@@mountainsgarage when you do let me know. I want to send you one of my patent pending pushrod length checking tools if you would like to try it out. Going to be displaying it at the PRI Show next month. th-cam.com/video/V4P1ljp-EK8/w-d-xo.html
You should check out the AOD borg warners (P/N 32943AM or 25700AM )... They're cheap still. People haven't gotten to em. About 2 bucks a pop from rock auto. Thin like alto. A "Tan" (looks more red to me once they been in fluid), that apparently works very well. The OD is about 5.25" compared to PG 4.98" or whatever it is. Same inner spline, but just chuck em on the lathe and turn them down.
Why run the clutch clearance that loose? I have built tons of transmissions th400, 4l80, 4l60 with 20 thousands never had any problems been building for 12 years. I was taught by my builder you can run up to 3 per clutch 40 years of transmission building experience. I understand that the new computerized stuff is a different ball game and also the Chrysler stuff needs Clarence for the direct drum.
I run the TH400 clutch clearance in a six clutch drum around .050. A Powerglide Direct Clutch needs slightly more to eliminate some drag when off in low gear, but on the 1-2 shift the band has to release and the clutches have to apply and a more generous clearance helps in the shift timing.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge man…Great series of videos…
Thanks for watching, you are always kind!
Great vid thx Shawn. I've been continuing on my lower control arm mounts for the Hz, coming up a treat
I love the updates!
how do you feel about removing the wave plate on a street (non transbrake) application. do you think it makes the shifts to hard ?
Shawn did you build your LS engine yet?
Not for the Dart yet.
