Used to end up in detention as I had to walk past Pebble Mill back to school after lunch you never knew what would be going on cannot believe I ended up with a weeks detention when I said I was late after being held up by a Harrier Jump Jet....
What year did this come out? Eric Morecambe sounds such a nice man very kind. Really sad he died so young. A true professional. A true comedy genius.

Eric Morecambe was very hard working. I can't help thinking maybe if he had slowed down a bit he would he have lived longer. These days people can get a heart transplant but not sure in those days in the early 1980s.
4:35 - The other show he mentions here was "Saturday Night at the Mill" which was a Saturday late night version of the lunchtime Pebble Mill, however more geared towards comedy/entertainment late night show than Pebble Mill could be at 1pm.

Hi, I think it's a bit earlier than that - Mr Lonely was published in March 1981 so I reckon it's probably from around then. By 1983/4 he'd started to look a lot older hadn't he?

Now Mark, you are viewing that from a 2020 year view point. I put it to you this way. It is 1978, the country is in the midst of strikes after strikes, power cuts, rubbish in street not collected. On top of that, you are a successful TV performer who has worked your ass off since before World War 2 and now you are wealthy, but the government wants to snatch 83% of that wealth off you every year. Now can you understand why he liked Thatcher? Also, Thatcher won a majority not from the rank in file Tories, but from Labour voters who had enough of Labour in 1979.
