Story time.... in 1996 my buddy Gustavo and I road from my place up to Oregon and then down into northern California... turned west on hwy 299 and headed for the Calif.
coast in 105 degree heat. Came to a turn off at a bridge and saw a trail down to the river under the bridge. I pulled out my wallet and keys ........ and with clothes and helmet and gloves
on I walked into the water! Felt soooo good!!

Since I have a21' GS Adventure.....I have tried the HD and agree with your assessment....also a lot of plastic on it...especially if you dump it and pick up...the plastic guards have broken on others....need to refine...but engine was nice and responsive...it will push BMW which is good for everyone....safe travels....

your a bit off- don't have to go through downtown Sturgis to travel beyond, unless you chose a specific destination. freeway takes you to Yellowstone, back around to Devils Tower. don't always stick to side roads even though they are fun. You can lay down a lot of miles via main road to get to the excitement.

Just my opinion, but Harley Davidson doesn't make positive changes very quickly. Although I was pretty angry with them when they cancelled their most beautiful HD, the 2018-2020 Deluxe. I bought mine in 2018 for my 66th birthday, as it was the only Softail that was loaded with chrome. I would have l liked it if it offered a touring model more like the Heritage. I made mine into a touring model It is loaded. I don't agree with you on the Pan American for your living on a bike. You would be better off getting a touring bike equipped with probably a 114 M8. Lots of power and useful modern accessories for your kind of riding. If you want to keep it simple and add on some things you prefer, then consider a Heritage 114 with the M8 you will appreciate the lighter weight and power (My Deluxe weighed in at 700 lbs). Anyway, everything to their own. All the best.

Thanks for the info on Sturgis Campground except those of us who ride Sport Touring Motorcycles, Moto Guzzi Lemans, that have clip-ons are a real handful on dirt roads. You know there is not a motorcycle museum or MC bar anywhere in the US that does not have an original Captain America Chopper. Fonda must have built several hundred of them :) I've been to the black hills at least 20 times, Sturgis rally once. That was enough for me but there is no place I like more than the hills. OK about the Pan America. I was watching Million Dollar Bogan who took out a demo bike and had some issues. You should go check out his video of his experience on it. The one thing he said was that it has some kind of traction control which gave him fits AND it is very heavy. I suggest looking at those videos before you do anything and if you want something like that get a GS and save the headaches of the Harley :)

I enjoy your shows. But don't like your comments on K-RIVER.

We don't have any issue with K-River. Adam Sandoval is awesome. Is there something we don't know about?

There are hundreds of words I could use to describe motorcycle riders who are afraid to use a 'Road' bike on a dirt road that's in good condition. Afraid, unskilled, unqualified to ride anywhere, without the smallest amount of courage, and the list goes on. Sure, road bikes are heavy but they are no less controllable than an off road one, if you truly know how to ride. Spending all your time only riding paved surfaces is simply a waste of riding experiences and dumbs down your riding skills. If you are afraid to become one with your machine and follow its lead where it wants you to take you, you're are not a rider, you're merely a driver and anyone with limited abilities can lean how to drive. So what if you fall over on the dirt, it's a far sight better than hitting pavement at 70 MPH and your chances of dying are not nearly as high. Get dirty, have some fun, savor the experience and learn some valuable skills you can take back to the pavement with you.
