Been preaching this for multiple months now. Awesome to have someone else echo the same sentiment. Cannot wait for this szn to start. Thanks for these videos in the meantime Sam!!
If the offense gets it together and can actually put up some points it will cause the opponents to be a bit more wreck less in their approach, a big part of the reason for the drop off in turnovers has to be attributed to the offense not being a threat to most teams we faced, you don't have to take chances if your opponent can't move the ball which lets you play a much more cautious style of offense against the Iowa defense. I do think those turnovers will go back up this year but a lot of that will depend on whether the offense is actually a threat to score. People also need to consider how much extra time the Iowa defense spent on the field last season, the offense was so inept that we couldn't sustain drives and would either turnover the ball or punt bringing the defense right back on to the field. The Penn State game is a perfect example of that last season. It just makes the defensive numbers all the more impressive imo.
Iowa rarely scares me... but, they always scare me. That makes no sense, but, damn... it's Iowa. You don't take them seriously or you let them play their game and you'll lose.
Thank you for the $4, Chris. The returning numbers from the LBs are like video game stats, and the fact that both decided to come back speaks to the culture at Iowa. The Hawkeyes are going to be the best they have been on defense.
Sam I’m with u on the fact that i think Iowa can go 11-1. if their offense is any better than last year then they SHOULD beat everyone besides Ohio State. I do think even with that record they will miss the playoff though, simply because of their SOS and the fact that i think two other teams in the Big Ten will go 11-1 and one team will be 12-0.
Yeah if their offense is better than last year's they will go 10-2/11-1. I think whether they miss the CFP or not with an 11-1 record depends on how many ranked teams they beat and also how dominant they are.
@@collegefootballwithsamI think the biggest factor of a potential 11-1 szn would be if Iowa makes the B1G champ. If we miss out I think we make it in the playoff but if we make it and get embarrassed by OSU, PSU, or Oregon we miss out
@@jeffreypierce1440 ur right there won’t but record is not all that matters. if they go 11-1 they could potentially have zero ranked wins and an 11-1 PSU 11-1 Oregon 10-2 Michigan and 12-0 OSU would definitely make it over them.
This is definitely the most in-depth look and you definitely know your sh!t.. great analysis on the defense… let’s get you to 50K subs by the End of the year- you deserve it with your hard work and studying all of college football… nice job Sam!
@collegefootballwithsam ABSOLUTELY! I really do like the pics of the Big Ten kids, too, though. Lol. This is better but I do like the shots of all of the Big Ten top players as well.
I think they'll take a step back this year as their opponents will be better. The 2024 Big 10 will have better offenses than 2023 (they better since they were awful in 2023) and will chip away at Iowa more. Mykel Williams is probably moving to OLB for Georgia this year, too, but could stay down as camp goes on. Injuries are always big in football, but you don't have a crystal ball for them. We'll start to really figure things out in a few weeks. Pretty good analysis, though, and we'll have to see...
Totally agree. Lots of atrocious offense in this conference last season. But really it's college and there's bad football all over. SEC sure had some terrible play last year too.
It doesn't matter totally what teams did last year in the Big 10 conference because IT'S A NEW ERA with new teams and new players across the conference that change TOO MANY VARIABLES IN A CONFERENCE THAT WAS PATHETIC AND TERRIBLE ON OFFENSE 🚨 2023 BIG 10 CONFERENCE WAS TRASH 🗑️ ON OFFENSE talk about it!! ☘️☘️☘️✌🏾
They might have the best scheme in the nation, but they don’t have the athletes to have THE BEST defense in the nation. They’re pretty weak at CB and edge rusher on the national level.

Yeah. The returning numbers from the LBs are out of a video game. These guys are tough. Good stuff.

11-1 big ten record gets you in guaranteed. There won't be 12 teams with a better record.

No 11-1 team will be outside the playoff. You'd have to put a 3 loss team ahead of them.
