Who is going to pay for the upgrade to the national and local grids to cope with charging 30+ million cars, 2+ million vans, and 500k HGVs even if only half charge over night? The fact that they can’t get the parts, therefore you will be without your vehicle for the foreseeable future is supposed to leverage you into continuing to drive it until they get the parts. And if you crash the vehicle as a result of said part’s failure, that will be on you; personally, actually, because your insurance will be voided. And you will be personally liable for any third party damage or injury.
Great to meet you at Porsche Leeds last week Lee. I think I must have been lucky with my brakes recall as mine went in the day after the recall was announced and they had the parts in stock, my car just happened to be in for service that day. I would say the brakes seemed to feel a bit better after the recall was done, but could just be mind tricks. And if it’s the technician I’m thinking of at Porsche Leeds he’s absolutely brilliant, he sorted out my seat too. They are great down there.
They don't check oil on an MOT. They will check the same as any other car, suspension, brakes, lights, steering, body rot and emissions. OK that last one will be different.
That's where it comes from anyway, but it has to have a Poor-shh badge on it to comply. A replacement hose would probably have the same problem, unless it was a batch fault.
You'd think, with an electric motor drastically reducing maintenance issues ( less moving parts ), the rest of the car would be top dollar parts, but they never fail to fk up still.
The beauty of an ICE vehicle that is 10+ years old is you can get in it and just drive instantly. No charging, no stupid sensors, no setting buried away in screens etc. Open the door, turn the key and go.
🤔 An easy way of removing vehicles parked on your property. Jack up each of the wheels, place go-jacks under the wheels and push said car to your desired location. Preferably next to scrap yard. 😏
Just because they haven't got the parts doesn't make the car safe. They have told you about the danger just to cover themselves legally. Now with no parts available to make it safe again they are telling you how much you matter as a customer...
If Porsche are made aware of an issue such as yours may have and dont inform you.. Your brakes fail and you crash, they will be liable as they knew about the defect. . If they make you aware (as they have) and you still choose to drive and then crash then they wont be liable. . Thats why they have "recalled" them without being able to fix it.
The only difference between an ICE and EV MOT would be the emissions tests. They do not "check" your engine on an MOT, they will give you an advisory for an oil leak that's about it. The MOT is for the safety things, lights/tyres/breaks/suspension joints etc so all the same stuff on both cars.
Not true about the oil. My car failed with a major on an oil leak so they can fail it. It's like an amount of fluid that leaks in a certain time or something like that 👍🏻
@@Richard_Barnes Fair, I didn't mean they couldn't fail it just its a visual check likely a 1min check with a light. I'm guessing yours was bad to fail though!

The MOT on a milk float is the same as a combustion engined car. Checking oil is not part of an MOT. The only thing that a milk float isn't tested on is the exhaust emmissions. Everything else is exactly the same.
Electric car MOT testing, there's still a lot to test on an EV so brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, wheels, lights, indicators, body condition and structure (for corrosion), windscreen, wipers, mirrors, doors and locks, seat belts and restraints, horn, etc. While EVs obviously don't have an engine and exhaust to check for emissions and oil/fuel leaks, they do require other things to be chacked instead such as high voltage system integrity (no exposed components/intact insulation), battery pack condition (damage/leaks), charging port (good condition and secure) as well as any Acoustic Alerting Systems (for pedestrian safety). 🤓 I do feel for you with the brake hose recall issue. I had similar with my car that had a recall for the driver's airbag, the fault being that it may incorrectly trigger with excessive force causing injury, yet until they could get the parts they said "Oh it'll be fine"!
I had an ICE Porsche in the past. Make a tyre for an EV tyre that can be repaired like an ICE tyre Make an EV with a range of an ICE that can do 500+ range. Make charging from anything to full in 5 or 6 minutes like an ICE car to fill the tank. And only then, if I could afford an EV, I would get one. Where I live is on street parking only. Local Tesco, less than 5 mins away and it's full of fuel. I can go from south Wales to Carlisle on a tank, the only stops are for a pee. So no expensive motorway fuel prices or charging for me. The labour government under Blair and Brown were harping on about how good diesels were. Remember that? Tories doing the same with electric. I'm sorry but give me an ICE car any time. I'm not going to swallow any government's BS any time soon. If you have at least one brain cell, neither should you..........
I had an urgent recall with my Clio hybrid to do with the gearbox temperatures. I’ve had the software update, but there’s a bug in the system and it’s caused problems with the dashboard. We have to wait for Renault to make another update.

This electric thing must be coming to an end. We got electric scooter, electric cars, electric bikes, ekectric buses it's too much. Look what happened when we electrified chairs? Ted Bundy wasn't impressed,
If there was a hole in your brake hose you would know pretty quick as there’d be a loss in brake fluid and pressure. Oil isn’t checked on the MOT of an ICE car.
They could probably rob the brake pipes they need off one of the mountain of unsold EVs. After all its unlikely they are going to find many buyers for them
What is so special with about brake hoses on a Taycan. Brake hoses on all cars are made of the same material all they need is brake hose and clips problem solved.
It is like the Honda Airbag recall. Warning that pieces of metal will come at you when deployed. I had to wait 6 months to get the recall notice resolved.
I also experienced that recall. The airbag supplier just could not produce enough airbags in time because it also affected 100s of thousands of vehicles over multiple manufacturers, not just Honda, over the course of many years.
The mot Test will be much the same as for any other car i.e. brakes steering lights, suspension, tyres in fact everything minus exhaust emissions. As for the car on your wife's drive, if it is not stolen and no police interest in it then it is a civil matter. You are quite within your right to remove the vehicle from your drive but you must not leave it in a way that it is committing an offence, i.e. obstruction, for which you would be liable.
Definitely agree with the green! Bronze or black wheels! You will likely find the brake hoses suit 20 different vehicles which is more likely the reason for the shortage. It’s still stupid of them. Your mate is right about recall… it’s not an EV thing… in fact, at least with an EV you can use regen, unless it’s fully charged LOL
Precisely, its driven by a fault being identified as something that could lead to failure and consequently potentially death to the occupants (fire / no brakes / no steering etc etc) Therefore the manufacturer needs to rectify it asap and ultimately sort the cars or provide replacements whilst sorting (I had this experience with a bmw 330d I owned and the egr cooler needed recalling….amongst the long term hire cars they gave me they also sorted me an m3 competition for a weekend for the inconvenience, hats off to BMW harrogate, I almost feel bad that I don’t go back for servicing etc )
Also an MOT isn't meant to make sure your car is in good working order (they're not going to check if your battery is in good health). It's just to test the vehicle is road worthy and not a danger to yourself and others using the road (e.g. they'll test the horn works, the window wipers work, the lights work, etc).
I keep telling you, Lee, after the lease agreement expires, get the best 911 turbo or whatever you can afford. Then keep it. The value will go up over time.

It doesn't matter how an EV is styled (If there is such a thing???) because there's nothing more that turns me off than knowing it's powered by a pile of batteries.
Remember when Porsche made brake parts that didn't fail, and didn't require multiple expensive computers in their cars to tell you if you were low on brake fluid or had any other issues? Pepperidge Farms remembers... ...so do owners of cars that were made simpler, more reliable, and much, much cheaper to repair when they did have issues...
If you look at the offside or drivers side wheel in the video about 31:00 you can see a noticeable bar running across the tire tread this is the wear marker once your tire tread comes level to this bar your tire is worn out. these wear markers are situated evenly around the tread so you dont have to look the whole tire over to find one but it is good to check the whole tire once in a while for damage as well as wear.
No to measure emissions you take your electricity bill or charging receipts/bank statements and they calculate your emissions that way 😅😅😅
22:59 perfect example of modern cars being over complicated for no reason.
Can,t believe they can,t outsource the brake pipes out to more manufacturers and get it done asap.
That's where it comes from anyway, but it has to have a Poor-shh badge on it to comply.
A replacement hose would probably have the same problem, unless it was a batch fault.
Checking ur oil on an MOT😊
You can tell lee aint mechanically minded.
How can a new car have that problem 🤔
🤔
An easy way of removing vehicles parked on your property.
That car blocking your charger driveway looks like a Volvo estate 🤔 do you know anyone who drives one? 🤔
@@Sean-tn5nv yeh I see what you mean now 👍🏻 I wasn't impressed with the cost of my repair. Hey ho, we love it really 😆
Am mot is a minimum standard on the day of testing . The brakes will corrode due to lack of use .
they don't check "breaks" on a test, that is what they have after finishing one. They check "brakes" and every aspect of the system, be they hydraulic or air.
volvo 850 is from geoff buys cars......he said that he has present for you
Just what I was thinking got to be Geoff !
Shusy Shusy ! Haha
So today I saw the man who’s done more holiday reviews than Judith chalmers , the man who’s had more fish and chips than captain birdseye 😁 but more importantly the man who talked me out of buying an EV 👍🏼🍺 , I’ve been a long time subscriber and saw Lee at the traffic lights today coming from EMA to the M1 , thanks for returning the thumbs up mate 👍🏼 I’m the bloke driving the castle rock brewery van 😁
Urgent, means that the lawyers are trying to absolve themselves of legal liability!! IE do not drive until the brake hoses are replaced!! Drive at your own risk¡!!!
No hesitation with that money trap - get the warranty. 'A car for Miss Piggy' 😅 great video 👍
My MG M5 EV had its 1st MOT just last week, no problems at all. Its the best car I've ever had!
I have a Citroen C5 hdi 2011 361,000km and I've had no problems at all, come back and report if your ev gets to that figure, then you can say it's the best car you have ever owned not at 3 years old and barely any mileage on it.
@@brendanc5519 Impressive, but I'll never go back to fossil fuel.
@@davidlatham4499 good for you it's all about choice. Drive safe.
What are they going to check? Everything they do on every MOT except emissions
The MOT on a milk float is the same as a combustion engined car. Checking oil is not part of an MOT. The only thing that a milk float isn't tested on is the exhaust emmissions. Everything else is exactly the same.
Your correct other than we do check the oil before we test the emmissions.
@@maljfoth1i have never seen oil checked at an mot test
@@curtisj2165 "seen"?
@@stpfs9281 yes seen, I always watch my cars being tested
Absolutely 100% a Volvo 850! it’s Geoff it’s got to be a wind up 😂
Porsche are cars for the people who have to much cash to burn. My Honda Civic is 3 years old now and all I ever pay is $35 a year for oil change.
I had an ICE Porsche in the past.
Make a tyre for an EV tyre that can be repaired like an ICE tyre
Make an EV with a range of an ICE that can do 500+ range.
Sensor for opening charging flap 🙄 Whatever could go wrong with that !!!
I had an urgent recall with my Clio hybrid to do with the gearbox temperatures. I’ve had the software update, but there’s a bug in the system and it’s caused problems with the dashboard. We have to wait for Renault to make another update.
I can't believe that a modern car has a gearbox that can over heat .I have never heard any car from years ago that could have a gearbox that over heats .even my 1975 xj6, automatic has never had an over heating gearbox .all motorists are being rip off with computerised cars .👎👎👎👎😬😬
This electric thing must be coming to an end. We got electric scooter, electric cars, electric bikes, ekectric buses it's too much. Look what happened when we electrified chairs? Ted Bundy wasn't impressed,
😂😂😂
Look at the states and with all the massive floods they're having, water is getting to the batteries of EVs and burning down homes!
Mac, the next time you go to the stealaship you need to say "Hello I'd like a 911 turbo please " or ask Geoff for an old Volvo, a proper car.
"I think you might find" that it is unwise to drive a vehicle with an unremedied recall defect. Insurance may have something to say.
Think I’ll stick with my Toyota Land Cruiser commercial and the ‘46 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe, waiting for the synthetic petrol to be readily available.
Cool
That new Macan looks totally anonymous like most of the SUV's nowadays.
As Geoff said it looks like pretty much every SUV on the market. The Porsche SUV's are pretty much VW SUV's made to go faster and be sportier.
Have a search for custom brake hoses, make some up and sell them to Porsche.
If the Porche Macan is all electric why does it say turbo?.
The only electric car I would buy is a scale electric.
If there was a hole in your brake hose you would know pretty quick as there’d be a loss in brake fluid and pressure.
Oil isn’t checked on the MOT of an ICE car.
That Macan is yet another brick on wheels that could be anything.
what was the bad news ?
My Taycan is awaiting the recall parts and no ETA as yet, it’s shocking service
Chop it in and get a Cayman 4.0 GTS manual, with no options. Ultimate daily driver, what a car.
They could probably rob the brake pipes they need off one of the mountain of unsold EVs. After all its unlikely they are going to find many buyers for them
What is so special with about brake hoses on a Taycan. Brake hoses on all cars are made of the same material all they need is brake hose and clips problem solved.
Probably had to make them out of hemp to make the car meet it's ecological recyclabity targets.
Just ask Geoff
😂😂😂 5:39
Definitely agree with the green! Bronze or black wheels!
You will likely find the brake hoses suit 20 different vehicles which is more likely the reason for the shortage. It’s still stupid of them.
Your mate is right about recall… it’s not an EV thing… in fact, at least with an EV you can use regen, unless it’s fully charged LOL
The fact that Porsche is unable to respond urgently does not affect the urgency of the recall. Surely you must see that?
Precisely, its driven by a fault being identified as something that could lead to failure and consequently potentially death to the occupants (fire / no brakes / no steering etc etc)
Therefore the manufacturer needs to rectify it asap and ultimately sort the cars or provide replacements whilst sorting (I had this experience with a bmw 330d I owned and the egr cooler needed recalling….amongst the long term hire cars they gave me they also sorted me an m3 competition for a weekend for the inconvenience, hats off to BMW harrogate, I almost feel bad that I don’t go back for servicing etc )
120 grand for a car and you don't have spare brake parts to fix your design failure? "Shame on you Porsche, shame on you."
Wont be long before replacement brake pads and or tyres cost more than the car is worth.
FYI!! Contract the dvla and apply for a V888 form to find out the details of any driver.
Why is an all electric car badged as a turbo with turbo logos on the seats?
It has an imaginary turbocharger 😂
Also an MOT isn't meant to make sure your car is in good working order (they're not going to check if your battery is in good health). It's just to test the vehicle is road worthy and not a danger to yourself and others using the road (e.g. they'll test the horn works, the window wipers work, the lights work, etc).
I keep telling you, Lee, after the lease agreement expires, get the best 911 turbo or whatever you can afford. Then keep it. The value will go up over time.
@peterjeffries75 You might be getting the Turbo mixed up with a limited production run model there old chap, like the GT3 RS, GT2, 911R, etc.
should you ask Geaff about the Volvo on your drive
Geoff has taken pity on you and got a real car for you to use!
Hi Lee I have never driven, family never driven etc.
But as always a very interesting and informative video.
Cheers mate.
Take care
Jonathan
car in the drive and it looks like a volvo, only one name springs to mind
Thanks Lee, a interesting story on the brake hose Recall, also the MOT tour of your Porscher Taycan, as he said it's in good health 👌 👍 Au
I have not looked at this channel in months, clicked on it today and it’s like I never left. Same old crying about EV if it’s that bad get rid of it.
Had a thought when your mechanic mentioned jacking points… as these things trickle down into the used car market, I wonder how long before someone pokes a trolly jack into the battery tray😱
Love the Asda t shirt, I have the same one😂
I received a brown envelope from DVLA yesterday Lee, starting April 1st 2025 we have to pay Road Tax on our Electric Vehicles 🤬😞 They said I’ll receive another letter letting me know how much to pay in due course 🤷♀️
I'm glad I'll be dead before this EV codswallop becomes compulsory.
Well we just changed our 3 year old Outlander hybrid for a Cupra Ateca, one made in Japan, one in Catalonia, both very nice cars by the way. All the buttons and knobs are identical. Because cars are now assembled, not made. Yours will be the same, Porsche don't make brake pipes.
£450 for one tyre ARE they taking the piss! No way would I buy one of these money pits.
I failed an MOT today and was advised to go to my local well known tyre company in Liverpool. £35 for a decent part worn - straight back to MOT centre for a pass. £45 for the MOT. I wish we could have them bi-annually like in Germany.
@@Drew-Dastardly Nice! part worn with no history, well worth the chance. Perhaps there are no part worns for a 120k Porsche sports car available at the moment or someone who drives that sort of car would not even consider them. Point is I have no idea what your post is about or how it relates to the video
How much are the tyres on your 911?
@@Drew-Dastardlyhow tight are you? Buy a new tyre ffs
If the mot was bi annual that means you’d be happy driving around with a dodgy tyre for another 12 months before you replaced it!
@Drew-Dastardly the state people have there cars here in 12 months people would die on 24 month MOTs keep it as it is
If they estimate there is 3000 miles left on tires you will get an advisory, they can't fail it if the treads are still in limits over 1.6 mm on 3/4 area of tread surface.
Gaz Yorkshire.
MISTER MACMASTER! get as much warranty as ya can on the milk float😂🎉
Great video.
Just one correction, the MOT test doesn't check 'oil' mate.
The engine only tests for emissions, that is all, and any major oil leaks.
Engine is not part of a MOT only the emissions the engine emits
And oil leaks from engine!
Your car has been discontinued, sorry you need to dispose of it.
Geoff doesn't buy electric cars.
Hope this helps those that don't know.
If they find holes in your brake hose then you’ve been driving with no brakes!😂
