    You ought to look at Rado through a different set of lense. Not just your taste for run-of-the-mill dive watches. The Rado’s that you pointed out (Cornell and golden horse) are appealing to the mass market looking for a vintage reissues and standard divers etc. But there’s another market out there, ie, what I dub as ‘art’ watches, which is what Rado is good at doing. Rado appoints fashion and furniture designers to create watches for them, predominantly ceramic watches. So these watches are a blend of design and ceramic material. I see these as ‘art’ pieces , more for my viewing pleasure and appreciation for the ceramic material and unique designs. Rado has perfected ceramic in watch making for over three decades. It’s easy for you to rubbish these watches without knowing much about the craftsmanship that goes into making ceramic watches. I suggest you do some research into ceramic watchmaking. It’s extremely difficult to work with ceramic and working with all these different colours is even more technically challenging . Rado has definitely earned my respect and appreciation.

      I agree. I think there are cool. I like collections that add some different pieces like this.

      I also think T3 is wrong on Rado. Really cool watches and refreshing to be out of the classic and boring "surf and turf" narrative which dominates (diver / flieger /field)... Rado is casual dress watches made in high tech ceramic... opposite of golden dress watches of our parent generation... I feel more modern and future oriented when sporting a Rado.... and also their CCock every day better then the clone army of divers

      I think you've hit the nail on the head there with Rado. Casual dress watches in high tech ceramic. Something modern about them that's about today, without totally looking back to the past.@@milosradivojevic5887

      Absolutely agree! I just got my gf the true square Tej. Very special design, functional, beautiful, high quality, yet almost impossible to come by. Those hidden gems is what makes this brand so special.

    Speaking as a Pakistani... Rado is in the Indo-Pak region what Rolex is in the rest of the world. Although there are Rolex dealers in Pakistan, the Rado name is still quite strong, even more so than Tissot and Hamilton. And just like Rolex, even if they dont innovate too much, they still sell like hotcakes. They're an aspiration brand.
    I personally agree that they're wayy overpriced and you can get so much better value for the money. But I guess when you buy a Rado, you don't pay for its specs... you pay for its style.

    • @theopulentlife889
      @theopulentlife889 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also because affording a Rolex in pakistan is next to impossible for 99% of people due to availability and the devaluation of the currency

    • @pooolish334
      @pooolish334 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm sorry, but saying a Rado is overpriced while an old Rolex sells for way more than its original msrp is very dumb (not trying to unsult you, it's the idea of it). Most watches in the watch world are way overpriced and full ceramic watches from other brands sell for way more than 10k. While rado has full ceramic watches for less than 2k with a bunch of other materials and designs.

    Im a Rado fanboy. I have two of the new reissue Golden Horse and four vintage Golden Horse. Not to mention a few of the lesser known vintage pieces (Trident, Conway and Blue Castle) and a Captain Cook. I just love how they are styled and how they wear. And the vintage ones are very accessible price wise for collecting purposes. I'm not really into the "fashion" pieces, but it seems they don't abandon their more "conventional" customer base in favor of them.
    I wasn't really into Rado until I got my 1st Golden Horse, and once I had that on my wrist, the WOW factor was huge. After that I was a mad dog in a meat shop chasing them.

    Up to the economic boom of the 90's, Rado was a staple of middle and upper middle class expenditure in Puerto Rico. Very well regarded and appreciated. Something that a hard-working professional could feel proud of owning. With the economic downturn and the shrinking of the middle class, their core clientele has been muscled out of the island. There is still plenty of money there. It just so happens that its been controlled by fewer people. Plenty of Rolexes, AP's, Pateks, etc are still sold, but unfortunately, Rado is juuuuuuuuust out of reach for a lot of people there.

    I've got one of the new release blue dial Diastar originals and I love it. Very comfortable and looks great on wrist. I like the new skeleton Diastar, I like the 60th Anniversary model, I think the Golden Horse looks great and so do many of the Captain Cooks (and I'll pick up one eventually). So I like the vintage and reissued stuff as well, which is Rado for me (and I suspect most guys).
    These do nothing for me. The designs look like mega expensive Swatches. However, I don't think I'm the market for these (I'm covered by the vintage stuff). Many women (not all) have different tastes in watches and ones with the money to spend may buy these over cheaper fashion versions. I suspect there is a market and demographic that love them, or Rado wouldn't do them.

    I have a Rado Centrix Opean Heart. It is a unique timepiece that is not for everyone, but I like it. The money could have been spent on a Hamilton or an Oris but then I would have the same style watch every watch collector and “influencer” on social media has.

    I LOVE Rado vintage watches!! Balboas, NCC’s, Manhattan’s - they’re awesome! Apparently I’m not the only one who has a hankering for these. Nice examples when they come up on Chrono24 usually sell pretty quickly.

    I have the rado jubile quartz watch with ceramic bracelet. The ceramic buckle chipped off at the corner so it won't close anymore. I can't even change the straps because it has irregular lugs.

    It's the Poor man's rolex here in india and consequently the gulf countries where a lot of Indian expatriates live and buy Rado. The most popular model is the classic diastar series. One can get 4-5 diastars for the base oyster perpetual 36mm price. Plus the whole more than MSRP/grey market deal thing doesn't go well here (the price can only ever go down or stay same as MSRp in this market before its shunned by the crowd)

    I went to take a look at the Rado watches because Teddy Baldassarre was constantly hocking them on his channel. A lot of the photographs taken of the Captain Cook didn't do it justice. It looks a helluva lot better in real life so to speak. They are very well made but I find them to be kind of common looking. (For some reason). It stays in the OK realm, and it doesn't give me the Ooo, I need one in my collection push. But of course, different strokes for different folks.

    I wanted a diastar several years ago, but the cases just seem off to me - small east to west but thick.
    My 90s era Mido dat-o-day Commander sees binge wearing a few times a year. 39mm but the all face dial makes it seem a lot bigger. Hate the high Polish on it. But love the face, the markers, the hands…

    This is why I really like vintage watches. A vintage man's watch is usually about the right size for me. Current men's watches are usually much too large for me to comfortably wear, and the women's watches are usually uninteresting fashion-looking watches. As with most things made for women (clothes, shoes, etc.), they aren't made to be functional, just pretty (don't get me started).

    Rado wasnt that popular in Italy during the Rado's glorious years in the 60'/70'... The all ceramic lines were really popular in Italy during the 80'/90': unique watches, yes, bold, yes... But too much futuristic/hypermodern uglyness... and after that... no more Rado around. Then the comeback of Capt.Cooks&co was very appreciated in Italy: vintage rules here. But these SUPERUGLY WANNABE NEW MOVADOS? BY JOVE, such a stupid move 🤢🤢🤢
