Rory was a giant who never sought fame or fortune. He didn't play big arenas. If you listen to this epic track you will understand that he was a huge talent. Bigger than so many of his peers.
+Ben McConaghy He playd big arenas. I saw him in 1970 es in Karlsruhe/ Germany with Bands like Chicago and Tina Turner by open air in Wildpark-Stadium with nearly 20000 Visitors!!!!
I agree 100% Ben, and to you my friend Mr. Geißler, yes, he did play big arenas, but he HATED doing so. He always said he preferred the intimate surroundings and atmosphere of a smaller gig. It was only after he did a leg of stadium gigs in the late 70s that he made up his mind, once and for all, that this WASN'T what he aspired to do as a musician.. He just wanted to play his heart out in smaller venues, to crowds that adored him and fully appreciated his music, rather than trying to fill stadia for monetary gain... Respect from Davey
+David Hughes I think your right. I saw Rory nearly 20 times. Only two startet in big arenas. His last visit in Germany was in 1994 in Stuttgart, Reitstadion. The last was one of the best I ever saw. a lot of very young visitors, they didn`t want to end to call him back on stage. At that time he looked very ill but we didn`t now what was happened !
Rüdiger Geißler Wow, that's great.. You saw a lot of great gigs so.. I'd say they were an amazing experience.. I think he's a lot better in smaller venues, he played with more confidence and intensity in these settings.. It seemed he was a lot more comfortable.. But, as you know, he was ALWAYS great, no matter where he played! Respect to you my friend Mr. Geissler :) From Irish Davey
Rory was an amazing guitar player and a very honest man. He loved the blues and the rock. I remember one time that came to Spain and as answer to a pariodist that ask him about the blues and Rory said...Ohhh... I am too old to leave for playing the blues!... It was on the summer of 1985 or 1986 in Madrid... This is the real man: simple, good, honest and a very , very incredible guitarist . Sadly at this times not much people remember him..But for me he and his bands are one of the greatest of the history of blues-rock of all the times. Thanks Rory for all the hours of good music..
When I started playing guitar, I asked myself what sound I wanted...then I heard Rory and I got my answer. All the comments to this video only reinforce that I did the right thing...thanks for this video!
RIP-Rory The Lord called you home too soon. One of THEE greatest, and underrated Guitarists of all time. So many kids today don't even recognize the name. Just another Brilliant performance by Rory Gallagher, I feel so proud to have seen him live quite a few times, with Taste then as a Solo artist, and he never failed to put 100% into every show, and this is a typical performance from him...What a Guitarist, who left us FAR to soon....R.I.P.... Rory...and Thank you the Music........
This is such a unique song, at least to me. The riff reminds me of hard rock, even light metal....but it's Rory Gallagher. So much soul and authenticity, and his band is incredible, too. Love it!
Lucky enough to have seen Rory Gallagher live in 1972. Truly one of the best and "must see" guitar players in the late 60's early 70's. From all the bands I saw I liked Jimi Hendrix the best -- followed by in no particular order, Duane Allman, Alvin Lee of Ten Years After, Rory Gallagher, Carlos Santana, Albert King, and Leslie West of Mountain. There were many many MANY others but those guys in particular will never be forgotten.
@@davidvallone1476 Gary Moore is my fave musician of all time, wish I'd have got to see the other two, still miss going to see Gary in concert, it's not that I knew him personally, it's just his music was a massive part of my life for so many years, so when he went so did that part of me too. Just great that the music they all leave behind can be still loved and discovered today, the concerts and memories stay with us too. These guys though were just on another level, the whole band is here with Rory. Love peace and unity in music. 😎🎧🎶🙌

His bass player never gets enough love or credit!!!!!!!!!
I am 60 now, i got all his stuff on LP, grrat lad with his strato
I saw Rory 2 times in Boston. He was the best showman and guitar player, may he rest in peace.
Just three musicians and their instruments and history was written by the musical genius of Rory...
My favourite Rory performance if there could be one.
Seems he's still here
This is timeless ,cool, modern, awesome.
moonchild is fantastic too :)
He always said he
preferred the intimate surroundings and atmosphere of a smaller gig. It
was only after he did a leg of stadium gigs in the late 70s that he made
up his mind, once and for all, that this WASN'T what he aspired to do
as a musician.. He just wanted to play his heart out in smaller venues,
to crowds that adored him and fully appreciated his music, rather than
trying to fill stadia for monetary gain...
Rüdiger Geißler
Wow, that's great..
+David Hughes ALWAYS GREAT !!!
I love watching the Irish Hurrican Play.....RORY ON!!!!
Rory Gallagher was a true Blues Rock legend . I used to buy his albums back in the day, but was never lucky enough to see him live.
Live he was fantastic.. I was 19 years old and I was there :)) Cheers!! Zep.
RIP-Rory The Lord called you home too soon. One of THEE greatest, and underrated Guitarists of all time. So many kids today don't even recognize the name. I'll never forget the night I saw Rory Gallagher in '78 at a small club in SF. I may have been too young to appreciate what I was witnessing, but now, OH God I'm glad that I was there...
+randy109 I saw him more than 30 times all around Germany Austria and Swizerland. To remember is very simple: I told my children about him, and now they are 30 , 26, and 19 Years old and they are fans of rory!!
I to was at that show at the Old Waldorf I think it was on Battery st. and it was smoking!!!
My guitar hero right to this day
Speechless I saw Rory his concert in 1974 in Amsterdam Concertbuilding this number is the most fantastic music and song he ever have make.
No one touches Rory’s talent or stage presence
Hands down, one of the best!! Love & miss him very much!! 😘🍀😘🍀
Prince anyone?
I LOVE rory but he doesnt come even close to stevie ray Vaughn..
Fantastic Musician Simply Criminally Underrated 🔥🎤🎸🔥🎸🎤🎸🔥🎤🎸🔥🎤🎸🔥💪👊🤘😎
3 musicians 40 years back sounds way better than any today band. Rorry doesn't care for money and success he was different breed
Legendary. The Drumming on this is sensational as well.
Best version ever!!!
Rory is, and will always be the G-Man. Ecellent. !!!!!!!!!!
Gallagher,Vaughn, and Moore had such a tone and ferocity to their playing:-)
Hard to beat that list of greatness. certainly legends!!
👌
@@davidvallone1476 Gary Moore is my fave musician of all time, wish I'd have got to see the other two, still miss going to see Gary in concert, it's not that I knew him personally, it's just his music was a massive part of my life for so many years, so when he went so did that part of me too.
Just great that the music they all leave behind can be still loved and discovered today, the concerts and memories stay with us too.
These guys though were just on another level, the whole band is here with Rory.
Love peace and unity in music.
😎🎧🎶🙌
I was 4 months old when Rory preformed this song, now I'm 30 years old, and my love for Rory Gallagher's craftsmanship will keep growing older and older. Long Live Rory Gallagher
Flanger and Octaver high etc, all right for me. He is so wonderful!
Rory will be rocking for ever and ever. Many many thanks from Greece.

guy in front raw having the time of his life i wish i was there rip rory :)
Ive known of Rory for about 2 years now and dont think a day has gone by since then that I have not listened to him and evertime I am in disbelief that it took so long for me to hear of such a great. As a bass player in very glad I discovered McAvoy at the same time. both are simply amazing at their craft and complemented each other so perfectly.
Katherine Scott Then move on to Free and get stoned by Andy Fraser and Paul Kossoff
Just wonderfull - the magic of film and video - Rory was special . Simple honest and truthfull to his music .
I first heard about Rory while I was in the Army in Germany. They used to play his music at the local GI clubs. He was unheard of in the States at that time. I was saddened to learn of his death years later.
Best Version of Bad Penny. RIPRORY
THE BEST BAD PENNY EVER
After all these years, first time I heard Rory use an effect ! Works well too.
Dude was amazing. Should have gotten more appreciation.
Rory..RIP. We are so many that miss you very much. This song is one of the best.
+Fire Zoul its the best!
Excellent guitariste, peut-être le meilleur ayant existé. Rien à voir avec la musique qu'on nous sort aujourd'hui. C'était mieux avant, il y avait des talents.
All the best musicians are irish!🇮🇪🇮🇪 Grew up in the same town as Rory! RIP
While Rory is a genius, Gerry on bass is a Beast.
