- Here's Sean Reinert's last playing drums "Veil of Maya" with Cynic. (Drum cam only.)
We are the huge fan of Cynic since early 90's, so we asked if we could film their live performance in Japan on that day and it was realized. Our mission was un"veil" their unbelievable technique. Then we put more than 10 cameras on the stage. The performance was more than we imagined. He was kind and warm and passionated man. We really miss him. His monumental works will live forever.

I knew Sean personally, since he was 15. He was already good at that age, but honestly, he eventually became one of the greatest of all time.

Easily one of the greatest. There is no debate about that. Sean had the chops, the technique, the groove, the feel and the instincts few drummers had before him. Criminally underrated.
I concur man. The incredible skill and versatility of the man was undeniable to any drummer. I believe he was only 20yrs old when recording his drum tracks on ‘Human’ by DEATH … which is still one of my favourite drumming albums.
Edit : Already that good at 20 = 🤯 !
This man changed metal drumming forever with his unique style. Human is this day one of my favorite death metal albums.
What a drummer! You couldn't pigeonhole him into one genre. He was death metal, fusion, rock etc. He was a pioneer of no boundaries for us heavier drummers. Made it look so effortless.. RIP and condolences to your husband and family ❤️ you'll be missed by a lot of people.

Worked with him at a drum clinic. One of the nicest and funniest monsters to ever step behind the kid. Unmatched in my opinion.

What a unique individual. Not a predictable drummer by any means. And to be unpredictable but so solid at the same time...

Guy was just on a completely different level. Innovator in every sense.
His music affected me so much that I feel the loss like a friend has been lost. Someone who influenced me and made my life better for being in my life. RIP.

Living in Japan since '07, every day I kick myself that I never got around to seeing these guys when their original rhythm section was still alive and healthy.
I love how he made those toms SING.
A true innovator in the metal realm. His drum flow was so beautiful, serene and powerful... will never forget the first time I listened to "Focus", it completely blew my teenage mind and ears away
My first hearing it was at a concert they opened for someone no idea which show it was anymore but it was a club show and I'd never heard of them before. The crowd wasn't feeling it for the most part. A lot of standing around a few claps after each song. It's not for everyone, but it blew my mind and I bought the Focus CD the next day. I still listen to Focus at least once a month. Heck must of been 1993 or 1994.
Unbelievable.. This man is not with us... Fuck man... This guy change my drumming forever.. R. I. P... Thank you Sir Sean...

Sadly it's at a slower tempo. But nonetheless it's still an amazing drum vid
I noticed the slower tempo but was also sitting here thinking just how clear his hands were. I mean you could really see the nuances of his technique. Hands down my favorite drummer. I started when I was 4 years old. Discovered cynic as a freshman in high school. His playing helped me see drums in an entirely new way.
RIP to a drumming legend. His work on Focus opened my eyes to a new level of drumming.
R.I.P. You will be always remembered. He left bright and mighty trace in musical culture. ✌️

Absolute beast, never overdone, always keeping the music first. I re-watched Death by Metal last night, and the whole section about Human is pretty much Sean's drum work being praised. Recorded long before his passing, which speaks volumes about his skill.

I once saw Cynic open for BTBAM years ago, and I was a pretty big fan of Death... I watched the entire show not even knowing who they were haha, I felt so dumb. But it was really awesome still, and they ruled.
