Of course is not an exact cover, it´s a version/tribute of the original song, and what a great version. Hannes is just too awesome and I´m sure Richard would be happy to see this.
Even for pro musicians it's not easy to fill in the shoes of other pro musicians. After all, this is a cover and he nearly played it to perfection. If you had listened this from another angle with a better recording which reflects the overall acoustics of the drums, you'd say the other way. It's always a bit odd to listen to "dry" drum sound. There is nearly nothing wrong with this "cover". It provides with the overall essence of the song.
He did an awesome job. He played the song with respect and you can see he learned it the best he could; he makes ZERO mistakes, gets the groove just fine, it flows well. It was a carbon copy of the album's performance? nope, but not even Richard played the songs 100% like the album either - I mean, I saw him live and he played these tracks WAY faster and with LOTS of details, some even new to the songs, but not EXACTLY like the albums, so there you go.
@@MichaelHolmgaard But Gene have his own style. Christy is maybe little faster (with hands), and little better in tehnical meaning. I prefer Gene because it’s not all in technique and speed. Sean is realistically the best. It has speed, style and technique, but I personally like Gene’s style.
not great cover so sorry.. you realy need to listen song again and again.. joining to DTA is not meaning you're doing perfect. and also i can't feel groove on you..play with fire man..
So many haters.... Hannes owns you all.

This is awesome, and not just well played but he does it in Sean Reinert's kit configuration. Grossman is a real beast.
He did the odd time beats well
hannes in the sean's kit, awesome
I've been playing the drums for many years but i guess that i will never understand that jazzy part!
Wow these comments are laughable. Had to be kids/non-musicians.

Don't be so negative he held the beat that's the job. Yes it's not exactly Richard Christy but who is. He was close enough. I give him a 8 out of 10
indeed !! i totally agree with you

Great drummer but no one can play it better than Richard
no doubt about it man. Christy rules supreme
"Spirit Crusher" without Richard Christy on drums is like football without a ball: It just doesn't work
Christy also did not authentically done Sean’s drum works. So what ?? Sean, Gene and Christy are all the great and unique drummers.
@@TheDispather All respect for Gene Hoglan, but Richard Christy outplayed him on every song. Faster, more technical, better sound... everything

this is so far from richard! we know hannes, im sure he have no time to practise spirit crusher
Don't forget that he is playing on Sean's kit. Not the same body nor installation. It made the difference.
Sorry, but that sucked.
Goes to show how awesome Christys Drumming is when even a guy like Grossmann can't really do it justice. Just imagine having to play Scavenger haha
How did he not do it justice

wtf? "you realy need to listen song again and again" hahahaha that was a really good one. Do you know who is Hannes Grossmann?
Luis Fernando Duque hannes is so fucking great but is no great cover !!! Hannes is a master but richard is the law in his style
Dude, you know Hannes is better than any of the original Death drummers, don't you?
Hélder Tiago Not true, mate!
