I could watch Efren all day, every day. His shot selection is so far advanced and tricky, it's insane. It's watching the Mona Lisa being painted in the same room full of people with crayons.
Just his creativeness and just pure ability to bring to life what he thinks on the pool table is just pure art. I agree brother I could sit and watch him all day

They're two great guys is all I have to say. I know it was a thrill for Corey to be able to play Efren, the guru and idol for countless young players. Efren is the King for modern players of all abilities.
Very relaxing just to watch and hear nothing but the rest of the pool hall in the background.

@Pickel Sandwich That's such a stupid argument. If that was valid then there wouldn't be books about half the things in the world. At the least it would be a good read. At best, a talented guy could look at the book for info and inspiration.

@Pickel Sandwich Gosh you're narrow minded. There's not much literature on billiards and golf technique. What do you think? Did Mozart not learn a thing as a kid from music books? Also the Philippines is not exactly a place known for literacy.
Deuel ain't really that bad in playing one pocket otherwise he won't be able to get to Round 8 if he doesn't have knowledge and ability in this game, i thought he just played a horrible game here. But the reality that one must understand is, it's never easy to play One Pocket against Efren, considered by many as the Master of this game. Efren won this DCC One Pocket tournament a record of 6 times (1999, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2014). 2006 was one of Efren's dominating and super impressive performance wherein the crowd reaction was noticeable in appreciation of Efren's performance. He was interviewed by Bill Incardona after the game, the video still in youtube titled Thank You Mr. Reyes. Efren's ability in playing this game is simply unsurpassed!

That last kick shot had such an audible "THUD" when it hit the bottom of the pocket.
So fun and exciting to watch Efren Reyes maneuver the balls to his advantage. He surely elevated One Pocket to another level that players of this game will cherish and remember him for.

Its so hard to watch these great matches without the old commentators. They make the match so much more interesting when they talk about possible shots and how the game may turn out.

Damn Corey played really really well here and still lost 3-0. I think you gotta play a tiny bit more aggressive against Efren. That was too conservative waiting for Efren to make a mistake, meanwhile he's improving his position and trapping you. Also miscuing doesn't help. Corey played a little tight here, Efren's mental game was fire as always, even got careless a few times.

my friend was just up the derby city this year 2022 and said efren and corey had a money match game going but he diidnt feel like staying omg . who knows when the last time efren will visit but i havent been able to find it on utube

How do you play this game?
Breaker designates a corner pocket, and breaks so as to get balls towards it or make-able to it. The other corner is the opponent's. The four other pockets are neutral. First to make majority of balls wins the rack. High finesse game. Chess of the billiard games.
Deuel checks the level of the table after Reyes wins the first game.
Shooting a ball down the same rail Reyes had just made a cut down. No roll-off detectable.

How does one pocket work?
You have one pocket to put eight balls in one hole. To win, you make 8 balls in your hole. End pockets are used to shoot to.

What should players do if there arent enough balls for a player to run out in in one inning? For example, owing one ball initially with no balls in my pocket so a total score of -1, my inning begins. My opponent has 7 balls made which leaves 8 balls on the table for me to run, but I need 9, how should we proceed? I don't have a ball to spot and I dont think my opponent spots a ball before the inning begins. Do I spot the first ball I make and then continue the inning? I dont know what to do here. thx in advance, Cheers
Any time you owe a ball -1, you make as many balls in sequence as you can when it's your shot, and once you miss you spot the ball you owe. Hope this helps

Since each player only has ONE POCKET that they can score with, no it is not call shot.

1 pocket, each player gets a corner pocket on the same end of the table. It's probably the most complex game you play on a pool table. If you break just a little wrong it's game over with a good player. Even great shooters are out played by great thinkers when it comes to one pocket.

favorite move of Efren is the beginning when he circles the table and half reaches into every pockeet even though the table has a ball return.
One pocket players do that a lot to make sure no one stacking balls in the run, so if they pocket a ball two will drop and they put two in there side of the table. It's not something that people really worry about in these tournaments but a lot of people will cheat while gambling. It's just a habit for efren, he gambles in a lot of sketchy places with sketchy opponents

Cheating is a pet peeve of mine. I played in a local pool league until recently. I'd won the 'best record' trophy and was my team's MVP. The league has an MVP tournament after playoffs. When I looked at the lineup for this double elimination tourney, I found that I and another top player each had TWO byes. I called the director on it. He refused to change it. I put my cue away and walked out. I couldn't see any reason to play in a trophy tournament with that edge.
Ironically, my team captain kicked me off the team. I guess I take this stuff too seriously. I learned about honesty and integrity at a very early age, playing golf. Things like this really rub me wrong.
look inside I get frustrated when the Tournament Director do not know how to fill in a bracket with byes in the wrong spots. Two byes were against each other in the one loss side. So frustrating.

started playing pool regularly in my early twenties. It was a good 20 years before I fully realized the benefit of practicing 1-hole. Once you get proficient at 1 pocket, it makes break and runs in other billiard games a whole lot easier. Wish I'd taken up the game much, much earlier in retrospect.

WOW! I though poker was the most boring game on earth but this one takes the cake. Definitely it needs some tweaks for sure. One suggestion: Set a time for each shot (1min is about right), Deue is taking so much time between each shot, so boring and unnecessary.
I play all the billiard games including snooker. One pocket is much harder than most billiard games primarily due to the safety involved, but also because of the ingenuity required to manufacture some of the shots. One pocket makes any billiard player a better billiard player.
If you watch the accu-stats one pocket videos they do that. Definitely improves the pace.

One pocket ain't Duel's game. Corey sees only 9-ball shots, never seem to use a draw on the cue ball when close to a rail limiting possible positions, try more then one rail banks or reverse banks. Definitely a 9-ball player.1
There is no doubt that Corey is a good player but he seems to be getting worse in One Pocket every time i see him play! He constantly looks for dead balls in the Rack and Fires at them. That may work against Hackers but not World Class players.
