Hi Sue congratulations on five years 🎉🎉🎉. I have very different skin despite being around the same age (I am 52), with rosacea, eczema and chronic dryness 😂(I am being investigated for nutritional deficiencies due to some GI issues which may be contributing to the dryness, but it is six years since my last period so I’m fully menopausal and not on HRT). My favourite and repurchased items are therefore very different (I live in Scotland so some brands may be more accessible or priced differently here). They are as follows:
Bioderma sensibio misceller water- for me it’s far far better than the Garnier and doesn’t dry my skin like the Garnier does. I can find good deals on it, so it’s not that much more money here. I’m also in love with their new biphase version which takes off waterproof like a dream and is better than the Lancome bifacil.
Kate Somerville Delikate cleanser- yes I know it’s spendy and I only buy it when it’s on sale but I just love it for my ultra sensitive skin.
Ti’am vita B5 toner- super affordable from the likes of yesstyle or Stylevana and has a great INCI list with peptides etc, but it’s sooo hydrating due to the panthenol it’s named after.
Jin jung sung essence and omega serum- ok it’s cheating at two products but I use them at different times of year. Both are 200mls and used as an essence step for me. They are each around £25 with excellent INCI lists and really soothe/hydrate my dry skin. I think you would like the essence better for combo skin but it’s a great product for a decent price.
Azelaic acid 15% (finnacea gel on prescription) - I find it keeps my skin really clear and helps with redness. It does keep my rosacea mostly calm but I have an occasional flare at times. As a bonus it has refined the texture in my skin quite a bit with prolonged use and faded freckles.
Lumene fragrance free night cream- a newer favourite at a decent price. It is moisturising with out being greasy on my skin and my spf sits well on top. In the Winter I layer a balm over it at night btw.
Ultrasun spf - I have used this brand for about fifteen years and love the longer wear aspect to it. I still top up with the spray if I’m out for a prolonged period in the sun, but otherwise it sits underneath my makeup well all day.
Zelens mask - ok another spendy one but it’s one of the few AHA type products I can really use. I get a glow without irritation and smooth skin.
Benton goodbye redness sheet mask - a rescue remedy for stressed out skin. It hydrates parched skin and really does reduce redness/irritation.
There you go my favourites and most repurchased items that are still available (a couple of longstanding items have been discontinued 😢). Best wishes x

Hi Loraine. Such fabulous recommendations! Thank you so much. I agree 100% that the Bioderma micellar water is THE BEST. Unfortunately, it is very expensive here. I love reading all your other recommendations - I am salivating at the choice you have available in Scotland. I do hope that your nutritional deficiencies are resolved! The Zelens mask also sounds amazing and I'm glad that it's compatible with your skin type. Thank you again for all the info xx

I’m printing Loraine’s list to refer to. I think we have very similar skin and the products sound amazing. Thanks, Loraine!

@@traceybiller9458 I’m glad you found it helpful. Another cleanser I have repurchased many times and is more affordable is the Avene antirougours cleansing milk - it’s a great product and actually works as a single cleanser taking off makeup and spf etc. The acid mask doesn’t have a real alternative but I also like the Paula’s choice 1% BHA or cosrx ABC toner gives some gentle clarity with regular use. xx

@@traceybiller9458 it's really worthwhile doing that. Sometimes I wish I had Loraines skin type, just to be able to use some of these gorgeous products x.

Congrats on 5 years!!! I love your discerning, yet unpretentious and lighthearted approach to all of this! This channel is relaxing, escapism for me!
I find I keep going back to Avenue intense rehydrating serum. I don’t have much time to muck around in the morning, so I appreciate the pump mechanism. It’s easy for me to purchase - literally available from the pharmacy down the road, so I stock up once a month. Not that cheap, but less expensive than luxury brands. About $35. Easy to throw into a weekend away bag. I can feel my skin drink it up. It doesn’t sit on top of my skin and it’s non greasy and I notice a difference in my appearance immediately after putting it on! The Avene Cleanance skin refining serum is quite good, however I keep defaulting back to the rehydrating serum!

Thank you for your lovely comment 🤗. I appreciate it! I've heard only good things about the Avene hydrating serum. I may have to try it one of these days! I like that it has a pump too. Much more convenient than a dropper bottle.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is good. Did you try the waterproof version with a blue cap? I like that one maybe because it easily takes away my waterproof mascara.

What a delicious looking jacket Sue! I knew Garnier would be your first mention :) Sooo many great recommendations from you and in the comments. I’d love it if you did another morning and evening routine go over. I get confused about the order of things when actives are concerned. My go-to sunscreen is still LaRoche Posay Anthelios in the weirdly shaped bottle.

Thanks Tracey! The jacket is from a thrift shop. I love it! I hear you about the order of actives. Will work on a skincare video routine x

Hi Sue. My most repurchased skincare products are: Neutrogena hydroboost cleanser (the pump is handy in the shower, it is gentle on my sensitive eyes, and it works well for me); Nivea Q10 moisturisers (I tried the Neutrogena hydroboost moisturiser, it's really nice, but I prefer the Nivea); the Nivea Q10 sunscreen (very similar to the anti-shine but I prefer the Q10); and Skin Functional's retinaldehyde (I considered buying the retinoic acid ester, which you recently mentioned, but decided to stick with their retinaldehyde, I think its a great product). My morning serum varies. I really like the Revolution vit C, but I also like a niacinamide serum. I think I might try the newish Sorbet vit C next, which has vit e, ferulic acid and niacinamide!
And by the way, I love my new pencil brush, which I recently purchased from you ❤.

Hi Lynne. I'm so glad you're enjoying the pencil brush! I have been very tempted to try the Nivea Q10 range, which I might do going forward. I love the Revolution vit c too, it is a great one. I've also used the Skin functional retinaldehyde in the past and really enjoyed it. Their products are great! Thank you for the heads up on the Sorbet vit c. I will definitely look out for it. We seem to have very similar skincare choices xx

Congratulations on the anniversary! I like the Bioderma miceller water and use the one to take off water proof (have also used the Garnier water proof and it's good, too) as they contain some lipids. I can use all over my face and skip the oil cleanser step if in a hurry. Really enjoy Biophora products for exfoliation. Made here in Canada.xo

The Bioderma micellar is hands down the best, just very pricey here. I will definitely be Googling the Biophora range! 🤗
