Listening to BabyMetal is not bad for a young person, they spread good messages like anti-bullying and whatnot, this song is about fighting your inner demons.

I'm old man in the Metal life...and I'm not shy to tell you that I love BabyMetal...And Karate is my fav song. They are not like conventional metal bands but originals. My first reaction was absolutely emotional and it's ok....I loved. Long live to BabyMetal.

Lead Singer: Suzuka Nakamoto aka Su-Metal age 20
Choirs/ Dancer: Yui Mizuno aka Yui-Metal (Right gloved) age 18
Choirs/ Dancer: Moa Kikuchi aka Moa-Metal (left gloved) age 18
Started Babymetal at age 13/11 respectfully. They started out in a developmental Idol group called Sakura Gakuin. Their raise in popularity had them break away officially in 2013. The live backing band is known as the Kami Band, they played off and on from 2012-2013, and they were not fully established in Babymetal until 2014. Age during the Music Video of Karate, Su-Metal 17, Yui and Moa 15.
There are four sides to their performances, group songs, they also have songs dedicated to Suzuka which are her solos. Then there is what is known as Black Babymetal this is where Yui and Moa do duets. Lastly they have Kami Band intros and Mischief of the God's, which are pure instrumentals of the band doing solos before songs.
They play a variety of metal styles including the one they invented known as Kawaii Metal. Their first song Doki Doki Morning (2010) is a great example of Kawaii Metal. Gimme Chocolate that is also Kawaii metal. However they have done speed metal (Road of Resistance), folk/Viking metal (Meta Taro), Ska/Punk (YAVA!), more rock style song (Syncopation), Progressive Metal (Tales of Destinies/The One), Ballads (Amore, No Rain No Rainbows), and even black metal (Sis. Anger)
The music is written by a small army lyricists and musicians. There are to many to list. They also did a collaboration with DragonForce (Road of Resistance). Each song tell stories. Karate is about overcoming even ones own fears and doubts, Gimmie Chocolate is about body shaming. Other themes are anti bullying, coming of age, and woman empowerment. Some are just fun like playing hide and go seek with an ogre.
Their choreography is done one of Japan's best Mikiko Mizuno she is doing the opening ceremonies for the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.
I think this info will get you going in the right direction in Babymetal information.
Videos you will not get slapped with Copyright strikes. Road of Resistance, Ijime, Dame, Zettai, sometimes Mischief of the God's/ Rondo of Nightmares. Everything else it's the Mute and Sync method sorry.

Kinda the same reaction I first had. My grandson who is 11 told me Id like them. So I gave a listen and was like "Holy Crap". The band, the girls, the show. I mean I have never seen nor have heard anything quite like them. And they seem too really get folks emotional even though many of us cant understand a lick of Japanese. I Like the message they are sending through their music and am astonished that they are able too grab such a hugely diverse audience as well. Their live shows have every demographic you can think of in attendance from casual Rock listener too Metal Mayhem fans too Jpop Idol fan,etc..... It really is an All inclusive group.

(He was really into astronomy.) He died a week later from the injuries he had sustained, on Jan. 5th. RIP Mikio "Kogami" Fujioka.

    Your son is adorable :)
I hear you, kids love to listen to what they love over and over again... To this day, I can recite some songs that my nieces liked years ago. Not to mention one of my nephews: He decided that he is becoming singer so he literally, sang the same song for hours, practicing it (Along with dance moves and all). And he was super serious about it too, tried to correct himself and to sound just like the guy on the song. It was a looong day :)

When I first listened to this song when it came out I was sure that it would propably be something like Doki Doki Morning or Iine! You know heavy metal song with some cute japanese elements. But then it just decided to hit me in the balls with groovy and heavy riffs and one of their best choruses. I havent listened to them too much after their first album though.

That doesn't mean you're a bad parent at all. Very much the opposite, I think. Last year, BabyMetal performed a limited run of shows in which the audience was restricted to elementary school children and seniors 60 and over, so kids would go see them with grandparents and such. Here's a list of the different show requirements:
    Black Fox = Male only.
    Red Fox = Female only.
    Gold Fox = Teenagers only.
Silver Fox = Elementary school age and 60+ only.
White Fox = Everyone is required to wear corpse paint.

    • @autohmae
      @autohmae 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I still wonder how unique this is... is Babymetal the only one that ever did these things ? I know they did Red Mass and Black Mass before these shows of The One members, so it's not the first time.

+Metal Monkey I've also met quite a few folks that had gotten burned out on metal for the last several years, and had their interest reawakened after getting into BABYMETAL.
But sure, they're melodic enough to have a lot of cross over appeal.
It was hilarious when they opened for Korn / Stone Sour last year. The folks on either side of me were Korn fans that had never heard BABYMETAL. They were expecting mellow. They got BABYMETAL Death as an opener.

That's true for some but my phone is 90% metal and BabyMetal gets just as much playtime as stuff like Nile, Revocation, Gojira and so on. They definitely have their own flavor that separates them from other "metal" but I think that's a good thing. Makes it fun and fresh.

I feel ya. My son used to watch the same three Disney movies non stop when he was like 4. Lucky when he was 7 his favorite band was System Of A Down so I was cool with that. You just need to get more babymetal songs in your son's rotation. There are a lot of songs I'm sure he would like.

It amazes me how many people listen to Babymetal and get emotional. I think today with the world as ugly as it is, there's just something about them that's beautiful and special and touches people inside and reminds us there can still be beauty and magic in the world. There's something about Su, Moa, and Yui together that just touches people. It's a shame those days are over and Yui is gone now.

If you want to go for a bit lighter-hearted but still lively and a bit heavy BABYMETAL songs that might also be suitable and likable for your offspring you might check out "Awadama Fever", "Meta Taro", "Yava" and "Onedari Daisakusen". And maybe some that are lighthearted and fun despite being rather heavy like "Catch Me If you Can" (that is about playing Tag and Hide-and-Seek), "GJ" and "Song 4"/"4 no uta". For your own more relaxing enjoyment you may try the beautiful power-ballad "No Rain, No Rainbow" or "Amore" that is a beautiful speed-metal song with romantic slow parts. (Some of these are only available in live versions and maybe also unavailable on youtube, but can be found on other sites like dailymotion).

Hehe! The main singer, Su-metal, is 20. The other two are 14, I think?
Also, if I may make another Japanese band recommendation, Wagakki Band. They're a visual kei band (so their videos and style are very elaborate) and they mix rock/metal and traditional Japanese instruments, and the singer sings in the more traditional Japanese way. Their more popular song is Sebonzakura, but I think a great introduction would be Ikusa, very high energy!

Subscribed............... Yo.. Could you react to something for me. There is this vocalist that pure chance came to be a masterful singer.. developing his vocals. Some may call him the best vocalist of all times. Since he was born he liked to sing.. and he tried to emulate the voice of a the vocalist of Minstry... not knowing the vocalist in person used a effect box for his vocals. And he still did it and hurt his voice..and he still continued until it didn't hurt no more... and this guy was sexually abused by an older friend from a very young age until being 13 year old...and even was bullied in school specially cause he was small and frail. All a result of him not eating enough and screaming his whole life and not wanting to be a bother to anyone. This guy had a heart of gold and only wanted the best and he wanted to be loved and give love. And in 1994 he turned 18 and joined a band... and he was singing and screaming and growing... He became a father 1996 and in 1998 the band ended. What happened then was amazing. This talented guy that singed through out 1997 while there were UFOs flying through his city... he was a believer too btw. He is very old school this guy... Got the chance of singing for a very unique band full of talented members.. And thats where shit got crazy. His screaming though everyday though let to him losing his voice in 2003...and he still kept singing even though he can't use his vocal distortion that he is known about... but now he is dead. And no one really knows what that vocal distortion could do. The band Korn was tasked with making songs for a movie back in 2001. And thats where this singer was asked to sing one of them..the most heaviest of them. And he singed even heavier than the vocalist of Korn that made the song.. And I want you to react to it... I want you to react to Chester Bennington that singed System of Korn. Linkin Park - System

It's a unique sound. The music is actually quality, just the J-Pop vocals over the top take awhile to get used to. None of the girls are 4 lol.....think late teens 17-19 or so.

Hi Z, Many good Japanese bands in their Visual Kei scene including many all girl bands like Lovebites, Mary's Blood, Fate Gear. Other good Japanese bands to name a few include Matenrou Opera, Jupiter, Jiluka, Mejibray, Gyze, Nocturnal Bloodlust. Though one of my favourites is Dir En Grey, try this th-cam.com/video/hGW4b28wF80/w-d-xo.html their track "Uroko".

AHAHAH they are not 4 wtf :'DD
When they started they were like 12 yeah, but now the 2 little ones are close to 19 while the main one is like 22-23 something like that!
Japanese people, or even better asian as a whole, doesn't show their proper age if u base them in a western scale :'D

The music is pretty good, but I dont really care for the vocals. I would never pay for a headline show, but would catch them at a festival maybe
