I'm totally disappointed by this result as an Irishman but my god France deserved that win today. France & Ireland are progressing very nicely. This game had everything today. We witnessed a real classic today. I'm rooting for France for a Grand Slam.

I remember going from Dublin to Paris to watch the game in 2008.. such respectful French fans. Amazing stadium and city. Ireland and France have a great respect for each other.

That laser targeted left to right pass from Dupont from the ruck at the centre of the field, into the hands of the winger on the far sideline was magnificent.
I know that it's early days for Dupont but I think he is the best 9 I have seen since Joost and Gareth.
I am old and the only advantage to that is that I have seen a lot of great players.

Beyond the skills and physical capabilities, it always amazes me how they can visualize and execute this type of actions within fractions of seconds. Penaud also followed with a beautiful offload to Moefana. Northern hemisphere rugby has really improved significantly.

@@syberian18 when N'tamack throws the ball hes 1 meter past the 22 - when Dupont catches the ball he's about 6 meters past the 22 - the French programmers purposely only showed 2 angles....it was 100% a forward pass

The match was announced as a classic, it certainly was one. In terms of scenario, it was the same France New Zealand of November. France domination, Irish comeback and then French conclusion.
Carbeary replaced well sexton, but he was in front something special with Dupont, Ntamack, Villiere..

That's just about the most "French rugby" thing I've ever seen. Sublime brilliance one end to produce the game's opening try, then allow the opposition's winger to catch the restart uncontested, then stroll over for a try uncontested.

La bataille des rucks qui est un point fort de l’Irlande a été gagnée par les Bleus. Le rugby est simple quand une equipe offre un grand combat. Mais au final tu es aussi bon que ta dernière performance et rien n’est gagne d’avance, contre les Irlandais, les Ecossais, les Gallois, les Anglais etc… dans le rugby actuel, il n’y a pas trop de place a la speculation.

@@AttackTheGasStation1 Only a failure if the chaser gets there though. Missed restarts often just go into touch or get dealt with by a box kick from a messy ruck.
I’m not saying it was incredible skill but to see a winger gun it down the line and pick his opposite man’s pocket without breaking stride was beautiful to watch.
What a game from both team ! That was beautiful, there was not a minute of boredom.
I sincerely hope the Irish will come second, given the first two games, and the rugby they produced, if they keep playing like that, it would be so deserved.

I never thought that there would be a better scrum half than A. Smith; but A. Dupont is incredible. Also, Ntamack has to be the best French fly half that I have ever seen. This is possibly the best Irish rugby team ever; big win by France.
DuPont is becoming the Dan Carter of scrum halves … he can kick and chase plus he can defend a maul (things I have not seen Aaron smith do)

Watching how mental that crowd went at the end is a testamant to that Irish performance. There was nothing left on that pitch, 2 top teams playing close to theiir best. Highest quality and i think the size diff was telling in the end
Wouldnt say Ireland were anywhere near their best more so the crowd appreciated the fight back but the performance was littered with unforced errors from an Irish perspective

A brilliant game to watch. Just pure rugby at its best. Both teams should be proud of their efforts. As a Scotsman, looking forward to but also dreading to see us play against you both(Ire and France) considering how well both teams are at the moment. They were my pick from day 1....their 9 10 combo is too dominant and with a brilliant pack they habe an advantage over most teams. Ireland have an on par pack with abit more depth but the 9 10 combo isnt there yet. Better centres for ireland aswell i had france winning by 1 or 2 points and i was damn close. Had ireland beat wales by 20 plus points last week. France will win ireland 2nd 3rd 4th 5th is anyones guess as i see all 3 England wales and scotland lose to france so itll be points diff and who beats italy by the most haha
We will talk about it after Murrayfield. It has already been 2 years we have been dreaming and the Scots shattered our dreams.

Good game Ireland. It was scary for France until the end of the match. Now "les Bleus" is the team to beat.
Both of these teams are next level. Both more than capable of lifting the cup. France also have home field advantage during the World Cup. Think they’ll go on to get the slam this year, them vs wales in Cardiff will be a great game.
Disappointed to lose but it is so good to see Ireland play such great heads up rugby. Hansen's try was such a gem. France are building nicely, huge intensity and some sublime passing. The games away from Paris will give France a better idea of where they are at. It is easy to criticise Ireland for taking the three points instead of going for the corner, but that losing bonus point could make all the difference at the end.
Already looking forward to Ireland v France in Dublin in 2023.

As a South African and a staunch springbok supporter if a NH team wins the world cup next year I would like it to be France.they have been in a few finals and deserve to lift the trophy.
Without Craig Joubert, France could have already lifted the trophy in 2011 ;). But for 2023, the road to the title seems pretty hard for France, with NZ in the group, and potentially SA in QF. Meaning reaching a fourth final for France would already be a massive achievement.

I have to confess, I switched to following France after England's shameful performance at the start of the 2020 Six Nations, I was literally embarassed by what a bunch of arrogant wankers we'd become. Feeling pretty good about the decision now :D although if Farrell and Tuilagi stay away (sorry, hate them both), the current England team has a lot of potential. Anyway, Hedgehogs, we were delighted to discover that we had hedgehogs a couple of years back, last year was the first time we saw urchins (hoglets if you prefer), here's hoping they all got through hibernation ok!

@@joedennehy386 Well, I am an ABs supporter too, but the style of rugby these two teams are playing looks a step above what we can produce. ABs are so disjointed, they look like they have never played together before. Northern hemisphere teams are playing some beautiful rugby at the moment.

The difference was Ireland would make a break beat defenders, get well over the gain line and kick posession away. They did that 7 times. That's like 7 tightheads in the scrum whilst on attack. It's how Ireland used to play. They have a magnificent forward pack, and need to trust their flankers. Don't kick it on attack

Scotland are maintaining a fortress at Murrayfield, anything is possible with them. But don't ever write-off the Welsh, as we know well! Two cracking teams going at it today though, 100% worth a re-watch! It was probably the final IMHO.

Fair result. France showed as good Ireland are their game management needs improvement, going for 3 instead of 6 and then the long throw at the death instead of building phases. Can't complain though we look good all the same. Lost to an equally exciting French side. Good game overall.

A pity the highlights are not showing the refused try by Jaminet. Despite the fact the video could not really validate the ball grounding, it was a great action. France was really solid yesterday. Impressive how they were advancing on all collisions. The Irish had a strong comeback and remained dangerous all game long.

We looked shell shocked by the intensity of by the French. I have no gripes about the result at all. I'm just very disappointed with how we started and some individual performances at times were erratic. I think that was more to do with how quick France were in attack and defence. They played great and I could watch them play all day! Beautiful rugby
You shouldn't be disappointed Ireland did nothing really wrong in the first minute. France were just irresistible.
Also both teams made a lot of errors, not because they made mistakes but because if the huge pressure from both defences.
It was a great game and could easily have gone either way.
There is no shame in losing a game of that intensity between to astonishing sides.

@@jason21jburg Yeah, true about them not scoring against England. They always appear to be making progress but the scoresheet rarely reflects it. However, looking back at how the 6-nations teams used to play 10 years ago, the quality is headed in the right direction, for all 6 teams.
You can literally see how Ireland could have won that. France were so tired in the last few minutes and the decision not to go for the corner was a poor one. Just did not have that confidence in the final stage after a fantastic second half against what is probably the best French team in forever.
Having said that, great to see that Ireland still have room for growth and that we're tiring big squads this. That's what's needed against the Boks next year.
Great game!!! That Irish try from the kick-restart was just marvelous and even more amazing was that the exact same kind of try was scored in South Africa in the game between the Sharks and the Bulls! I really want the French to win the 6-nations - it would be such a big thing for them.
EDIT: I just hope the Scots do not spoil the series by using dirty tactics against the French - and if they do I hope they get thrashed.

We just weren't good enough on the day, France are one of those teams who you will not get close to unless you at peak performance and all credit to the French 🤙
