      So Arsenio was pushing the liberal bs ideology and acting all soft. Not everyone is going to like all actors or comedians! That's why we get to pick and choose ! If you don't like somebody , then you don't have to listen to them ! It's that simple ! Leave the people alone that like his kind of content! It's none of your business. Arsenio was ahead of his time in terms of his political correctness, and wanting to censor every word. I think political correctness is dangerous, and it has gotten way out of control this day and age. It's so bad that comedians don't have a whole lot of choice in the venues they can play for fear of "offending" someone. This is comedy, people are suppose to be offended, while laughing at themselves. It like America is turning into Soviet Russia. I see comedians apologizing everyday for "offending" someone, I don't want to live in that world, if you can't take a comedian saying "offensive" things then move to North Korea.

    • @MlninPricl
      @MlninPricl 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really believe Arsenio was the one who wanted a politically correct world back then? He'll tell you a different story today. Arsenio was a puppet. Look at who financed and produced his show. Look at who his writers were. You have this misconception that he had some level of autonomy on his show. He didn't.

    • @MlninPricl
      @MlninPricl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Great TH-cam Name Words are just words, but intent is everything. If I string a group of words together, and am charismatic enough, I could inspire a large group of people to commit "white genocide". Were my words really that harmless? This is what Dice was trying to explain. The KKK used words, and their intent with those words were to promote hatred and intolerance. Dice was using some of the same words, but with the intent to make people laugh, not to promote hatred. The pen is mightier than the sword, and it has always been that way. Words are only "just words" when your intent is for them to be "just words". Otherwise, words can be more lethal than a nuclear bomb when they are weaponized by a charismatic individual.

    The "Diceman" is a character Andrew Silverstein developed in the mid 1970's at Pip's in Brooklyn. Mitzi Shore, owner of the famed Comedy Store in LA, boosted Dice into the mainstream with bit parts in major movies and sitsoms in the early 80's. "Dice" is a character, Silverstein is a great writer, and performer. Do the people who are offended actually think he walks around all day talkign and thinking like this? Not a fan of Dice, but lots of Eddie Murphy's comedy as seen in "Delirious" or "Raw" touches on much of the same stuff that Dice did in his act. Murphy was criticized at the time too. However, not by Arsenio! Arsenio had to maintain his friendship with the biggest star of his time and had to get that Coming To America money. In fact, I believe one of Arsenio's band members protested Dice's appearance and did not show up that night because of his comments about woman. That's her right, but I bet you that she was there whenever Eddie appeared.

    This interview is strange because Dice and Arsenio are great friends. So was it staged or was Arsenio perpetrating a fraud?

    • @johndalton3180
      @johndalton3180 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Arsenio was the only major talk show host who would allow Andrew Dice Clay to come on. Carson wouldn't. Letterman wouldn't. Leno wouldn't. After a while, people started taking Arsenio to task for giving Dice a forum to display what they felt was his racist, sexist, and homophobic act. This was Arsenio giving Dice a chance to answer his critics. Nothing wrong with that.

      @@johndalton3180 scroll through the comments and be disappointed that so many people don’t know a devil’s advocate when they see it. I don’t think Hall is doing anything wrong here and is merely asking questions he thinks Dice’s detractors would want answered.

      I mean in California I'm not the least bit surprised he didn't sell out. 🤷 they hate anything not leaning far left in that state. Doesn't excuse his drunkenness. Lots of them lefties are moving to my home state of Texas now. Gonna ruin it just like they did California

    Everyone keeps comparing eddie murphy to dice and i dont see nothing in common. Eddie executed in a goofy confident way and dice comes off as aggressive and insecure. It doesn’t offend me i want alive in those times so i dont care but im just stating the obvious

      They are *Not* comparing their delivery. *Clearly* their performances are much different.
      The comparison is of the offensive, non-PC, subject matter. As an example, Eddie and Dice both make blatant fun of homosexuality.

    Dice went about his career the wrong way in the beginning. In my opinion he should have done interviews as Andrew Silverstein. Maybe then people could have seen it as it was, a character doing an act.

    It’s always the interviewer that’s the forgotten person. Arsenio wishes he had the balls and talent to be a real comedian like Dice…I saw him do stand up just a few years ago and he didn’t even do anything from his early days it was all new material and had hilarious jokes. He’s a legend..and that crowd booing Dice is the lamest bunch of losers ive ever heard…but that’s to be expected at an Arsenio Hall show. Which would soon be cancelled and forgotten..just like Arsenio Hall.

  • @Bdog1277

    Funny that Arsenio never grilled Eddie Murphy like this when he was on the show, and Eddie talked about all the same shit Dice did. Eddie dissed gays, women, Italians, etc. Oh I forgot, Eddie is Arsenio's homie. Dice should have got up and walked off this show.
