Efren Reyes vs Chris Melling
ACD pool tournament was held at The Orleans Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. There were a lot of great matches with a very strong Pro field on the Men and Women's side.
This is the 2018 ACD match between Efren Reyes vs Chris Melling.

Asian Culture Day
I want to educate you on a monumental event that's happening in the great city of Las Vegas.
Last year, the Senate passed a bill, which was signed off by Nevada's governor Brian Sandoval, proclaiming May 18th as Asian Culture Day here in the state of Nevada.
As a Taiwanese born in Taipei Taiwan, I am very honored to be able to say I was a part of this festivity and I would like to invite you to come celebrate with us. We are throwing a big party all thru out Las Vegas from May 16th thru the 19th 2018 to celebrate the Asian Culture Day Holiday.
There will be multiple events thru out Las Vegas from the Fremont Experience, to the Rio Resort & Casino, and at the Orleans Casino.
One of the events, which I'm the producer of, is the 1st Annual Asian Culture Day Pool Tournament. For the pool enthusiasts, Efren Reyes is coming. For the people who don't know who he is, he's the greatest player that has ever lived. He is allowing us to call this his "Retirement Tour". We will also be presenting him with the first Annual ACD lifetime achievement award. HUGE!!!

They both are not only excellent players but also very likeable. Enjoying the game, laughing over mistakes and congratulating each other. So much fun to watch them.

Chris Melling controls his cue ball as well as Efren Reyes. I love Efren Reyes, but I also appreciate Chris Melling.

Chris Melling is a gangster. I have learned so much just watching him play. And just like you said about his cue ball control…he makes it look so effortless. But that skill is only made through countless hours of hard work and practice
At 17:00 look at the shot the girl does on the opposite table, lol crazy.
What's even crazier, is Chris calls a VERY similar shot at that moment as well; pretty cool

beautiful shot but I don't think she meant that pocket. It looks like she lost her turn but the other girl passed the turn back. Which they are allowed to pass the turn back according to the rules stated in efren and Chris game in the beginning. Assuming the girls have the same rules going on.
It was passed back to her. She did not mean to hit it in that pocket.👍

The score didn't change at 41:10. Efren sank the ten in the corner. Sank the ten in the opposite corner at 45:24. The score should be four all at Efren's next break.

Seemed Melling had a better feel for the speed of the table than Efren this match. 1:11:03 case in point, five rails from 2 to 3, gorgeous.

Theres room for more than one magician,and I bet if you asked Chris who was the original Magician he would say Efren,when you start talking to the top players from around the world and starting talking about the pool greats,Efren`s name always pops up,not only for his vision and knowledge of the game but as a genuinely nice person on and off the table.

I bet Chris would also throw little girl hissy fit over chalk being on pool table like he did here to Efren. Sure snooker players like to keep chalk in pocket, but you don't fucking have too. Factually about the most economic place for it, IS on the pool table. So sorry some of us don't like to spend our time putting stuff in and out of our pocket.

i love how efren is still curious about how he missed his earlier shot (1:21:16) by trying the shot again in the end. that shows us even the god of pool is still on his learning process.

Chris Melling is a very good pool player, and he has a very good ability of controlling the cue ball as Efren Reyes. This is an amazing game.
I really want to punch that guy who named Chris as The Magician. That name belongs to Efren.. I respect Chris but they should have chosen a different nickname for Chris. That is so disresfecful because Efren is still alive and in fact still playing!

CAN'T KEEP SCORE? At 37:39 it was 2 to 4 Melling. At 41:00 Efren wins (commentator says 4 to 3) but it STILL remains 2 to 4 Melling! At 45:31 Efren wins yet again and now it's 3 to 4 Melling??? So Efren wins the last 2 racks but his score only increases by 1 point, 3 to 4. It should be tied at this point: 4 to 4!
FINALLY they correct the score at 47:30 after running the wrong score for over 7 minutes - oblivious to the scoring error which started at 41:00. STOP texting and pay attention to the game!!!
I like how the Magician after running out perfectly to bring the score 4-3 he goes to empty a pocket of balls that dont exist, they come out bottom end chute of course. I do it all the time myself and remember on tables, its called getting old.

Chris' cue action is just so much better than Efren's. I sometimes am incredulous that Efren manages to play so well with that action.

Score keeper is asleep on the job. That woman's whistling T's and S's are annoying as hell. She should get her dentures adjusted. And the sound engineer is obviously deaf.

Out of all the you tube vids I’ve watched on Reyes, this is the only time I’ve seen him lose a match...and here he’s well past his prime. Definitely the goat.
so you haven't seen the one where he loses to steve davis? davis is 8-2 down and comes back to win. this reyes guy is so overrated. and davis isn't even a pool player. id love to see some of these pool players try snooker. they'd get blasted off the table. snooker players can play pool at the top level but pool players aren't even top 500 in snooker.
and btw, davis is also well past his prime and retired from snooker years ago,. snooker players only play pool for a laugh. they don't take it serious at all. if they did they'd totally dominate.

Chris got lucky, efren wasnt in his best form. U can see why he's the greatest tho after the game ends he gets up to the table and tries again that shot on the 8 that cost him the game

What am I missing here? At 20:07 Chris misses the 2 ball after a legal hit, but pockets the 9 in the side. Then Efren steps up and looks at the 2 as if he's going to shoot it. He seems to consider it, then defers back to Chris. Wasn't it Chris's shot all along?? Couldn't find easy answer by googling....I mean how do you phrase the search?
Isn't the rule same as 9 ball? Contact lowest ball, and anything else is fair game?
In 10 ball, you have to call all your shots. If you make a shot that you didn't call, the opponent can either shoot or give it back to the player.

The banter and stories at one hour 8 minutes to one hour 11 minutes are awesome. What a fun match to watch, from players to commentators. 👍

20:23 This here is why old heads should stop complaining about jumpshots and just learn it. Efren, the greatest kicker in the game gave the shot back to melling because he was snookered, but melling just effortlessly jumps it in. Jump shots are a part of the game so just suck it up and learn how to jump. It also forces players to play better safety plays anyway so it’s a win win.
Depends what ruleset you play. Lots of people think jump shots reduce the tactical element of the game
