Dane just every man Gearhead, you are a young man wait till you get all gray hair, you will have made lots of mistakes but think of all the things you have learned, I can write books on Gearhead things but I've learned a lot, and have a head full of gray hair.

Love the hands on approach.... You're right....youll either pay someone else or pay to learn ..much like yourself id rather learn. Plus...never know when you can take that knowledge and turn it into a little side cash

I know I am late but I did not find the video showing how much you spent on parts and how much power will it hold. I am building a 700 hp Ls 6.0. Want a simple PG like you built. It’s drag only If parts were under a 1000 I might try myself. If they are over I will take it to build lol
Depending on what Planetary you have you can build a glide for less than 1k. It takes some effort and learning tho. The value comes from learning even if it cost a bit because you dont have to rely on anyone to do it for you. The cost to rebuild it with seals and clutches after you have good hard parts in it is cheap. If you call or go to BTEs website you can get a list of parts for your build. A TH400 is also a good transmission and you could probably just buy one ready to roll under 2k. I wanted to be able to fix my own stuff is why I went the route.
I always find it funny when others like to criticize someone for learning or trying something new. I enjoy learning and am willing to try things I think I can do or seem reasonable. Thank you for the support! 👊

Yes you are 100 percent correct. I did actually do that the first time I put it together when I messed it up. I had the clutches soaking in transmission fluid for a little while before I assembled it.
@@Burndown You don't have to soak the steels. Steel doesn't absorb fluid. You do need to set your clearances before you soak though. A set of calipers is the way to check clearance the easiest.

Yes you need to run that. If I didnt show it you do need to install it. Sorry if i skipped that part but it was my first time building a transmission.
You picked a good trans to learn on. Powerglides are as simple as they come.
Thats why I wanted to do one. That and I feel like it can be done on the side of the road if I have to. Hope I dont tho🥴😆

You forgot the wedding band
On your outside seal, you can use a .015 feeler gauge between the seal and the housing. Just a little insurance to not cut the seal

I think you are supposed to soak the steels and clutches in trans fluid before you put them together in the pack.
