When looking for pirate systems you can set the filter to conflict and just look for the red systems - pirate systems are always red on the conflict scanner so it can cut down your search time in the galaxy map.
Take the first Freighter you come across, it doesn't matter what Class it is, as It's just a means to an end, Try to upgrade the Freighter warp drive and get an interstellar scanner, and also the conflict scanner for your ship. Use your Freighter to look for planets that are pirate-controlled Systems, like the one at 3:58 Don't jump to that one, jump to one next to it, that isn't a pirate-controlled System, then get in your ship and jump to the pirate-controlled one, and the chances are you'll find one. I've also found there are usually more pirate-controlled ones close by, as many as 5 or 6 sometimes, but I do find the Dreadnought will stop spawning after 3 or 4 times, so go play some missions for a bit and repeat the process. I find that 30 minutes or so will do the trick. Now, this Is important, and the main reason for not reloading your save until you come across an S-Class, and also the thing that every video I've seen regarding getting an S-Class Dreadnought fails to mention. You will need to farm the Dreadnoughts to get the 21 S-Class upgrades It drops, So even If you get an S-Class on your first go you should still continue to farm them This fella Is a pro and because he took those guns out before the Dreadnought destroyed the civilian ship, he got a payment instead of the S-Class upgrade, and a pants payment at that. The best thing to do Is take out the engines and wait at the back inside the Dreadnought shield until it destroys the civilian ship, then take out the guns, and thus get the S-Class mod. I take the 5 guns at the back down to within an inch of their lives out of sheer boredom waiting for the civilian ship to die, but you do you. You don't need a Freighter to farm them but it's not that hard to get a 2k Hyperdrive on one, and that opens up a lot of map. I also wouldn't install the S-Class upgrades you get until you find your S-Class Dreadnought. You'd be gutted If you found one and forgot to take them out. I got one on my 6th try but didn't see another one until my 20th. I have 22 S-Class upgrades on my Dreadnought now, and she's a beast.😉 Oh, and as a bonus you can also hire the pirate frigates, get an S-Class or get them up to S-Class and they become Pirate Battleships. Sorry Caster but I'd pin this comment, remake the video showing all this, and then delete this video, but that's just a suggestion. ✌✌✌
You don't have to worry about moving everything from your freighter cargo holds. In the compare screen, if you hit q or e you will swap between inventories and you can simply transfer everything over to the new one, just like if you are swapping or selling a ship.
i have only been playing for a week, or so - i lucked out and got an A class on my second pirate battle - I'm happy with that. When I'm bored later on - I'll go hunt an S-class. lol
Honestly even a C class is more than enough for most people when it comes to freighters, they can still hold a bunch of stuff with the storage mods and there's not much difference outside of that. The majority of players only need to worry bout ship class when it comes to the starship instead since that will be used for virtually everything.
if you are just determined to get a dreadnaught, you can easily just take the first freighter you get the option to, then start jumping into pirate controlled systems and take whatever grade dreadnaught you feel like taking because you still get the dreadnaughts free if you fight another one. (or at least i have, multiple times... but the game is glitchy) i can also say you certainly don't need to do any amount of jumps once you have your freighter, or after.. MAYBE before you get the first one. during my first run on the expedition, i took a class B freighter with a lot of cargo space (was the 3rd one i fought) about 3 systems later, fought a dreadnaught, that was also class B and i believe the same cargo slots of 32 or 33.... left the system, did a mission or two in that system, then jumped back to the pirate one for some reason and had another dreadnaught fight, class A with 33 cargo, so i took it. i actually had 3 different freighter / dreadnaughts in under an hour... with just a couple warp jumps. of course i'm sure that's not at all normal.
Hi! Thanks for the video! I got random an A-Class Star Wars looking Battleship. The stats of this ship where better as the stats of the Dreadnough and it had more turbo slots.
There is also the filter that can be changed to look at conflict places only. Though, from my experience, it's not all that accurate. It still will show peaceful and the like places.
I just give up on them and pop them given I can’t get them better my original hunt. Yes, I did got myself an s class pirate dreadnought to verify it’s pretty much a glorified regular freighter. I keep it as a separate offline backup. They do pop up more frequently in outlaw systems(and no it might not follow the respawn rate rule, I had noted about 3 times these battle are hard seeded in some of these pirate systems resulting in 2 battles in quick succession of warp jumps), occasionally on T3 conflicts systems as well. With or without settlement. Statistically it’s higher chance on spawning a S class compared to those s class capital freighters. Worth noting, if you are inclined pirate frigates are rather combat capable.
The Dreadnoughts are cool and all, but tbh I don't know if I'll bother. I happened upon a Resurgent-Class Venator A-Class (aka the hugest one) on my third or fourth freighter battle. Have you done the initial freighter battle? (Not a dreadnought).
@@CasterPenn which missions they are?
@vasslajos9714 sorry, it's not a mission, it's the first freighter battle where you save it from pirate ships. It happens when you warp into a system.
@@CasterPenn no i don't remember it. but even if there was, he wouldn't throw in a pirate battleship.
