For my 1 watch "collection" I chose a Rado Captain Cook. It is something I can wear in so many different occasions, Looks familiar as a watch, yet not the same as everyone else.

I enjoy mine as well. Wears smaller than the case diameter and love how thin it is for a diver compared to others in my collection.

So nice to see a video on Rado! They have been doing ceramic designs for such a long time.I just got their 43mm High-Tech Ceramic Captain Cook with the smoked sapphire dial. It's true that nothing feels like ceramic on the skin. Lighter and not as cold on the skin in winter. The inward sloping bezel and the box domed sapphire crystal is such a joy to view. Love it!

Growing up in the middle east, I knew Rado even before I heard of Rolex. One of my uncles had a gold Distar and I remember thinking 'Wow, what a watch'.
Beautiful pieces. Thank you @ TeddyBaldassare for doing this interview. I hope more people in the United states start appreciating this brand.

The dialogue you had with a top dog at the brand, and the kudos you received from him for being prepared for the interview was awesome. Mutual respect, common goals, positive intent, and clear communication about what they are about is what a potential buyer wants to learn. Fantastic. Keep up the great work and I'll keep tuning in.

I received my first RADO for my 17th birthday... I am now 54 and it looks the same as the day I originally wore it. I personally love the ceramic - the materials smoothness against your skin. The ceramic warms to match your body temperature and you can easily forget that you are wearing it, until you glance at the time and the smile that doing so evokes. Cutting edge scratch resistant materials that make a statement. Out of my large collection, I often choose a RADO to wear - flooding me with a lasting feeling of satisfaction...

Rado watches are great. My late grandfather bought Rado watches in his younger days and passed one of them on to me. It's a very special timepiece in my collection. For this current market, Captain cook in green and gold catches my eyes. Stunning

In Pakistan/Kashmir Rado Diastar Gold Tungsten Carbide edition is very famous, if you have a jubilee that’s more rare,
Most Politicians & rich uncle’s have them on,
My dads one was bought in Qatar 🇶🇦 1990,
I inherited Dads watch in 2003 I’ve serviced it twice & changed the strap 3 times,
I also had a few intigrals,
Recently I bought a Sky Dweller Blue face Steel model,
I still wear my fathers Rado more then any other watch I own.

Rado is the most recognized luxury watch brand in India. From history (ex: my dad got a rado for clearing medical school from my grand dad back in 1979) to celebrity endorsements. Given our per capita is smaller than most 1st world countries, rados have been Indias Rolex. Ofcourse times are changing and I haven't included a rado yet in my collection. Maybe if they release a 40mm Captain Cook ;)

Rado is the Rolex of South Asia. I never liked the brand due to their out of the ordinary designs until I was gifted the Original Diastar with a gold dial as a wedding watch. Believe it or not, over the years the brand and their designs have grown on me! I have started appreciated the 60's unique design that has been refined. Glad to see Rado finally getting some recognition in North America. As usual this is part of the Swatch group strategy targetting specific regions. Rado in South Asia, Tissot in North America, Mido in the Pacific, etc.

I was able to recently get a Rado R5.5 chronograph with the blue dial, silver sub dials, ceramic case, titanium bracelet for %50 off at a jewler that had stopped being an AD for Rado. The watch had been in their case for a year and getting for %50 off and brand new was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. I am in love with it. I think the build quality is amazing and the design has already caught peoples eye that ask what watch it is. I am so happy I bought it and saved so much money.

I love Rado but I'd say Fortis instead of Oris. Oris is the next Tag Heuer, the used market paints a dark picture about Oris, they lose so much value it's not enticing to buy, even the most desirable models lose value like Chevy's.

Oddly, was on a cruise this past December and my 18 and 22 year old sons, were more fascinated with the Rado, than any other watch I presented to them, including Vacheron, A.Lange, Panerai, Ball, etc. They said the new generation would probably lean more towards Rado's styling than anything else. That was interesting to me! I like Rado. I didn't before I saw it through their eyes.

Teddy, I want to say thank you for sharing your ideas on your TH-cam channel and through your articles. My knowledge of watches has increased so much since I started following you. On suggestion I have is that I would like to see you do some interviews with the owners of some American microbrand companies, like Detroit Watch Company, Weiss Watch Company, and Vortic Watches like you did with RGM Watches. It seems the last 10 years have been the beginnings of an American watch manufacturing renaissance movement. These brands are definitely underrated, and it would be interesting to see you use your platform to draw attention to these companies and this movement. I can imagine in another 5-10 years, there will be a American movement manufacturer and truly 100% made in America watches.

As a RADO watch fan, I hope they have an actual physical RADO store specially in big cities in the US like here in Los Angeles. My experience in buying for the Original Diastar is quite challenging, you have to search for an AD and hope they have an available watch for you to try. Big retailers like Macy's do have RADO but in very limited models (mostly capt cook). So I bought my Diastar from a small AD and waited 3 weeks to even try it on my wrist and purchase it. I think RADO needs to push their market specially here in the US.

As a Bangladeshi, I thank you my man. Rado is called the poor man's Rolex in my part of the world and is coveted as much as a Rolex. My own wedding watch is a Rado. Actually three Rado's because we have three different celebrations. For my Mehendi night I wore a Hyperchrome, for the reception(wedding day) I wore the Captain Cook and for the last event, Walima (Grooms side of the reception) I wore a Jubilee. I also have a regular open heart for day to day usage. Rado ceramic and Rado in general are better built than most Tag Heuer watches.

Thanks for covering, rado is big brand in middle east and south east asia , the reason was very good marketing in our part of the world and second because many south east asians work as an expats in the middle east , the first swiss watch they wanted to get their hands on was Rado , specially the diastar and jubilee series , it was like a status symbol that the guy is doing a good job in the middle east , also it was given as a wedding present to the groom from the brides side . The golden coloured rados used to solidify the job status. So it was like citizen , seiko and then rado as the ultimate. Before rado sinilar status was enjoyed by West End Watch and Co , you should make a video on that as well.😮

I have two Rados in my collection. Rado Ceramica and Rado True - both ceramic watches absolutely scratch resistant. Stylish as hell

I already have two Rado watches, mechanical and quartz, but after this video, I will certainly buy a third one. I like the material and the quality of material processing as well as the design. I have always been frustrated by scratches on watches and bracelets in the process of wearing. Watches with a ceramic case and a bracelet made of ceramic treated with plasma and sapphire crystal resist scratches and will never upset the owner. I agree with those who say that Rado watches are very popular in Asia and not very popular in Europe and America. I think that with the new Captain Cook series, Rado will gain fans there and here in Canada. Special thanks to Teddy for professional reviews and keeping us up to date with watchmaking news.

Great video like all the others Teddy. I didn't get Rado until I saw it in the metal. It's a beautiful, quality watch and photos or video do not do it justice IMO. I surprised my wife, who only ever wants to wear her Tank, with a blue Captain Cook and she was absolutely thrilled.

I love RADO and thanks Teddy for this video! I have a RADO True Square, classic blue dial and it is simply stunning to wear. Many people have this misconception that RADO uses the same Powermatic movement from Tissot PRX. In fact they use a much upgraded version of the Powermatic, the number of jewels are different and it is a high grade Powermatic with only one pin for adjusting the balance spring and there is no plastic like in the Tissot PRX.

@KL-pe4kn I am not sure of Diastar. However, I am very sure about True Square, since I spoke to a technician who has worked on this model and he confirmed. Sometimes, the finer details are not mentioned, as the base movement is still ETA based for RADOs. In fact, the RADO website is also to blame as they do not provide all the details, unlike a Longiness or even Seiko

I have a Rado Diastar which was given to me a gift for my college graduation 🎓 it's been with me for 20 years without any issues and still working. Will definitely get the Captain Cook and the Florence Classic.

I remember a Rado Ceramica that my landlord wore when I lived in North Africa. It made a huge impression on me. Their marketing is very focused on higher income people in the developing world it seems, and tennis of course (in many ways the latter feeds the former). Not so sure why they don’t market more in the US and other western countries, they’re different enough from the other Swatch Group brands to do so.

Finally added a Diastar Original (R12408613) to my collection. Have liked this for years but the automatic versions were too expensive. Happened on this one with MSRP of $850 and got a good discount from that. Immediately put it on a nice Milanese bracelet for quick sizing to my small wrist . So happy they still make the 1962 patterns with same materials. Interesting interview with the one in charge of RADO .
