Had the pleasure of meeting Kurt for the first time today - Happened to run into him at Bee Liquor - such a nice guy and took a couple minutes to talk about todays episode and the channel -

That's a pretty awesome gift. And based on Trenton's expression when Kent talks about the price I'd guess it was at the higher end of that range.
They do have more casks of this mash bill aging, so they could do another release.
So glad to see it opened and shared with people who cherish the opportunity. Really enjoyed this one!
Old Overholt 10 is the same Distillate, just 3 years younger. Since the Bookers Rye is unobtainable. That is a substitute.
PLEASE DO THAT. Live show finishing this bottle. Maybe a sit-down bring in more of the family. I can see that being a big hit.
I happened to meet Kent on Monday night and to say he was excited to film this video and taste the rye is an understatement. Was great to meet you.

I didn't even know this bottle existed. It came up on a conversation I had yesterday and it popped up on my feed.
My unicorns are still William LaRue Weller, George T Stagg, Eagle Rare 17, Russell's 13, Jack Daniel Coy hill and 12 year, Michter's 10 yr. I'm new to Bourbon, just a year in, so my unicorn list is long. 😂😂
That was special. I doubt I will ever get to try a sip of this, let alone own a bottle, but thanks for sharing the experience!

my father-in-law had a bottle of liquor he got in Eastern Europe in the early 1980s on a Navy deployment.
whenever it was opened - to share a sip with a friend or loved one, all that ever made it into a glass was an actual sip.
the bottle & its contents were irreplaceable, and - without simply letting it collect dust - he managed to make it last over 20 years.
I had the privilege of trying this last weekend. It was a fresh crack and the wax exploded just the same as yours. Such an amazing bottle of whiskey. Cheers guys!

I have this bottle and I open it once a year for my son’s birthday. Typically have a 1 ounce pour of it and move on. When my son reaches 18 or 21 we can share this together.

My favorite, that I can find on the shelf whiskey, is Knob Creek 12. They all have some seriously sketchy wax.

New video Idea for the future: make a couple infinity blends of the best ryes you have going back a few years and maybe including 2024 and then bring Kent back and blind them against the Booker's Eye.
My biggest unicorn is WLW, luckily I will be able to try some this Sunday. One of my buddies won it through a raffle and is bringing it to our monthly whiskey/cigar club.. I AM VERY EXCITED!

I'm fairly new to bourbon/whiskey, only been at it for a few years, but the best bourbon I ever had was on the Michter's Distillery tour and they gave us a taste of the Toasted Barrel Rye and oh, boy...if I could find a bottle now, I would been in bourbon/whiskey heaven. :)
I wish yall would have busted out the Old Overholt 10 for a little comparison at the end. Awesome that yall got to try out that bottle.
I had no idea this was a thing!? I must have one now!! A couple of my dream bottles are the BTAC ER, OF President's choice, Michter's 10's, of course the KOK, Russell's Single Rickhouse to name a couple.
Truly a great bottle. And it would be nice if they would do a tribute bottle for Noe Booker a yearly release of this. Similar to the Parker heritage bottle. Of course it would be 13 years from now but something their marketing team should look into. Great show guys.

awesome stuff . Now I don’t know if ya’ll been fortunate enough to try it but Old Overholt 10 year cask strength is pretty pretty good. Highly recommend getting your hands on a bottle.

Pretty cool you got to try. Based off the prices online I'm sure it's not worth it. Now to buy and hold as an investment I could see but not to drink. But pretty awesome you got to share it with family. That's the best part.

I've had a thought...
I've come across some people who say they can, by taste, differentiate between bourbon and Tennessee whisky. I'm no expert on either, but I've tried both, and to me they all taste like bourbon (and indeed, based on all the facts I have, I've concluded that Tennessee whisky is a variety of bourbon, just as high rye and four grain whiskies which conform to the rules of bourbon are varieties of bourbon). It would be interesting to see y'all test that thesis. If y'all could do an episode where you blind taste Tennessee whiskies and regular bourbons of similar proof and price, and see if y'all could tell which was which, that would be mighty interesting. 🙂

Haha, I just broke open a KC12 and needed a knife to get the wax off. The wax did not cooperate one bit before grabbing the knife.
What's funny is the last four KC 9 Year 100 proof I've gotten no issues with wax I got a 120 proof Single Barrel Select no issues with wax. Got a 9 Year Single Barrel was a disaster with wax 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Funny Story! I went to one of my favorite bars, and there was a new girl working behind the bar. I saw the bookers rye on the shelf, and out of curiosity I asked how much for a pour? She replied "$15". I didn't ask any further questions and asked for a pour, and then another, and another. I was surprised why it was so cheap. After getting my receipt, I found out why. She rang it up as bookers bourbon. I went back the following weekend and the usual bartender was there. I asked how much for a pour, he replied, $75.
Quite the acquisition. Congratulations. So what did it end up costing? And how does it compare to the Jack Daniels barrel proof and/or twice barreled?

I remember seeing this on the shelves a few times when it was released. Too bad I don’t have a time machine. I have seen several bottles in the past I wish I could go back and pick up when I saw them for retail price.
I Hear that the Old Overholt 10 year is the closest Jim Beam product with the similar Mashville, or same Mashville as the famous Booker rye
I was fortunate enough to be gifted a bottle of this when it released, and I can confirm that it’s damn good. I will, however add that I believe this to be the bourbon drinker’s rye, as it drinks more like a bourbon than a rye in my opinion. So I’d assume the corn content on this one to be quite high.

I traded a Macallan edition 2 for a 2021 THH and 2oz of the Bookers rye, Was a special rye for sure.
Probably will never get to try that one. Prices online are around $2,500 and up.
with high proof ==> take a small sip just to get the mouth used to the high alcohol content, then take the "real" sip for taste, feel, finish, experience
