53:20 guy in the background speaking the truth about reyes after watching him pot undoubtedly the best shot in the match. ive been watching reyes since i was a little kid (27 now). its hard seeing efren getting older, although hes still amazing. i guess even legends have to get older. thank you efren "bata" for all you do.
I've looking for the rules, but I can't find the one that explain this move. So when, you hit the next ball that you have to score, if you hit that one, but then it hits the last ball (striped one), you win the point? He does the same thing in a previous play. I didn't know that kind of play. Thanks and sorry for the akward explanation in the question!
Swishman yup, its a win. its called a combination shot. in 9 ball (the game being played here) as long as you hit the lowest numbered ball first, anything that gets pocketed after that is good. if that is the 9ball, then you win.

The best thing about this video is no commentary. Most pool commentary is brutal. This video feels more like you have a seat at the venue, and you can enjoy great pool without hearing someone go on and on and on...

Eklant is the slowest, most indecisive player I have seen in over 30 years. The shot clock was created for guys like him.

This kid is still a teenager. He can beat anyone Efren, Earl, Busti, Orcullo, Melling, Souquet, you name it. He is on SVB level and is getting better.
Not as exciting as Jayson Shaw but has the mental toughness to be multiple world champions.

Efren just missed an 8-ball combo, but not because of his lack of skill, but because he's playing on Diamond tables with their tight pockets. Efren would have made that combo on any other table because Diamond tables are the most undesirable tables to play on to pro-players in general. Steve Mizerak says Brunswick is the best table for pro-players. That said, what a great kick shot Eklent made on the 3-ball giving back some of Efren's own magic.
This wasn't his first time on a diamond. Even the best isnt a robot

Eklent’s indecision getting up and down from a shot like he’s
not certain what he wants to do is making him miss, like when it was 7 to 7 he shot
the 8-ball all jacked up ending up not getting good position on the 9-ball
resulting in him not making this last shot. He didn’t have to do that. He could
have easily shot the 8 with side spin to get it down to the 9 for an easy shot.
As it was, Efren made the 9-ball and got on the hill instead of him. It may
have likely lost him the match as well.

08 shooter 9o I'm a 60 year-old retired Chicago union carpenter on pension. I go downstairs every day into the basement of my paid for townhouse and practice on my vintage 1970s 9 foot gold crown in the custom mahogany lined billiard room that I built myself, which is located in the lovely Chicago suburb of Park Ridge Illinois.
Meanwhile, one of the greatest nine ball sharks in history (Earl Strickland) was recently so bankrupt, that Hall of Fame Billiards in Brooklyn New York puts him up in a cheap motel room (so that he can have a place to sleep !). In turn, Earl is their house pro.
Did you ever notice that the great Efren Reyes does not have a single tooth in his head - not one ? Ever wonder why ?
Eklent Kaci is an excellent player - very impressive. But he will never be a millionaire. He plays pool for a living, and there's very little money in the game of pool today. What was his take for finishing up there in the top five or six in this tournament ? $600. 600 bucks ! Now that I think of it, it's just quite possible that this kid doesn't have better clothes to wear to a pool tournament.
The game of pool is even less prestigious than the game of bowling, and big-time pool tournaments rarely see well sponsored television time anymore. And there are very few guys outside of the top 20 who make a decent living playing on the Pro Bowlers Tour.
So just think of what it must be like spending your whole life driving around the country living in cheap Motel 6s and dining on fast food, and wondering if you can hustle up enough money to get a room for tonight ? Because that's the life most of these guys live, sir.
In short, I have no doubt I made the correct decision to become a union carpenter with full benifits, rather than drive around the country living in my car, while trying to become a pool star.

U guys that talk crap about kaci know that he beat shaw recently too right? he plays the way he plays....you thumbsuckers probably couldn't play half as good as he does even if you took twice as much time (The all around A players in the comments, i hope you see this).... Kaci is a rising star, just sit back and watch.

Actually, it is not what you think. Sometimes, if a person feels the pressure, doing simple things like that can minimize that pressure. It gives him time to recollect his thoughts. He was actually very smart to do that. If you watched some of the younger up and coming kids, they tend to rush their shots. Most of the time, they ended up missing it. It is better to take the time to think "over" the shot when it is your turn then to think "about" the shot after you missed it.
Efren with the white hair these days. We need to start calling him the Wizard.
He plays medium paced. You don't know what slow is.

Eklent actually technically fouled at 13:26 as he grabbed the balls before the cue ball stopped moving after the combination shot. I don't make the rules. You should never move stuff around before all balls come to rest AND stop spinning. especially in a high level tournament. You are asking for trouble if you do. Of course i realize the few more inches that the cueball rolled would not change the outcome, but it is still technically a foul.
all you ppl i dont know where you all come from but as someone said if your not playing at the table sit your ass down and have a sip what does fast or slow play has anything to play with good pool where are you rushing to. good pool is played at a moderate pace less mistakes being more precise. ask yourselve why ur not where he is and then u will understand. congrats efren and kaci well played

is it just me but it appears kaci is purposely trying to manipulate the rack at 6:49. He appears to move the center ball to create an "L" gap with his thumb when he is removing his rack and watch when he breaks the wing ball shoots right into the corner pocket. He also looks up to see if anyone saw him almost guiltily. Anyone agree?

@@Dunkcity5994 Have you ever been to the DCC? If you keep on winning, it can be a very long exhausting day from playing a lot of matches. In addition, these guys also gamble. If the tournament doesn't have a dress code, it is better to wear something that is comfortable.
However, pool will only reach a high status if the players start to present themselves better. After all, 3-cushions tournaments require players to wear dress pants and a monkey vest.
