Did I hear how you graduated beauty school only 3 years ago?! And you're a salon owner?! If that's not goals I don't know what is! 💕 can you please do a video on the steps you took to owning your own salon and how to be a salon owner! It would mean the world to me! Love you and all your videos btw! 💕
Please please please make a video on taxes!!! This is my first year on my own so I would really appreciate it, and thanks for being so positive!! I always watch your videos when I have doubts or questions and also love how nice and motivational you can be because it's hard finding other stylists like that, and me being so new to the Industry i appreciate people like you.
I'm so relieved you have learned in your young career age how to be successful by not being catty. I live in a small town with a lot of salons also. I did pretty well quickly compared to ones that have been around a while but are catty. Clients come in all the time and mention how much different we are from other salons in a good way. Proud of you for that!
yes its very nice of you. We didn't have ANY of this before. School gets you the license and the basics but you learn so much more on the job and through your own research and continuing education :-)
I'm literally crying right now. You said everything I've been thinking to myself. I'm a hairstylist myself and sometimes my confidence of not succeeding a project gets to me. Thank you so much and I always wondered where you are located. I love you and your work tremendously.
Thanks Jessie. I have really slimmed down the amount of stylists that I follow closely on TH-cam. Time is really valuable as I am a stylist part time with a full yime job. So its important for me to watch videos that will only be valuable to me. Your channel is very informative especially in color and I enjoy the beauty school series. Thank you for sharing and being so pleasant!
Thanks for this video. I have been in the business over 15 yrs and agree with a lot of your points. I love this Quote " Supporting another's success won't ever dampen yours." And the fact that we should support each other, not tare one another down.
Jessi, Terrific job with all your tutorials! I've been in the industry for over 30 years and a salon owner for most of them, but always pick up one or two ideas/tips when I watch your videos. All of your points in this series are spot on, especially about being nice to coworkers, employees and stylists you consider "competitors". These things are not taught in cosmetology school and sadly not taught in most salons. Please add a section on respect which includes being On Time for your shift, because although I love everyone's clients, I dont have the time to "hang out" with them until their stylist (booth renter) strolls in and although booth renters are their own bosses, their actions affect my salon and everyone in it. Thanks! Keep up the good work!
You are so wonderful and I wish I could like this video a million times! Thank you for your positivity and sharing your work! From a new stylist, it is so appreciated 💕
I cant stop looking at how well blended your extensions are. could you do a video on how to blend extensions into the natural hair? something I struggle with. I'm pretty sure I've watched everyone of your videos multiple times but if you have a video that shows how to blend, could you link it to me? thanks Jessi, you're such a huge inspiration to me.
I'm just half way through this video and I am already inspired and have more motivation!! Jessie I am in LOVE with your journey and your channel. I have had a million dollar business in my head and by subscribing to your channel you have given me hope that I thought was lost, inspiration and sooo many tips and advice that has put me back on my path. I want to THANK YOU for opening up your life to me and others keep up the fantastic work!!! Someone in Corona,CA is your fan I pray that when u come back to California I attend your class!!!!
I love how positive you are your honesty and kindness was what drew me to your salon, will forever be a customer ❤️ love your stylists and service you provide
Well said hun, as we would say in Jamaica, "u hit the nail on the head", each of the point u mentioned was very well said, and u will always make it not just with ur salon, but with anything u do or where every u go with that type of attitude. May Yahweh continue to bless and keep u.👍😊
You are such an uplifting and positive person and it truly inspires me to be a better person. I've always loved doing hair and wanted to go to school but have thought that I couldn't because I wouldn't be very successful so I needed to do something to provide for my family. Watching your videos has always been great but seeing this one has honestly been inspirational and made me belive that I can actually do this if I try and I can be a successful hair dresser as long as I put in the hard work and never give up. Thank you for being so wonderful and for using your platform to educate and inspire others!
Thank you jessi! I'm in beauty school right now and theres just so much that they dont teach us. I binge watch your videos before clients to boost my self esteem and to learn new techniques!
I cant believe ppl are bullying you and putting you down,u r so nice and I love your channel and your personality.i wish u all the success and hope the haters leave you alone and they must be jealous.
I'm about to be a beauty school graduate and I appreciate you more and more each video I watch. You are so motivational and such an inspiration!! Thank you for all what you do! Much love from New Mexico xoxo
You are awsome, thank you for sharing wat u learned. I been in the industry off and on for 25 years and just opened my shop. Trust me i’m nervous but i believe it will prosper. And my weak area is double dim and color correcting. I only would do it in the past with my manager telling me wat to use. I know the steps and process but not the product knowledge. So thanks for the inspo i really appreciate it, along with the knowledge you are sharing. 🙏🏾 oh yeah i was wondering if you will allow people to buy in bulk from ur hair extensions.
you are so inspiring.. this is ecxatley what I think as well about other hairdressers.. there is really no reason about beeing jelouse or put someone down.. I just moved my salon between other two hairsalons and it is perfectly fine... I just love doing hair and thanks for all your inspiration 😍😍
Love your videos jessi! I’m in cosmology school currently and your videos are so helpful, especially with the things we don’t touch on. I really appreciate you 💗
If you're still interested, my Cosmo teacher sent me an email on this very topic. She literally was teaching us new techniques, but stopped and said, "let's talk about money". Lol Feel free to email me if you'd like me to forward it to you. This is not talked about enough, and it's super important. janetta.vidano@gmail.com
This is a great video-all SO true! Please please please do a series on opening a salon. After doing hair for 10 years, its such a dream of mine, but I have no idea where to start. (Especially when it comes to the financial side of starting a salon). You have done so awesome building your salon-is love to hear your advice!
I love this so much. You are truly an inspiration! I really needed to hear your positive words of encouragement and advice, you are so sweet! I lack confidence and being a new stylist it can get pretty discouraging as I tend to heavily critique my work and put myself down. This made me feel so much more confident. Thank you for this! :)
Absolutely loved this video! You deserve all the happiness and success in the world. You are a true diamond 💎 I live in the UK and started out hairdressing over 10 years ago now and had such a flare and passion for it but once Id qualified after 3 years of training, I left because I didnt have great management and I lost confidence in myself. All my friends and family to this day say they wish I didnt stop because they loved how I did their hairs. I am so unhappy in the business admin field I moved into and I am scared at the thought of hairdressing again but it was my happy place and absolute passion but stumbling across your videos recently is giving me the motivation again to possibly get back into it and to take some classes. Did you start out in a salon or did you build yourself as a hairdresser from scratch? You're a true inspiration and I couldn't be more grateful that I've stumbled across your channel. If you have any advice for me if you have a spare second Id be so grateful for some insight xx
Just want to say how happy I am that I've come across your channel! I graduated beauty school about a year ago and have been working in salons as an apprentice/assistant and now a junior stylist. Did you ever assist? What's your experience with working with other stylists or being an assistant if yes.
Thanks so much for this video! I would LOVE for you to make a video on taxes! I'm new to the hair industry and decide to do booth rental right off the bat and I'm terrified about tax season because I never learned anything about it in school
I am obsessed with ur new salon and ur videos. u r so blessed and u don't let it go to ur head. I'm from Ontario Canada and was wondering if I could come shadow you in ur salon?
Question: I'm a hairstylist, and I'm finding a lot of young girls come in the salon expecting the world, and thinking they know everything, because of what they see on TH-cam. What do you do when they tell you what You should tone their hair with or what cancels out what, like they're the pros? What's your take on that?
H Hargreaves the way I would handle this would be to just explain it to them. Especially if the information is incorrect for their situation. Their hair is unique so the same formula or processes may not work the same for them as it did for the model online. Communicate the difference in what you intended to do and what they think is right to let them know how you plan to achieve the results they want in a customized way to them. This way they feel like they've learned a little bit and it doesn't leave them feeling like you didn't listen to their wishes. You don't have to tell them every trick in the book but get the point across that it's much more complicated then steps 1, 2, 3 done. Who knows, maybe they've done their research because they have a genuine interest in the process and you sharing info with them could lead them to becoming a stylist themselves one day. It would also build trust and keep them coming back after they see the way you did it was exactly what they wanted!
Loved this I'm just starting in the industry I passed my practical exam back in December and am so ready to get started. I am nervous because I am visually impaired and far as I know I am the only visually impaired person to get a cosmetology license and nervous about people labeling me as a disabled person instead of who I am. What advice can you give on how to handle clients who will be ugly about that?
And love the kindness section, I have been bullied in the salon for stepping outside the box with techniques and it can be discouraging! Thanks for shining a light🙌🏻
Hey Jessi! I’m a hairstylist apprentice. I’m already on the floor after 3 months. I have been really hard on myself and super anxious anytime I have a client. Cutting is my biggest challenge. What is some good advice for being able to look at a picture and knowing how to cut? Also, what would your advice be for an apprentice that is learning as they go?
Do you have any tips and/or websites on how to find these classes? I live in a small town in Kansas and can't afford to travel to big cities to take these classes. Or maybe any online courses? Thanks in advance!
Hi I went to beauty school about 20 years ago when I was 18 and got my license. I never worked as a hairstylist all these years bcz I chose another career path. Now I want to get back into this field as I still have my license but I have no idea how to do anything that has to do with hair. I got a job as an assistant n have been working for almost 8 months. But I don't understand anything about color. What kind of advice can you give someone like me. I really want to be the best hairstylist I can be. I'm so lost please answer Thank you.

Hi

Thank you.
Lea Time as someone who's trying to get into hair after some time of not using my license my advice is this. Find an educated oriented salon that you can assist at, watching TH-cam videos helps me a lot too. Good luck
Where are you located at?
Sonia Gonzalez - Nieves American Fork, Utah.
you're so intelligent
i dyed my hair ash blonde and it turned green how i can fix it and remove the green tone?
Aziza 87 are you a licensed hair stylist?
katlin macleod no
ash is green!!! so you have too much ash on there. you either need to do a soap cap to remove some of it or add some gold. next time try using something with a violet undertone instead of green.
katlin macleod thank you
Aziza 87 you should go to a professional for this because it would be considered a color correction and could go bad if not done properly.
