    I just got one of the metal ones. True enough, it doesn't 'grip' the bridge like my old rubber one; it rather just 'sits' on it. So you do have to be careful not to bump it with your bow or let it fall off (cause it CAN fall off). But man! I would say it decreases the volume by over half. Very useful as I live in an apartment and I've also been known to play until ten or so.

      do you think could be the best option for recently starter? You know in the beginning sound like torture in advance level. Is it enough (will use viola)

    I agree 0:42. I've found that this rubber mute can even make the cheapest of steel strings sound "warm and mellow."

    I wanted to get a e-violin first, only because I thought it would be entirely silent and I life in a big house with really thin walls and can't play violin at all. Then I learned it isn't 100% silent anyway, but there are damperes out there. So I ordered an acustic violin with a damper now :) I'm looking forward to getting it so much. I already got a Digitalpiano, because of my housing instead of an acustic one and it just doesn't feel the same. I'm so happy I don't need to get a electric violin, too. 😀

    thanks, Loved hearing the comparisons. Because the degree of muting depends mostly on the weight of the mute, it would be super useful if you weighed them and told us how much each weighed.

    I kept skipping back and forth between the part where your playing with the Artino vs. the Metal and they sound pretty near identical to me. Would you say that's accurate sir, is it just the recording, or is my ear bad, lol?

    Practicing excessively with the mute deteriorates technique, because it muffles your mistakes and makes you less aware natural tone. Is this true?

Also I wanted to know something about metal mutes, but the cons of metal ones scared me.... So Imma stick to my rubber mute only..... The smell will go away on its own😀😂

      MultiFabulous14 they don’t work for all sizes of violas?

    • @MultiFabulous14
      @MultiFabulous14 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, upon looking at the testimonies for the Artino (the 2nd mute in the video) some people said it worked amazing for their viola and others said it didn’t fit! The bridges are made bigger for the larger size of instrument. I’m not sure how much different the size of the metal mute is from the Artino, but they look really similar

    • @MultiFabulous14
      @MultiFabulous14 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since the viola is a larger instrument then the violin, the bridges are bigger-but also thicker-which is why the mutes sometimes don’t fit. The larger your viola, the less likely it will fit on your bridge
