In the Hess’s wing was The Limited (I worked there in the early 90s), Casual Corner, The Deb Shop, a kiosk Gemstone Jewelry, and Amend’s Jewelers with the bright blue tiles. 😊

Oh yes were are being TREATED with this crown american gem!! Namdar is really letting that roof get leaks in some spots, hopefully it doesnt get too bad compared to other malls owned by them. Great work North, seemed like a fun road trip too!
The Sears side had Radio Shack, The Hess side had Keyboard World, McCrory's and that was a jewelry store with the blue tiles coming out of that section. There used to be a food court and 2 arcades in there. Fun City was the original one in the mall and Pocket CHange was in the food court when it opened. The arcade that you saw wasn't that years ago. NRM was the sports store on the corner and the Bon Ton was the large space that had the checker tiles in front of it. THere was a Kay Bee's toys at one time. Fashion Bug took over the food court portion if I remember correctly.
@@JohnStockton76 Koenig Sporting Goods took over Keyboard World up on the corner and Keyboard World moved into the Disc Jockey location if I remember right. There was The Appliance Store at one time in that wing too.
This feels like the mall the "Saved by the Bell" Crew would do their shopping at during the weekends. Right next to Max's Diner where they'd hangout and grab a rootbeer float and a banana split afterwards.
Great video North! I have a guess. Is it the Mountaineer Mall in West Virginia? I have enjoyed the live streams for different malls - especially the ones that are Namdar or Kohan. Hoping we can get to either St. Louis again sometime or some other Iowa malls. We need to find you some Cinnabon.
@@NorthCdogg22: St. Louis Galleria has a Cinnabon in it. There is one mall that is rarely ever filmed down there. It's called South County Center. CBL Properties owns it. They never filled the old Sears in it. I know they remodeled it a lot since the 1990s when I was last there.
Hey NortCodge I’m a big fan of you and I’m wondering by if you could one day cover the PlazaAmericas mall in Houston, it’s a mall close to my heart as I’ve gone there since I was a kid, but now I think it’s dying thanks for reading this
First I want to say thank you to NorthcDogg22 for another great video. Before I go any further I want say that my critique of this mall is not in any way a critique of the content creator who always does great work. It’s a critique of those who designed or remodeled this mall. The design of this mall is gaudy, cheesy, and annoying. It’s not just because I hate the pastel look. The flooring has those dull cheap pastel tiles. Just the look of this mall would make me avoid it. This look only works for a seaside surf shop like Ron Jon’s, but you’d also need the interior palm trees and artwork to go with it. Maybe some people like it, but I think it’s hideous. And by the lack of business in this mall I know I’m not the only one. Regardless, great video NorthCdogg22. If you ever get to head out west look into the Tucson mall. I promise the review I give on that mall will be very positive.
I love that this mall has been painted with the "trans pride" colour palette. Always an excellent choice :) Thanks for the consistently wonderful videos!!
Hey man any plans for FL if so, my kid has a lot of malls in store and here are two mall riddles from my kid, I am a strip mall, the first mall ever built, I am 3 story, but i'm abandoned. the second riddle, I am also a strip mall, the brother or sister mall, I am 4 or 3 story to, but I was abandoned a year later. Guess the two riddle and if you guess correctly, I will say "Great Job⭐" but if you get it wrong, allow me to correct you. Also please comment okay, alright my kid I love your so much. See you in FL.
I find the colors boring and too neutral. Its a real shame they removed most character from most malls in the late 90's. All the things that made them stand out gone. I do feel retail shopping at all malls are on their way out. Brick and morter stores cant compete with the internet with price and selection. Technology always flows in the way of convience. Movie theaters are on the same decline.
That mall was very nice for many years, but part of the reason for it never reaching its potential was poor planning. "Restaurant Row" in front of the mall contained a large number of chain restaurants, each with its own entrance on busy Route 40; it would have made more sense to have all traffic go to the light and have access roads BEHIND the restaurants. There were so many accidents and near accidents which could have been avoided. The mall owners kept raising rents to the point many stores couldn't be profitable. Also there is CLEARLY NO PLANNING in Oniontown. There are random stand alone plazas scattered around, no organization. Look at Walmart --next to it is a medical clinic, a Honda dealership, Dick Sportswares and Hobby Lobby. in front is a strip of shops. Another plaza has Target and some small shops; across the road is Home Depot, Michaels and some small businesses. My point is that NOTHING is convenient--no planning, no organization. In other places there are large plazas where customers can visit multiple stores at ONE stop. In Oniontown you must drive from place to do errands. Aldi wanted to relocate to a larger store. Instead of working with the county and mall owners, they could have put their store in the former Sears or The Bon Ton space--the infrastructure was already in place and Aldi could have helped revitalize the mall. Or the mall could have been 'de-malled" like Middletown Commons in Fairmont. It's like Oniontown really doesn't get it. It's easier to drive up to University Town Centre in Morgantown where everything is CONVENIENT.

It's always a surprise when an indoor mall starts its decline in the 90's. Those were peak mall popularity times.

Most of the properties u speak of were owned by private individuals who slowly sold off property for profit. Why everything is chopped up.
