      Can't argue with that line up. Solid! Great value picks as well.

      Just picked up some Cooper's Craft first time a couple of weeks ago. Solid.

    Great video. I’d go Coopers Craft 100, Knob Creek 9 yr (haven’t tried 12 yet!), Heaven Hill BIB, Early Times BIB, Jack Bonded

      Great choices. I have heard a lot of good things about Coopers Craft. I need to try it. Cheers!

    So true. the more you get into whiskey the more you lean towards higher ABV. I love strong tasting high proof whiskey. cheers

    Great video, Peter! You are doing a great job on this series. Solid list, and I think it covers a lot. It is tough to really suggest any other bottles, but my short list of honorable mentions would probably include Coopers Craft 100 to show what barrel influence can do to a bourbon. The Blood Oath sounds like a great bottle. Based on my collection, I’d probably go with EH Taylor Small Batch for my final bottle. Thanks for all of the great content!

      Coopers Craft is the one that they cut grooves into the staves right? EH Taylor or some other Buffalo Trace product will make its way into the Part 3 video. Looking forward to shooting that one.

      @@whiskeyisajourney yes, I believe they refer to it as “chiseled and charred”. I think of it as a bit of a play on a “double oaked”, even though it’s not truly put into a second barrel. But, to me, it has similarities to a Woodford Double Oaked and OF 1910 (more towards the later). Looking back at my notes, to me, it’s very sweet, brown sugar, and an orange cream richness. Looking forward to more of this series! Thanks!

    Four Roses Single Barrel.
    Wild Turkey Rare Breed.
    Eagle Rare 10 yr.
    Elijah Craig Barrel Proof.
    1792 Full Proof.
    5 great bourbons you can never go wrong with. All under 100 where I'm at in Germany... and yes Germany has fantastic whisky market. Find Blantons and all the allocated stuff here pretty easy. Great video.

      Great list. Some of these are going to make in on my Part 3 high proof/allocated bourbons video next month. Prost!

    The Knob Creek 12yo is excellent. I have to get an other bottle.

      When I first started my journey I did not like the Knob Creek profile, but now I really like it. I agree it's excellent.

    I’d agree with most of the choices but haven’t tried the Wilderness Trail or Evan Williams. I’d replace those two with 1792 BIB and New Riff. New Riff and 1792 are a little more complex at a reasonable price.
    I really liked early times last year but it seems different lately. It went from really good and a huge surprise at $25 to good.
    I’d probably swap out Pact 8 for EH Taylor. The pact 8 is okay, but a finished bourbon might be a little much for someone new to the drink to unpack. The Pact 8 is a little subtle (for me) and takes a little digging to enjoy vs something like the Penelope Rose. The EH Taylor will more or less let them taste why some things are allocated. 😊

      I am still looking for 1792 BIB, New Riff, and Penelope. They are not in my area, but I keep looking. EH Taylor or other Buffalo Trace products might make an appearance in my Part 3 video. Thanks for adding to the conversation jakeizlove. Cheers!

      @@whiskeyisajourney Sadly, posting here made me remember being out of New Riff. 😔
      I can’t buy more bourbon (right now) because there are already three bottles sitting out due to lack of space.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Space is an issue for me as well. I'm shooing in a 10x12 bedroom studio and because of my TH-cam channel I am running out of space for the whisk(e)y I have. It's everywhere! On the floor, in the closet, jammed 3 deep on the shelf. I am going to redo my shelves to accommodate my collection. Not looking forward to that. But I guess I'm lucky to even have the problem. That means I have a lot of whisk(e)y. 👍

    • @jakeizlove
      @jakeizlove ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@whiskeyisajourney I have room for one standard bottle. Two of the bottles sitting out are Blanton’s, and won’t work. I’m having friends over tonight and hope they make some space.

      Enjoy the night! Whisk(e)y is always better with friends.

    Great list! I think I'd go with:
    Cooper's Craft Reserve
    Old Forester 1897
    Wyoming Whiskey Double Cask
    George Dickel 13 year BiB
    Knob Creek 12 Year
    I haven't had the New Riff bottle in bond, but the single cask is fantastic, so that might be my special mention

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good list. Cooper's Craft is a popular choice for a few people. Looks like I'll have to pick up a bottle. Cheers!

      @@whiskeyisajourney I think of it like budget OF 1910. Main difference being 1910 hits you with a big blast of flavor all at once, while Cooper's has more distinctive front, mid palate and finish. Jason C at Mash & Drum recently blind tasted a bunch of $30ish bottles and Cooper's beat them all including WT 101.

    Wonderful choices Peter. I have the 4 Roses and Knob Creek 12 and enjoy them both.
    My bottle of the night would be Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast Bottled in Bond. An absolutely wonderful Bourbon.

    • @whiskeyisajourney
      @whiskeyisajourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      When I started out on my journey I did not like the nutty profile of the Knob Creek, but now I really like it a lot. Redwood Empire is delicious. I don't get the Grizzly Beast in my market, but there other stuff I do get is nice.

    EW BiB
    WT 101

      I'm not versed in the cigar culture, but 250 cigars sounds like a lot. Is it?
