I think people forget one important fact about whitebeard. He purposely didn’t want a strong crew. He didn’t like the rocks pirate and chose based on personality
Wait....the rocks crew were rivals of the Rodger pirates...so if Rodger can go toe to toe with a crew as loaded as that, shouldn't he be ranked higher? I know garp and the navy helped in the deciding battle, but Rodger constantly fought them on more than one occasion and did well enough to be considered an equal. guys, it's obviously the Barto Club Tell me another crew that could easily deflect an attack from Akainu's magmafist, Bigmom's Elbaf Spear, Kaido's BoroBreath, Blackbeard's Quake punch, and a Sunny Gao Canon, all while hanging out in a 1billion volt attack from Enel himself and getting repeatedly Trunk lashed by Zunisha. Garp was not alone at God Valley. In the flashback we see there was other marines with him (granted it was only fodder marines but it's still confirmed he had back up, we just don't know the full extent of it). Also Garp was a yonko level monster. Adding him to the Roger crew would give them a very significant power boost.
It's not confirmed by a long shot but a popular fan theory is that Whitebeard might have turned on his crew mates and joined Roger and Garp at God Valley which would have evened the playing field.
You have to consider one thing, when gauging the Roger Pirates. We only know of three instances when Roger actually fought someone. The first was at God Valley, an incident that we know little to nothing about. The second is the Roger Pirates’ three-day long clash with the Whitebeard Pirates (who Kozuki Oden fought alongside). And, the third is the Edd War. In the latter two battles, Roger was dying. That means that the Roger Pirates fought Edward Newgate, Marco, Kozuki Oden, Jozu, Vista, Nekomamushi, Inuarsashi, and all of the other Whitebeard Pirates - while their captain was slowly dying. Considering that he was still able to clash with Newgate while he was sick, just imagine how strong Roger was before he was sick. I don’t care how vast the Big Mom and Beast Pirates empires are, they would still lose.
I know this is ten months later but I just wanna add to what we do know at this point. Spoiler warnings ahead. Before I begin I just wanna mention that I think you’re focusing on Roger as a person to much rather than his crew as a whole. True Roger is one of the strongest pirates that have lived, I’d say the only stronger than him that we probably can confirm at this point is Xebec. But this video is focusing on pirate crews as a collective. Bringing attention to what the captains of these crews are capable of is good of course, but in the grand perspective it shouldn’t change anything since in my mind these crews should be judged based upon how strong they are even if the captain of any crew were to be removed or be replaced as a factor. So again, focusing or laying some attention to what these Captain have done and are capable of is totally fine but it shouldn’t change the outlook of of this video. But that’s just how I see it and if I’m wrong somehow or you disagree then I have no problem with that. Just as long as we can have a nice discussion about it. Anyway, now to the actual points. 1.) The battle at God Valley. We still know very little about it as a whole, we do know though that Roger fought together with Garp in a temporary alliance to stop the person we now know as Rocks D. Xebec. I don’t think that Rogers crew has ever been mentioned to participate in this battle, but I could be wrong or i have just forgotten it. But if they haven’t been mentioned being part of this then I’d say this is would be more of a showcase of Roger and Garps strength rather than Garps collective crew (and in this case the marines), as well as the Rocks Pirates strength. But like I said, we still know so little about this but more could very well be revealed about this further on that gives us more insight about this incident. 2.) The three days long battle between the Roger and the Whitebeard Pirates. This one we do indeed know more about. We may not know every little detail that transpired but we know that they fought pretty equally and that in the end, on the fourth day, they both ended the fighting which if we are still gonna hand out victories would in this case pretty much be a draw (I don’t remember the exact reasons why but they stopped the fight but since Roger and Whitebeard was pretty much equally friends as rivals I’d say they never truly wanted to take down each other even if they fought with all they had, but I don’t have anything to support this so I can only speculate). But what is important to remember about Whitebeards crew at this period in time is that at this point his crew hasn’t really reached the massive force in strength and power it had during his attack on Marineford. I know that he had Oden in his crew at this point as well as Inuarashi and Nekomamushi, but the amount of members he would attain afterward I think more than make up for them leaving afterwards. It’s like he would exchange three strong members for a larger more organized group that. Also, even though these three would come to leave members like Marco, Jozu, Vista and Izou stayed. And like I said, many more would join. I’m not sure how big the crew is at the time of the fight between the Roger Pirates and the Whitebeard Pirates but the total amount of crew mates in just his main crew alon at the time of the Summit War is up to 1617 members (I’m not sure how specific these numbers are, for example I’m sure at this point Ace is still counted among these people but I don’t think Blackbeard would be counted as one among them. But as I said, I’m not sure). And aside from the main crew there’s also the subordinate crews he commanded. I’m not sure how I would measure the strength of the captains from these crews compared to that of the commanders of the main crew but approximately I’d say on average a captain from a subordinate crew is at level that is somewhere between that of the Shinuchi and the Gifters from the Beasts Pirates (it’s hard to make a full comparison since we don’t get to see all or even that many of the captain from these crew in combat, but I would guess they’re weaker than most if not all the commanders but still stronger than the average pirate.) I used the Beasts Pirates as comparison cause I feel like of the four Emperor crews they are the most structured in terms of ranking. Then of course there’s also everyone else, the average pirate crew members that both the main crew and the subordinate crews must have had. While not as strong they do would make up in number. I’m sorry for focusing so much on Whitebeard, I’m just trying to make my point come across as clear as I can. Im soon done with this point. What I’m trying to say is that during this fight between Rogers and Whitebeards crew in particular, although Newgate himself may have been in his prime during this time and had some strong members with him, I don’t think that his crew had reached its peak yet. I’m sure the Roger Pirates could have fought the Whitebeard Pirates as we see them during the Summit War but they would have struggled more in that scenario. 3.) The Edd War. In terms of individual strength, then I agree. At this point, like you said, not only do we know that Gold Roger is suffering from a fatal decease, but this took place even before he became known as the king of the pirates. He has at this point gone toe to toe whit the likes of Garp and Whitebeard and either ended up in draws or victories and most draws you could argue only occurred to to circumstances. The only one singular person who has ever at this point been any actual trouble and/or danger towards him is Xebec and even though he did win the battle against him he needed the help of Garp and even with that knowledge there’s a lot of try’s battle we don’t know. But regardless, while there are some that can fight him equally there’s pretty much no person that at this point can completely outmatch him. What’s more, even though we haven’t been given an exact comparison between Shiki’s overall strength next to the remaining remnants of the Rocks Pirates I think it’s safe to say that next to the likes of Whitebeard, Charlotte Linlin and Kaido he doesn’t hold the same standard. That isn’t to say he’s weak by any means, just the fact that he was part of the Rock pirates at all is evidence enough of that, but he can’t compare to much stronger pirates we’ve seen. So despite his proves Shiki doesn’t really have much to show for had he gone up against Roger alone. One final comparison between the two I would like to make is that if Roger had went to Marineford for whatever reason and went all out, no crew or anything with him, then it would have been more than half the base that would have been destroyed. So yeah, Roger would slap the ass of him in a one on one. But again, this isn’t about just the captains but the crew as a whole. But to be fair I have a little hard time with this one. I agree that the Roger pirates are the stronger crew here, it’s just that some of the things that happened in this war is very coincidental, making things harder for me to measure the strength of both crews at the time. Like the giant wave crushing half of Shikis Fleet for example, had he (Shiki) been able to fight or even defeat the Roger Pirates if he hadn’t had his fleet cut in half like that? While I doubt the latter would be possible it is an interesting scenario to think about, how much longer would the two side have to fight each other before someone gave up or lost? But I can’t with good confidence say that Shikis Fleet is stronger. In an alternate timeline or universe than maybe I could see them be on par with the Roger Pirates but as is the Roger Pirates, even we should remove Roger himself from the equation, are just to strong. Sorry if this became a little messy. And sorry if I somehow come of as as trying to attack or criticize your take/opinion, that’s not what I’m trying to do. Just let me know if anything I’ve said feel like that and I’ll try to correct it. One thing that wasn't so strong about the Rocks Pirates was their bond. Everyone on the crew HATED each other, Kaidou didn't think very highly of Whitebeard, Big Mom hated her own captain, and Whitebeard wanted to get the hell out of there. This was ultimately what doomed their crew, because even though they were powerful beings, they really couldn't stand each other, unlike the Roger Pirates, who were longlasting because they were truly a family.
Pin me so everyone sees this, what I have to say is please, please, PLEASE, if you have watched One Piece anime but not read the manga, read the manga! vice versa, if you've read the manga watch the anime! I'm sure you can agree with this GrandLineReview, some spots are portrayed in different ways, so you should definitely experience both. This is the second time I've seen the big mom pirates fall short to the beast pirates and I get the argument, but considering how the big mom pirate are literally bread to be a Yonko crew. This isn't even mentioning how big moms fruit bolsters their forces quite heavily. Imo big mom's biggest strength should be her crew.
In terms of numbers and allied forces alone, Whitebeard, Kaido and Big Mom would DEFINITELY top this list. However, Rocks had all of them under his flag for a common interest before they became Emperors, something NOT to be underestimated or taken lightly, which the Navy tends to do for rookie forces like the Straw Hat pirates or the pre-time skip Blackbeard pirates.

Huge underestimation of the roger pirates. Just because there small dont mean they are weak. Roger regularly clashed with the whitebeard pirates. And seeing his strength alone just undoubtedly showed he and his crew where on a league of there own

When you say 100k, it makes me think that only 1 yonkou and beat the shit out of the marines. The red hair pirates were said to be the strongest overall crew in the reverie and the straw hats are definetly stronger then big mom pirates after chapter 1010. Zoro defeats katakuri, sanji defeats smoothie. Jinbe defeats cracker. The alliance of the straw hats is stronger then big mom alliance especially with Marco on their side. Plus luffys new power destroys big mom. If queen was able to knock down big mom with one attack luffy can easily defeat her.

Garp was not alone at God Valley. In the flashback we see there was other marines with him (granted it was only fodder marines but it's still confirmed he had back up, we just don't know the full extent of it). Also Garp was a yonko level monster. Adding him to the Roger crew would give them a very significant power boost.
It's not confirmed by a long shot but a popular fan theory is that Whitebeard might have turned on his crew mates and joined Roger and Garp at God Valley which would have evened the playing field.
You have to consider one thing, when gauging the Roger Pirates. We only know of three instances when Roger actually fought someone. The first was at God Valley, an incident that we know little to nothing about. The second is the Roger Pirates’ three-day long clash with the Whitebeard Pirates (who Kozuki Oden fought alongside). And, the third is the Edd War. In the latter two battles, Roger was dying. That means that the Roger Pirates fought Edward Newgate, Marco, Kozuki Oden, Jozu, Vista, Nekomamushi, Inuarsashi, and all of the other Whitebeard Pirates - while their captain was slowly dying.
Considering that he was still able to clash with Newgate while he was sick, just imagine how strong Roger was before he was sick.
I don’t care how vast the Big Mom and Beast Pirates empires are, they would still lose.
I know this is ten months later but I just wanna add to what we do know at this point. Spoiler warnings ahead.
Before I begin I just wanna mention that I think you’re focusing on Roger as a person to much rather than his crew as a whole. True Roger is one of the strongest pirates that have lived, I’d say the only stronger than him that we probably can confirm at this point is Xebec. But this video is focusing on pirate crews as a collective. Bringing attention to what the captains of these crews are capable of is good of course, but in the grand perspective it shouldn’t change anything since in my mind these crews should be judged based upon how strong they are even if the captain of any crew were to be removed or be replaced as a factor. So again, focusing or laying some attention to what these Captain have done and are capable of is totally fine but it shouldn’t change the outlook of of this video. But that’s just how I see it and if I’m wrong somehow or you disagree then I have no problem with that. Just as long as we can have a nice discussion about it.
Anyway, now to the actual points. 1.) The battle at God Valley. We still know very little about it as a whole, we do know though that Roger fought together with Garp in a temporary alliance to stop the person we now know as Rocks D. Xebec. I don’t think that Rogers crew has ever been mentioned to participate in this battle, but I could be wrong or i have just forgotten it. But if they haven’t been mentioned being part of this then I’d say this is would be more of a showcase of Roger and Garps strength rather than Garps collective crew (and in this case the marines), as well as the Rocks Pirates strength. But like I said, we still know so little about this but more could very well be revealed about this further on that gives us more insight about this incident.
2.) The three days long battle between the Roger and the Whitebeard Pirates. This one we do indeed know more about. We may not know every little detail that transpired but we know that they fought pretty equally and that in the end, on the fourth day, they both ended the fighting which if we are still gonna hand out victories would in this case pretty much be a draw (I don’t remember the exact reasons why but they stopped the fight but since Roger and Whitebeard was pretty much equally friends as rivals I’d say they never truly wanted to take down each other even if they fought with all they had, but I don’t have anything to support this so I can only speculate).
But what is important to remember about Whitebeards crew at this period in time is that at this point his crew hasn’t really reached the massive force in strength and power it had during his attack on Marineford. I know that he had Oden in his crew at this point as well as Inuarashi and Nekomamushi, but the amount of members he would attain afterward I think more than make up for them leaving afterwards. It’s like he would exchange three strong members for a larger more organized group that. Also, even though these three would come to leave members like Marco, Jozu, Vista and Izou stayed. And like I said, many more would join. I’m not sure how big the crew is at the time of the fight between the Roger Pirates and the Whitebeard Pirates but the total amount of crew mates in just his main crew alon at the time of the Summit War is up to 1617 members (I’m not sure how specific these numbers are, for example I’m sure at this point Ace is still counted among these people but I don’t think Blackbeard would be counted as one among them. But as I said, I’m not sure).
And aside from the main crew there’s also the subordinate crews he commanded. I’m not sure how I would measure the strength of the captains from these crews compared to that of the commanders of the main crew but approximately I’d say on average a captain from a subordinate crew is at level that is somewhere between that of the Shinuchi and the Gifters from the Beasts Pirates (it’s hard to make a full comparison since we don’t get to see all or even that many of the captain from these crew in combat, but I would guess they’re weaker than most if not all the commanders but still stronger than the average pirate.) I used the Beasts Pirates as comparison cause I feel like of the four Emperor crews they are the most structured in terms of ranking. Then of course there’s also everyone else, the average pirate crew members that both the main crew and the subordinate crews must have had. While not as strong they do would make up in number.
I’m sorry for focusing so much on Whitebeard, I’m just trying to make my point come across as clear as I can. Im soon done with this point.
What I’m trying to say is that during this fight between Rogers and Whitebeards crew in particular, although Newgate himself may have been in his prime during this time and had some strong members with him, I don’t think that his crew had reached its peak yet. I’m sure the Roger Pirates could have fought the Whitebeard Pirates as we see them during the Summit War but they would have struggled more in that scenario.
3.) The Edd War. In terms of individual strength, then I agree. At this point, like you said, not only do we know that Gold Roger is suffering from a fatal decease, but this took place even before he became known as the king of the pirates. He has at this point gone toe to toe whit the likes of Garp and Whitebeard and either ended up in draws or victories and most draws you could argue only occurred to to circumstances. The only one singular person who has ever at this point been any actual trouble and/or danger towards him is Xebec and even though he did win the battle against him he needed the help of Garp and even with that knowledge there’s a lot of try’s battle we don’t know. But regardless, while there are some that can fight him equally there’s pretty much no person that at this point can completely outmatch him.
What’s more, even though we haven’t been given an exact comparison between Shiki’s overall strength next to the remaining remnants of the Rocks Pirates I think it’s safe to say that next to the likes of Whitebeard, Charlotte Linlin and Kaido he doesn’t hold the same standard. That isn’t to say he’s weak by any means, just the fact that he was part of the Rock pirates at all is evidence enough of that, but he can’t compare to much stronger pirates we’ve seen. So despite his proves Shiki doesn’t really have much to show for had he gone up against Roger alone. One final comparison between the two I would like to make is that if Roger had went to Marineford for whatever reason and went all out, no crew or anything with him, then it would have been more than half the base that would have been destroyed. So yeah, Roger would slap the ass of him in a one on one.
But again, this isn’t about just the captains but the crew as a whole. But to be fair I have a little hard time with this one. I agree that the Roger pirates are the stronger crew here, it’s just that some of the things that happened in this war is very coincidental, making things harder for me to measure the strength of both crews at the time. Like the giant wave crushing half of Shikis Fleet for example, had he (Shiki) been able to fight or even defeat the Roger Pirates if he hadn’t had his fleet cut in half like that? While I doubt the latter would be possible it is an interesting scenario to think about, how much longer would the two side have to fight each other before someone gave up or lost?
But I can’t with good confidence say that Shikis Fleet is stronger. In an alternate timeline or universe than maybe I could see them be on par with the Roger Pirates but as is the Roger Pirates, even we should remove Roger himself from the equation, are just to strong.

One thing that wasn't so strong about the Rocks Pirates was their bond. Everyone on the crew HATED each other, Kaidou didn't think very highly of Whitebeard, Big Mom hated her own captain, and Whitebeard wanted to get the hell out of there. This was ultimately what doomed their crew, because even though they were powerful beings, they really couldn't stand each other, unlike the Roger Pirates, who were longlasting because they were truly a family.

Pin me so everyone sees this, what I have to say is please, please, PLEASE, if you have watched One Piece anime but not read the manga, read the manga! vice versa, if you've read the manga watch the anime! I'm sure you can agree with this GrandLineReview, some spots are portrayed in different ways, so you should definitely experience both. I've read the manga, and I'm now halfway through the anime, im telling you it's well worth your time :).
Since one of the crews on this list belong to the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, shouldn't that automatically bump the Straw Hats higher?
This is the second time I've seen the big mom pirates fall short to the beast pirates and I get the argument, but considering how the big mom pirate are literally bread to be a Yonko crew. This isn't even mentioning how big moms fruit bolsters their forces quite heavily. Imo big mom's biggest strength should be her crew.
In terms of numbers and allied forces alone, Whitebeard, Kaido and Big Mom would DEFINITELY top this list. However, Rocks had all of them under his flag for a common interest before they became Emperors, something NOT to be underestimated or taken lightly, which the Navy tends to do for rookie forces like the Straw Hat pirates or the pre-time skip Blackbeard pirates.

When you say 100k, it makes me think that only 1 yonkou and beat the shit out of the marines. For comparison luffy with normal conq haki ( Still better than ace and kid) beat the living hell out of 50k fishi bois who were upto literal fishy stuff
Now if we look at luffy he has the advanced advanced version of the conq haki probably on par with shanks who if he was at the situation that luffy was in could probably and possibly beat the living shit out of 100k people with a blink of an eye (that's what oda told us) so luffy and his crew can probably without the help of his 5k members possibly "kill" or disable the entire marine force. So in theory whitebeard pirates are worse than the straw hats is what YOU would expect me to say but I wont, why you ask? Cuz whitebeard was so arrogant that he wasted his haki just to make 10 people faint and that my friend that is worse than pre-timeskip luffy who made at least 20 people faint just from shouting "YAMERO!". In short Whitebeard's haki was "Nerfed" by Oda OR it was a victim to the pre timeskip bullshit, before everything was established as it is now. i have a theory that the pirates from the worst generation will join the straw hat grand fleet when the anime is coming to an end. or maybe the pirates from the worst generation and and maybe other strong pirates will join forces and try to take down the straw hats and they team up with the navy or world gov. but luffy will call up his fleet and it will become a war of the best 2.0
