy but she ate his soul the boys soul was corrupted while he was turned into a gnome and she became more thirsty for food and starts eating souls and gained her powers and when she met the eye (symbol) which is the eye to see reality when she escapes she goes up the stairs which is a pathway to heaven because she has realizen what she has done and decided to end her life Idk if this is accurate but this is what i believe
There's this one part of the game where all the gnomes are fascinated with the fire and their shadows are children. I don't know how this connects, but Six knows that they are also children.
Here's what I think, So im including the kids story in this one, when you play the kids story it ends with you being turned into a gnome but we also know kids get eaten so maybe the kids that figure out her secrets are turned into gnomes and the kids that grown are eaten but then there's six, I think the gasha is six's mom and the gasha doesn't want to do anything to her bc of that, so she sends her to where you first begin and that's where six lives until she wants to escape. Six also knows her mom has this power to eat souls, so six is scared of her, but six also knows her mom's secret so she goes and defeats her mom with the mirror and eats her so she can turn the tables and in a way eat the ppl who tried to eat her
This game gives me a weird vibe. Maybe it could possibly follow a story or premise outside the events and visuals of the game? Like some kind of curse or something placed on the whole ship in a Lovecraftian kind of reality, and whenever the person in charge dies it's simply fate that another take their place because of the curse?
Six isn't human, she's a yokai/human mix, her father was a humand and her mother was Kuchisake Onna, a specific person turned yokai who is obsessed with her own personal beauty, perhaps this is what it is, I do know it gives me a good idea for my OC
The hanging man was sent into the prison because in the room that you found him in, is his bedroom because I saw a pair of shoes his size next to a mattress of some sort that he could of slept on before he was hung.
Six is in fact the "little nightmare". Maybe they knew her capabilities and took her away to save everyone else. And that the establishment is just that.
I have a theory! Six, Might have ADHD, She's playing in her strong imagination, Because she's in Guilt of something, She loves, CHERISHES her family, And, It's Falling Apart, So, She's Pretending, In her Bed, Thinking about what would happen to her family, Scared, About it, She thinks her Dad would Hang Himself, Her mother, Meanwhile, would lock her up, Trap her, She's getting MORE and More hungry, Begging For Food, But, Her family is to busy fighting, They don't notice her, So, She starves. That's what the bell means, Her times Up. She died.
It is important to note that the game's original name was ''Hunger''. Obviously it was a problem for search results because of hunger games, they had to change the name. Like most of you, I think the geisha and the hanged man are six's mother and father. Here's my take. The world got some kind of sickness where people got this urge to eat more and more. The Geisha and your father are both immune to this sickness and they are housing /breeding kids in hope to find a cure or people that are also immune, just like them. They hoped that their child would have this immunity in it's genes, but it is not the case. My guess is that to keep the humanity alive, the Geisha and Six's father owns this place that let's the rich people (mostly the only earth survivors) to eat kids that fails the immunity test. My guess is that world's population have greatly diminished and only the rich can afford to board the maw and eat enough to survive. Six failed the immunity test and as your father was sent to get you, he realized he couldn't muster to kill her own daughter and hanged himself. I feel like the geisha, turned into the devil somehow. Slaying so many children have driven her heartless. By eating her, Six gains her power. The ending is showing Six preparing to leave on a ship tot he rest of the world. Maybe it is to wipe the rest of the human, bringing the last judgment to earth. Maybe Six is one of the 4 housemen of apocalypse, the one so called famine?
When I played, I noticed a second man hanging, so there's more in the game, and if you pay attention to the cheff kitchen they use a "face mask", all if them... They eat under that skin in the kitchen, I know I saw it... It's like eating with the neck... But it's a mask made of skin
Something you Should've Said is That The Bellboy Was Digused (not in the red suit, but a handsome Diguse ) To Get the Geicha's Attention, And one Day, (After the bellboy and geicha Were Married or had Kids) The Geicha Found him In His regular cloths and not the Suit, And then Sent him away then he Hung Himself, Then Six Ran away Due to her Father being gone, and one day went To Go Find her Dad or mom, Found his dad Hung, And found his Dissorted Evil mother.
This game gave me a Spirited Away vibe because your a child that monsters are trying to eat, a witch like women is behind all of this, you are stuck on a boat/ surrounded by water, and the glutons
So maybe just maybe, six is one of six children by “the lady”. The other four children possesses the dark abilities but seem to hid away on the maw. “The lady” seems to understand that the “guest” are cannibals at this point in the outside world and don’t won’t her children to be out there. Yet one escapes (six) off the island, “the lady” sends the ferry man to find her and other children to keep her island “the maw” moving. She only turns kids into nomes that seem to have seen her true face as a torture to them besides death. Maybe six has a dark magic based on 13:02 (look at the portrait) that shows “the lady” taking a picture of a little girl the same size as six. Maybe six been fighting it or didn’t have to worry about it until she landed in “the maw”. Hence, why six goes deeper into “the maw” verses the boy trying to escape.
This game reminds me of Spirited Away. The girl is Sen, the lady is Yubaba, the guests are the pigs, the janitor is the old man in the boiler room, the chefs are no face so on and so forth. At first it wasn't obvious but once I saw the lady and the guests, it clicked almost instantly.

First from the room with sleeping kids, then from the place with gnomes, and other location, before locking on an image with the mirrow, we defeat the lady with. Ok heres my story so you see the hanging man and we all know he was just setted up by the janitor maybe the janitor wasn't a janitor at all maybe before he became a janitor he was an grandfather after he killed the six's father he decided to become an janitor to clean everyone he killed so ppl wont suspect he killed the father at all and maybe the janitor hated the fact that geisha married the hanging man and had a child with him and maybe before he was setted up the father wanted to leave the maw and start a new home with six thats why six was found sleeping in a suitcase that suitcase was the thing they were gonna take with them but the leaving plan failed cause the father was murdered when six woke up she decided to escape by herself alone
U know that not only that she has the raincoat to have waterproof but as u can see in the comic of the series that the people or the geusts hated her coat, so maybe the coat was specially designed for her to be stopped being eaten by the geusts while working as a servant

A lot of her eating habits started going weird when she ate the raw meat. She went from bread, to raw meat, to the rat, to the gnome, then the lady, and then souls...

I have a few thoughts and mini-theories. Here's the first: the main staff is made up of the Geisha, the two chefs, the janitor, and, if you count the costumed bloke from the convention, the bellboy. That's a total of five characters. I don't think it's coincidental her name is Six, if you see my point, which leads me to believe that either she did work there at some point (like in the concept art) or that she really is the Geisha's daughter.
The Geisha is extremely vain, and is insecure about her beauty to the point where she smashes all the mirrors in her quarters, covers some of the finer photos on the wall, and serves hoards of extremely fat and ugly guests on a regular basis. I think it's gone even a step further from that: could it be that the staff members are wearing ugly costumes to make them appear uglier to her? It would certainly make sense with the chefs, where they lift and scratch underneath their faces, and with their shapely necks looking particularly unattached from their backsides. And it would definitely make sense with the bellboy, if the bellboy had removed his wax-dripping costume and hung himself as the regular person he really was. Not certain about the janitor... maybe he was disfigured on purpose? Or was he that ugly baby featured in the photos?
I also have an idea that the bellboy was actually a security guard of sorts. Since there was a camera linking directly to the inside of the Geisha's quarters, I'd think that maybe this fact was kept secret from her, since I can't fathom someone so insecure about image to have a camera trained on them while they brush their hair in front of a smashed mirror. I think the mirror in the guest bathroom was one of those mirrors where, on one side, you only see yourself, but from the other side, you're looking through it. Like a spy mirror, or something. (Can't remember what they're called.)
Also I don't think that Six was "sent", but rather "banished". I am far more convinced about the "Six is too beautiful for the Geisha to handle" theory, especially with those photos of a little girl in yellow on the Geisha's bedroom wall.
Also, keep in mind that the Geisha always has a white powdered face and heavy makeup. Is that a mask? And no, I don't mean metaphorically. Is that a physical mask? If so, could the ugly baby in those photos you mentioned be the Geisha herself? That would certainly explain her insecurity from the get-go.
Sorry if that was a little long. Those are my theories that I thought of after watching your video.

But Little Nightmares has comics, and in the comics she has siblings- five of them, and she's Six.
Human meat is high in calories. The more calories you eat, and not burn, the bigger you get. The adults have been fed the children meat, so that they would become fat, ugly and crazy. This would explain why they want to attack you, because they have become mad with cannibalism.
The chefs prepare the food, as they have been threatened by the Lady, who would kill them if they don't prepare the children meat. The reason they don't eat all the food like the other adults, is because they aren't like them. They just wear suits to make themselves look like them, as the chefs serve the adults, and if they didn't wear the suits, the adults would attack the chefs.
The kid-napper has been lied to. He is blind, so he cannot tell what meat he is preparing. For all he knows, he's preparing baby pork, or baby beef. As for looking after the children, he does not know that these children are being fed to the people, and as for trapping them, he believes he is trapping pests, and shipping them along to be disposed of. The lady's power only works on people who make eye contact with her, and since the kid-napper/long arm guy is blind, it is ineffective on him, and the lady knows that, that is why she put him at the lowest part of the Maw, the prison/nursery.
The lady knows that the adults will become fat, crazy and ugly when they over-eat all the human meat, and she is doing this so that she can be the only pretty one, the only sane one, and she would oppose anyone who would even seem in the slightest bit, sane or pretty.
That is where Six comes in to play. The lady realized that Six, her child, could be possibly even prettier than herself, as well as being smart, agile, and exceptionally sneaky due to her size, and the father, or the long, dangly legged man that was hung, knew that she would become mad with envy, and kill the daughter, so he convinced her to send her to the jail/nursery to stay there forever... or until she was fed to the people.
Knowing this, the father decided to take that risk. The father then shortly after, broke Six out of the prison/nursery, and took her to a little room, at the bottom of the Maw, where he told her the plan to take the Lady out of rule, as she was beginning to act like a tyrant, and that is what the father feared. After conveying the plan to Six, the Lady came down unexpectedly, so he had to improvise. He put Six in the suitcase, and threw it out into a little area, and hung himself, because he wouldn't be able to handle the loss of his love, or the grief if the plan failed, because the lady would find out that he did it. When Six awoke, she had hit her head on the roof of the suitcase, and developed amnesia, this is why she cannot remember any of the people onboard.
She remembered only one thing: The lady must be stopped.

Chrispified that is a really good theory but what about the shoes, and the mannequin at the ladies room and if you remember the big room where you fought "your mom" at the back you can find another big eyes probably another security camera so she asked the chef to hunt for you, because if she doesnt tell the chef, then why would the chef try to kill you even though they probably know that you are the lady daughter and the father would tell them also that dont kill you/six because you will try to save them but because they'e afraid of death they listen to the lady has ordered them to do....

as the game progresses, you start to get hungry and eat. as the game goes on through the incredibly short story, the things you start to eat become more grotesque as you go on like how it starts off with normal food and then progresses to a rat, a small mushroom person and then the woman. i started to wonder who was the real monster and looking at the title of the game it is called little nightmares. you are small compared to everyone making the game have a sense of futility and danger but as you continue to eat, you become more of a monster yourself.

My theory is kind of like the first one but her name is Six because she's 6th child from the lady and the hanging man. In the ladies quarters you see pictures of more then one child in the same dress, then another with an uglier looking face in the middle above the weird eye, then another beside the slender man looking portrait. Then in the bedroom you see the picture of Six covered in her raincoat, and the other not covered. Beside the one not covered you can clearly see an outline where Sixs picture would of hung. My guess is the lady had 2 favorites but started to hate Six because she was getting more and more beautiful. The other children were cast down into the prison.

Okay so the people come and get fattened up not expecting to get their souls taken by the overlord the only reason she doesn't kill them right away is so when they are fat enough she takes their souls leaving dead bodies piled around.....Therefore plenty of food for the next guests...They take their bodies and turn them into meat and food and the cycle goes on and on.....The children i suppose are like extras in case they don't have enough food they use them and make some more sausages or something like that.....I feel like this makes a lot of sense behind the fattening them up theory...

I feel like the children aren't the food, well they are, just not right away... (this may seem a bit far fetched) but I think that they children are sent back onto the ship, and are taken to be raised on the land, but eventually are taken back to this ship, only to eat themselves to death, and have there souls stolen... This would kinda make sense, because like where are those people coming from? also, when you see them coming onto the ship, they are already fat, but then when you look at the bags of the dead people, why aren't they fat? you want them to be as big as possible, or your just wasting profits... idk lol
here's my theory, the Gacia shrinks all the pretty children, she owns owns the restaurant because of the ugly creatures, she does not want anyone to look a beautiful as her, but she can't stand to see these disgusting people, so she feeds pretty kids to them to make them look pretty, she shrinks the children for two resons, so it is harder for them to escape, and there is less amounts of meat from the beautiful kids

I have a theory about the gnomes. Imagine if they were souls of the eaten children. That would explain why one of them just lay down and sleeps or is dead, becaus no soul has taken over it yet. It would also explain why six hug them, becaus they are so upset and scared after being eaten once so six has to calm them down with a hug. I know this is a pretty crazy theory but it pops into my head every time I watch a little nightmars video.

Ideas on the characters:
*The Janitor*:
Long arms, short legs. F**cking creepy. You only get a shot of the man's legs at the start, making me think the legs of that man are the Janitor's real legs. But... When you pan the camera up you see a whole body. Maybe he was the result of chopped up pieces of meat sewn together -- an accident. His skin is kind of down his forehead, suggesting there was sloppy handwork involved? The geisha seems to be able to take souls, so why couldn't she give them as well? Once becoming alive, the Janitor obtains a new mistress, the geisha. He is ordered to kidnap the children and bring them back to the maw. The chain begins.
*The Chefs*:
They wear masks of human flesh. They could be jealous of the geisha, and since they work with the dead bodies, maybe they skinned them to make masks for themselves and cover up their true identities. Still no clue.
*The Geisha*:
I support the theory of the Geisha being Six's mother. When she is killed by Six, the power is passed on, presumably down the family. Also, there is a painting of a woman and a girl, supporting the theory. Maybe the Geisha didn't want her "gift" to be passed on. Maybe she knew what was coming her way, and sent Six away so that didn't happen. The father was aware of his little girl being sent away, and wrote a letter to the Geisha (his wife) complaining, but never got chance to finish it, as he was killed by something.
*The Guests*:
I think the guests are just hungry cannibals with no f**cking clue what they're doing. Full stop.
*The Gnomes*:
Ah, the Gnomes. I think they have something to do with the Geisha. Since her gaze and the light petrifies people, they were turned to stone, but due to them being family members, their souls still lived. They changed in shape and size, but were still able to live on. Angered by the betrayal of their own family member, they sought revenge. Six was their chance, so they helped her. By hugging the Gnomes, Six was giving them hope.
*Six*:
I think Six is the daughter of the Geisha. They could both be demons of some sort. They control souls. Six was sent to stop the Geisha, but was driven insane in the process, therefore failing.

Also, Six may has that name because greed is the sixth capital sin, and you can see an evolution in Sixs attitude. At first she starts eating a finger, later she eats a rat, then she has the chance to fill her hunger eating a sausage, but instead she decides to eat the little thing with a hat, and she never eats all the foos,only a little part, so she wants more than she needs. At last she doesnt have enough with flesh so she starts eating souls, another sign of her greediness. Also the kidnapper could represent... wrath? due to the fact he lost his arms because his own wrath didnt let he see any further than catching Six. Sorru for my english, hope you understand me.

I've looked through over 1000 Japanese yokai and demons and I've put together what I think every single character in the game is (except the chef) and I'm guaranteed about the geisha (lady in black) so how this is gonna work is I'm going to number how likely they are of being the certain demon (1 being the most likely) so I hope you like this (it took me 2 days to make)

Explaining the geisha theory
I believe the geisha is Six's mother and the geisha isn't beautiful but six is, so she ships six off to be eaten, so therefor the geisha is jealous of six and wears a mask that's why I think the geisha is a Hannya
It's clear that the geisha runs the ship so she probably runs the food I.E eating the kids, if you go into the janitor/kidnappers room he has all the kids clothes so that's why I think she could be a Datsue-ba
And I already said that I think the geisha isn't beautiful so that's why I think she is a oiwa
The deleted character is something the developers showed a costume at a convention with a character in a bellboy outfit with a droopy face, they showed him in a video with him behind a mirror, and in a section of the game you are in a restroom and you have to break the mirror to get out and behind the mirror is a chair with someone supposed to be in that chair he could be watching you from the other side and that's why I think he is a Kambarinyōdō

About the picture with the Geisha and the 4 silhouettes, I have a pretty simple theory: They are all the previous owners of the Maw, and possibly the mother, grandmother etc of the Geisha, just like how she is the mother of Six, and Six must kill the Geisha to take over the Maw. Maybe the Geisha has the mirror that isn't broken because she knows that Six must kill her and take over the Maw, almost like a family tradition.
Edit: My friend just had the idea that the Geisha's real name is Five, and the other silhouettes are Four, Three, Two and One. It started off as a joke but it makes sense.

My theory [may not be true] is that since the Lady might be six's mother, Six may have inherited the power of visions and alternate realities from her as seen that whenever Six died, it felt like she just woke up from a vision/dream and she had premonition of the Lady at the start of the game. The power may have subtly guided her through the maw to finish off the Lady since she was a danger to her survival.
And the side affect of that power would have been an insatiable hunger that struck at random times and made Six devour anything at hand like the Gnome that she ate. Kind if like how the lady keeps feeding customers, so that she can collect their souls at a later time to keep her power functioning. Still this is just my theory and who knows the lore may be entirely different from this. Still give a like if u agree.

I kinda like the power of vision theory. Perhaps the eyes shown throughout the game doesn't only give emphasis on the fact that she is being watched by the Lady/her Mother or whatever. But also suggests that Six has the power of visions.
Perhaps Six's power of vision is stronger than the Lady's because the Lady has mirrors smashed everywhere, perhaps indicating that, not only does she perhaps fear Six's beauty but maybe in her visions, she sees what she does not want to see, and just chooses to ignore it as maybe the mirrors are a gateway for herself to see visions. I dunno, confusing but I do think visions clearly have a part to play here.

I think that Six isn't human, maybe she is the geisha daughter but perhaps not. When she hate the gnome she had no reason too, it was outright offering her a sausage. Yet she choose to eat the gnome instead, the customers seem to go insane trying to get six. They push aside food literally in front of them, they fumble over each other as fast as can to get to live prey. I don't think the geisha set Six away because of jealousy, but rather out of fear. She knows Six can eat her and absorb her power, since six is looking for power. Or, Six is corrupted by her rage. She's seen that other children are being captured and harvested for food, so when she killed the customers it was out a kind of revenge. I don't have an actual full story theory, rather I'm just coming out with random possibilities.

I just realized with the sort of "sister" theory, with you talking about the geisha being jealous and in the photo there seems to be 5 sisters total (even though four are blacked out their silhouette looks like a geisha), you are the sixth sister. I just played it for the first time. My perspective was that it was meant to be looked at figuratively rather than literally. Ofc I could be wrong.
You see the entire process of how they get their "product." They raise it (the children) in a controlled environment. Then you see them catching those who try to escape and preparing the meat all the way up until it goes to the table for consumption by gluttonous/greedy caricatures of people.
Our government/society controls our upbringing. We're all forced through the same pipeline of public education where the state dictates what they want you to know and how to think. Through highschool and college there is a focus on becoming a product. You try to make yourself as marketable as possible in order to appeal to what the businesses and corporations want instead of pursuing what you want and at the end of it we're all the same. Just processed meat prepared for their consumption. The kids who try to escape in the game are caught and those in real life who decide not to go through with college or a profitable/traditional career are reprimanded or convinced to leave their dreams behind. I'm probably looking way to into it though and they just wanted to make a creepy game 😅

I believe that Six is a doll (similar to Chucky). When her face is viewed in the light it is very doll-like and there is a strong reference to dolls being collected in the maw.

Remember the hanging body at the start of the game? What if that isnt a body, what if thats actually the JANITOR`S lower part? The lady is the only tall person in the game ( yes i know...the guests are gigantic) But what if the janitor was the tallest? And what if the janitor IS YOUR FATHER?

We all know the janitor is very disturbing and has freakishly long arms. And the hanging body looks very normal but it is very big! And the only human like creature is the lady. The janitor is very short but there is a theory he can regrow his arms! What if he can regrow his legs too? Maybe its still in the process of becoming long again..what if the lady has recently had it chopped off? What if the janitor used to look normal and tall? My guess is the lady fell in love with him and created Six? The janitor was good at building so he built a little playroom/nursery for Six and her 2 siblings (the 2 chefs) Maybe Six was so pretty and the lady got jealous and wanted to sent her away but the janitor wouldnt allow their child to be sent away or killed. As a punishment, the lady removed his eyes so he would never see six again. Other then no eyes, she removed his legs and hid them where he would never find them. She also cursed him to be extremely ugly. The lady has a power to teleport and suck lifeforces out of people why cant she turn people ugly? Maybe the 2 chefs were the lady`s past children and she cursed them to be ugly too because they were prettier than her. The lady then gave the janitor his job. He thought if maybe if he found six and brought her/him to the lady, maybe she would love him again Whenever the janitor catches you, he would caress Six a little to check if it is Six and when he is sure it is Six, he brings her/him to the lady. Ik im late but my theory is that six is a girl who is simply having a nightmare but the nightmare has influenced her reality and the only way to escape is to kill her mother the cooks in the nightmare have ordered the little gnomes to feed six thus while seven tried to give six food but the boy at the start who gave her bread was him while he knew he was in trouble he was good at the start but then when he was captured and turned into a gnome he was trying to fatten up the girl while she knew that she ate the boy but she ate his soul the boys soul was corrupted while he was turned into a gnome and she became more thirsty for food and starts eating souls and gained her powers and when she met the eye (symbol) which is the eye to see reality when she escapes she goes up the stairs which is a pathway to heaven because she has realizen what she has done and decided to end her life

There's this one part of the game where all the gnomes are fascinated with the fire and their shadows are children. I don't know how this connects, but Six knows that they are also children.
Here's what I think, So im including the kids story in this one, when you play the kids story it ends with you being turned into a gnome but we also know kids get eaten so maybe the kids that figure out her secrets are turned into gnomes and the kids that grown are eaten but then there's six, I think the gasha is six's mom and the gasha doesn't want to do anything to her bc of that, so she sends her to where you first begin and that's where six lives until she wants to escape. Six also knows her mom has this power to eat souls, so six is scared of her, but six also knows her mom's secret so she goes and defeats her mom with the mirror and eats her so she can turn the tables and in a way eat the ppl who tried to eat her

It is important to note that the game's original name was ''Hunger''. Obviously it was a problem for search results because of hunger games, they had to change the name. Like most of you, I think the geisha and the hanged man are six's mother and father. Here's my take. The world got some kind of sickness where people got this urge to eat more and more. The Geisha and your father are both immune to this sickness and they are housing /breeding kids in hope to find a cure or people that are also immune, just like them. They hoped that their child would have this immunity in it's genes, but it is not the case. My guess is that to keep the humanity alive, the Geisha and Six's father owns this place that let's the rich people (mostly the only earth survivors) to eat kids that fails the immunity test. My guess is that world's population have greatly diminished and only the rich can afford to board the maw and eat enough to survive. Six failed the immunity test and as your father was sent to get you, he realized he couldn't muster to kill her own daughter and hanged himself. I feel like the geisha, turned into the devil somehow. Slaying so many children have driven her heartless. By eating her, Six gains her power. The ending is showing Six preparing to leave on a ship tot he rest of the world. Maybe it is to wipe the rest of the human, bringing the last judgment to earth. Maybe Six is one of the 4 housemen of apocalypse, the one so called famine?
When I played, I noticed a second man hanging, so there's more in the game, and if you pay attention to the cheff kitchen they use a "face mask", all if them... They eat under that skin in the kitchen, I know I saw it... It's like eating with the neck... But it's a mask made of skin

Has anyone noticed nobody has really looked into the meaning of the "Maw?" I find that kinda interesting...
So maybe just maybe, six is one of six children by “the lady”. The other four children possesses the dark abilities but seem to hid away on the maw. “The lady” seems to understand that the “guest” are cannibals at this point in the outside world and don’t won’t her children to be out there. Yet one escapes (six) off the island, “the lady” sends the ferry man to find her and other children to keep her island “the maw” moving. She only turns kids into nomes that seem to have seen her true face as a torture to them besides death. Maybe six has a dark magic based on 13:02 (look at the portrait) that shows “the lady” taking a picture of a little girl the same size as six. Maybe six been fighting it or didn’t have to worry about it until she landed in “the maw”. Hence, why six goes deeper into “the maw” verses the boy trying to escape.

This game reminds me of Spirited Away. The girl is Sen, the lady is Yubaba, the guests are the pigs, the janitor is the old man in the boiler room, the chefs are no face so on and so forth. At first it wasn't obvious but once I saw the lady and the guests, it clicked almost instantly.
