Hey, really enjoy your style/approach, and your tasting notes and reviews/opinion is just spot on for me. I am no expert, just an old guy who can afford to buy and enjoy some mid level booze, and loves sipping bourbon. Just keep doing you and do not stop because you have a core audience who really appreciates your work Peter. Kurt and Trent on SLB are real, Bourbon Van so honest, and you are right there. Appreciate the education notes you toss in, history, etc. it’s just a lane you own. Hope you reach your goal. We’ll be right here.

Wow! Thank you so much Mark. I really appreciate what you just said. It means a lot to me to hear this and I will certainly keep doing what I'm doing. Cheers!

Love your reviews. I do not have many ryes, so love watching reviews of them. I have Old Forester 100 Rye, Pikesville and New Riff Balboa Rye.

Thanks again Dave. I stated to appreciate rye whiskey in resent months. I have 12 in my collection right now, but only a few of them really stand out for me. I have not had the OF 100 or the New Riff. What do you think of them? I'm excited to see how I feel about rye whiskey by the end of my series. Cheers.

@@whiskeyisajourney I just received the New Riff Balboa, so will not open it until this weekend. OF Rye is good, and I also like Pikesville, maybe because it is one of those barely rye (51%).

I wasn't a cocktail drinker until we did this rye series. Now we are making cocktails all the time. Enjoy!

I love cocktails and the Sazerac is definitely at or near the top of my list. I usually use 1/2 rye, 1/2 cognac. The ryes I have used are Dickel and Knob Creek. I just bought some Sazerac rye and I'm looking forward to using it. Maybe I'll try your recipe too.

Great review and regardless of your 2nd time, that was a great cocktail display. I enjoy the Sazerac Rye, I bought it specifically to make the Sazerac cocktail and is truly delicious as you say. People argue over which recipe was the "original" for this, some say it was rye first, others say cognac, then someone else came up with your version, the New York Sazerac (split base) I love them all but this split base is my favourite of the 3.
Anders is a great barista. Serving "UP" basically means having stirred or shaken over ice, your drink is strained into the glass, not served with/over ice in the glass. Enjoyed this video, keep on doing what you're doing mate, very good.

Great information. I'm learning on the fly with all these cocktails so I appreciate the insight. I can see why people like making cocktails. There is an elegance to assembling and displaying the drinks to those that are drinking them. I'm enjoying it. Up next is the Old Fashioned. Cheers!

Another great review, Peter! Thanks for sharing. No reason you should not be at 2K subscribers!
This is one of the other few ryes that I’ve enjoyed…likely due to the barley legal rye mash bill and being rather sweet to me. I feel like if folks can find it for a good price, it’s a good one to keep on the shelf. I’m a Buffalo Trace fan, so this is a good one to have in the collection to me!

Thanks! Definitely a correlation between the lower rye percentage and sweetness. I tend to lean your way as well. The lower the rye the better. BUT higher rye percentages are growing in me. Cheers.

Baby saz is so smooth and honestly delicious esp for the very cheap price point. It’s my daily drinker.

That's great! It sits on the shelf here in Phoenix. Price is probably why.

Did anyone else try to close the Buffalo Trace window at the start of the video?

I had to go back and see what you were referring to. I clicked on the X. It did not close the window. 🤣
