- Idanre is a Local Government Area and historic town in Ondo State, Nigeria. The town is located at the foot of the scenic Idanre Hill which is of unique cultural and environmental significance and attracts many tourists. The formation of this place could be a bit similar to that of Meteora in Greece

Kudos to those craftsmen who built the steps . They did not steal the materials for their benefit, hence the quality of the stairs withstanding the test of time.

Wow! Wow!... This is my town, Idanre to the world. I remember when i climbed the hill in 2005 with my cousins, it was truly a beautiful sight.
I would have loved you to see the cryptic handwritting on the rock which is yet to be deciphered, the wonderful mat etc.... Its all good. Thank you for this. God bless.

This is the best video with a proper explanation of the Idanre community. The guide who went with you did an amazing job narrating in detail, both the history and geographical landmarks of the area.
Secondly, it is a testimony to hear that the place allotted to Christian missionaries which was known to be an evil forest had no power over the missionaries that came to spread the gospel and hence the name was changed from “evil forest” to “good forest”

Lots of examples around the world if this geological formation. Nature is capable of this beauty. Geometric patterns are in all nature.

My hometown. I climbed the hill in 2003 and we got to the mast.
My mum used to live in old Idanre (on the hill) when she was a child. When I climbed the hill, I visited her father's house in which he was also buried.
Idanre hill is a beautiful and magical place😍. I hope to organise an expedition there soon.
American Indians also have an oral history of the holy ones who could change the Earths surface with their use of "the word". The children began to play with the word and caused great gouges in the Earth and caused volcanoes to erupt, so the holy ones took the magical word away from the children of Earth. Only a few Elders got to keep the magical word but on the promise it was kept holy and not given to those who did not treat it as it was divine! Sacred. Very sacred
I had the honor of climbing idanre hill...I still have some water from the healing river. It is truly amazing to see. I will never climb it again. Next ikogosi springs.

This is so beautiful, unbelieveable that this Nigeria. I read about olumo Rock in primary 4 & my mother told me it really existed because she & my father lived near it when my father was a policeman in Abeokuta. When i started to work in Lagos i visited it,I was so impressed that I intend to take my family there someday. Now I have another wonderful place to add to the adventure when we come to Nigeria. This is just like those places we go in Switerland, this is more anicent & natural. I will like to see one hotel, restaurant & cabel band showing people all over the beautiful hills. Nigerians need to develop their beautiful places. This will attract more tourists to come admire the beautiful sites around the country. Thanks David for showing this to us.

And there is a festival called "dare the mare" done every year on this mountain where people all over the world come to witness and celebrate, very peaceful and beautiful

I wish the government preserved the houses where the people lived then and the paths to getting there better at least we would be able to see how they lived and maybe relive the imagination
For example, in America, i think they have like village exhibitions where you can see how former people lived, the tools they used, how they dressed etc.
I guess with the colonial powers coming, they had no interest in preserving the place after conquering the people and our short sighted and greedy leaders too have no interest in preserving our heritage.
