  • Here is a DIY how-to and cook-off comparison of theater popcorn vs. kettle corn.
    Be sure to watch the bonus video after the credits, because, the boxing ring was drawn by myself on my iPad using Procreate.
    This is a vegan recipe as long as you do not add butter.
    I have been chasing that elusive viral video, and I think this may be it. Viral to me equal 100k views.

    So many great tips, thank you! I'm glad you showed the chart from the instructions too, I finally found one of these at a thrift store and it had none. Definitely going to order some of that mushroom popcorn.

    I just tried my first batch. I put a sample in a zip lock bag and dated it so that I can track my progress as I learn more. I didn't have the Act II butter thou. I will need to procure some. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to post your video. It was very informative.

    Try cooking with a mix of 50/50 coconut oil & ghee (clarified butter). Gives you the wonderful butter flavor but without any of the water. Yum!

    For the fluffiest popcorn: Use a heavy pot and I like canola oil. Get the oil as hot as possible BEFORE adding the kernels. (NEVER add kernels to cold oil) I use med high heat. (The hotter the better) Just be careful not to burn it. Burnt popcorn sucks! Use a vented lid so the steam can escape and not get your popcorn all soggy. I don't shake shit! There's enough shaking going on with each pop of the kernels to keep things moving. I then dump it all in a box, close the top and shake so the small stuff exits out the narrow slits I made in the box. You know, the unpopped kernels and small crap no one wants to eat. I add some Flavacol and maybe some butter, mix it up and dump it into the serving bowl. DONE. I like the box because it's big and each and every popcorn is coated pretty much equally.

    I know this is an old video..and it has oil. I had an oil popper in the 80s..it was shaped kinda like this one but its gone now. have no idea what brand it was. but Now Im looking and looking for an air popper that pops 16 to 24 cups..one that DOESNT shoot out unpopped kernels. can anyone make suggestions as Ive had 2 that werent good at all. Thanks.

    You should have a sprayer bottle with the yellow popcorn oil that you can spray on the popped corn. Just a little because you said the popped corn was dryer than you thought it would be.

    I think it would help you evenly coat the salt by putting it in with the oil and the kernels. It's hard to toss the popcorn with salt after it's been cooked since they all stick together due to the sugar.

      I quit adding salt to the oil because it makes such a mess. But thanks

    Excuse me~ I have question for you
    How to wash this machine?
    Is this machine have waterproof?
    Thank your feedback. :D

    • @Mity_Moose
      @Mity_Moose  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry Firetruck, it is not waterproof. I found out the hard way and toasted it thinking i could wash it by holding it at an angle. Water still got inside.
      Well, I now have a new one, cuz they work so well, and now i use a paper towel and vinegar and just wipe it clean. Works well.

    Anhydrous butter fat makes theater popcorn, theater popcorn. That and regular table salt. I made the popcorn at the movie theater I used to work at.

    • @Mity_Moose
      @Mity_Moose  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't argue with that. And, with all the medical flip flopping on health, I am not even sure coconut oil is any healthier. Oh well, I still cannot walk into a theater and NOT get popcorn.

    • @Boodieman72

      Coconut Oil and Flavacol butter salt is what make theater popcorn.
