Thank you for taking us along...warmed an icy winter day. You might like Elkhorn Creek from Frankfort towards Lexington. Very pretty and good wildlife, our cousins say. Also the Kentucky River. Kingfishers, herons, and in some wilder areas I hear there are mink. We rode the Kentucky Belle paddle wheeler out of Shaker Village and even with the motor, once the group quieted down we saw quite a lot. The palisades are rather inspiring and there are cavelets.
Have subscribed to your channel. Our boys are almost camping age and you've really engaged their interest and respect. Thanks kindly for taking time to show us so gently low-impact, mostly low-tech woodcraft. Very best indeed,N in Lexington, KY

I think my blood pressure dropped several points watching and listening to this video. You inspire me to get out in my pirogue. Thanks for the quality work!

Christopher Wilmes can you bring your own kayak here? If so where is best to put in at? I’m new to Louisville and looking for some places to go

Herrods creek is even more beautiful with leaves in the summer. Also, consider Green River Lynn Camp Launch in Munfordville, KY. It’s a bit longer.

May I suggest the Green River in Mammoth Cave National Park, Cave City Kentucky; this offers nice one day or multi-day trips that allow camping on the islands in the river.
You might also check out Indiana's Blue River at Marengo, IN. The Blue River provides good single day trips which could be turned into multi-day but you would have to camp at private campgrounds or at O'Bannon Woods State Park which is also home to Indiana's Adventure Hiking Trail (a 24 mile backpacking trail through the hills of southern Indiana).

+Preston R Funny you should mention the Green River. I did a couple of days on it while I was in the area, and will have footage of it up in the coming weeks. Thanks for the tip on the Blue River too. I'm always wanting to explore rivers I've never done before.

Wow, you were only a few miles from where I work and live! I didn't know one could canoe or kayak here. It would have been nice to meet you, maybe you will come back down this way and check out the Red River Gorge or Mammoth Cave area? Both of which have canoe rentals available. I am more of a hiker than paddler, either way I hope you enjoyed our state!

I live in southeastern kentucky along I75. I'm close to the Cumberland River and the Laurel River. The Cumberland River has a waterfall called Cumberland Falls. There are some hiking trails and stuff around there too. If you ever head down this way, let me know. I'd be glad to show you around some.....but might not be able to keep up with you hiking. I'm out of shape. lol

That creek is polluted as can be. I've seen diapers, needles, dead animals and fish and smells pretty bad sometimes.
