I saw this as a kid and now, 60 years later, it’s great to see it again. Wonderfully melodramatic script and excellent acting for that style.
i enjoyed the movie very much! so much better than expected. the actors, the camera work, the dialoges are really good, not a 0815 b movie, no horror, but a human drama. thank you, ccc!

This was a very moving and involving psychological drama. It's black and white Los Angeles scenes brought to mind DOA while the nightmarish carnival sequences were reminiscent of The Twilight Zone. I give it 10 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

The cabbie was blinded in the accident, which was why he was unable to recognize Vernon as his son's killer. Vernon's unintentional but violent assault of the boy was, for me, the film's most wrenching moment, followed by his equally unintended but brutal killing of his fickle socialite girlfriend.

a remake of the original austrian expressionist movie "Orlacs Hände"...from 1924
Thank you for that information. Most of the movie followed a Film Noir style, but the nightmarish carnival scene was definitely Expressionistic.
