My Gran remembers Betty Driver as a star in her own right before she was Bette Turpin in Coronation Street. Apparently there was a little bit of professional jealousy on the part of Doris Speed ( Annie Walker) as Miss Speed acted like she was a star while Miss Driver was a bone fide one in her day. Love these shows.
I've just realised smth : Ernie speaks at the end about the 2 pirates act "Oh no there isn't", "Oh yes there is!" The Play That Goes Wrong chaps had a reference to that in their Peter Pan Goes Wrong. And it's Cpt Hook arguing with the audience It's clearly a tribute
I think it was a bit two way though, if you watch after M&W do their "Two Pounds" routine, Betty Driver turns to look at Denis Norden and admittedly is smiling, but it's only when she realises she's on camera does she start laughing. See 3:23
Everyone has their own tastes. Interestingly enough, my wife and her parents went to see Morecambe and Wise Live, and they said they weren't as good as on television - which is surprising when you consider their made their names on stage.
This is fabulous. Eric and Ernie AND Betty Driver on the same show with Denis Norden. Thank you so very much. ❤❤❤❤
Betty was a glamorous, talented and beautiful woman!
Love love to them love their accents and their great comedy stars ⭐️⭐️ Beatty driver also missed ⭐️♥️
Thanks for uploading this. Denis Norden was pure genius.

And she made better hot pot. My maiden name was Driver and people always asked me if I was related to her. And I'm not.🥰
Poor Ernie was devastated when his great mate passed on. I remember an interview he did soon after and he shot up in my estimation.
Yes. Said it was like losing his brother. Poor darling.
This is just lovely.
These old programmes should be shown again. Far better than the rubbish on TV now. Real entertainers with real talent. Sadly missed.
Pound notes. Takes you back...

put up the whole episode
Ernie always seemed a nice guy
I always had a soft spot for little Ernie as he looked very like my grandfather. 🥰
@@annoldham3018 Show us a pic of your Grampa please? Would be great if he was the spitting image of Ernie.
I dont think I've ever seen a programme where Dennis Norden doesn't hark back to the good old days.
Soon we'll both be gone too.
Bring back blue socks.
Note the rubber band on Denis Norden's wrist!
Matching socks
Yes, I noticed that & matching body language showing they liked each other
Ernie gets his two quid back......
M&W are so wrapped up in themselves they have no interest in the lovely Betty Driver. It's all about them, as gifted as they were.

thats because it wasnt that funny@@ashleyp.4932
I never could understand the appeal of Morecambe and Wise.
Everyone has their own tastes. Interestingly enough, my wife and her parents went to see Morecambe and Wise Live, and they said they weren't as good as on television - which is surprising when you consider their made their names on stage.
Poor you.
Cannon and Ball had the edge.
Give over. They are not in the same stratosphere.
They were in their time. 86/87, steaks in the pan, mum and dad yammering, no scholl til Monday. Cañnon and Ball were the bee's knees.
Sorry never was into Morecombe & Wise. The two Two Ronnie's was fae better.
Only in your opinion which nobody cares about.
NEVER FOUND THEM FUNNY. SPOT GAGS MILES AWAY. JUST RE HASHED SAME OLD STUFF.
If you don't find these two funny. Don't watch them.
Why are you shouting? Can't understand how to unlock the caps?
My husband doesn't find them funny either. I love them and find them even funnier when he doesn't. 🥰😂
Two shit so called comedians.
so why watch the clip then.
The ratings prove your BS opinion wrong.
27 million people disagreed with you in 1977.Probably still do now.
