I've known the Rocket Raccoon character for a bit before the first movie, and they always kept Raccoon out of his name. So this part in the movie had me hype asf!!
A subtle thing I didn't notice before is how, when the HE shows up, Rocket shook himself to make the kits get off; he knew he was about to be attacked and wanted them to get clear so they weren't hurt in the process.
I like how they reinforce that this isn’t “our” Gamora throughout the movie. All the heroic Guardians are kicking HE around the room to wear him down but she’s the one that straight up stabs him.
What I love that Rocket left HE alive. Being bested by his creation and wallowing in his complete and utter failure will be so much worse for a raging narcissist like HE than death.
I love that Rocket Raccoon and the Guardians of the Galaxy went from obscure comic book characters (with some cameos in games and cartoons) to beloved icons and heroes. And I love that all of the Guardians participate in the beatdown of the High Evolutionary.
Rocket & Quill are from the same planet. One is a half breed of the most sentient land mammal & the other is a cyberneticly enhanced lower life form, engineered to be smarter than the human half-breed. Remember: Stark, Banner & Rocket did the hard work getting the gauntlet snap ready, like solidifying the Aether.
Good on James Gunn for giving us villains in his movies that we could flat out hate. No more ambivalence. No, "well if you think about it, they have a point." No, they're hot/charming, "I could fix him." We all hated the High Evolutionary. Hated him and everything he stood for.
that moment of Rocket there at the cage and all the baby raccoons crawling onto his back and clinging onto him was the moment Rocket multiclassed into a swarmlord Ranger and picked the best kind of animal swarm.
If Rocket had killed him, we would have cheered. If he lets him live, we cheered. This is the decision Anakin should have faced in Revenge of the Sith. And when Anakin fell to the Dark Side, we should have cheered...and then realized what we had done.
I never knew how much I’d appreciate the arc Rocket went on to finally embrace his last name of Raccoon.
It really was Rocket's story all along.
Him accepting it and making it his surname is so badass

Yeah, i noticed that too
Its a nice detail
I love that Rocket got a "I'm not going to kill you. But I don't have to save you," moment.

Rocket went full circle in acceptance with himself.

Rocket is the heart of team
So Groot is the soul?
Having raised raccoons that had lost their mom's....this scene always triggers me...

Rocket is not just from earth, but he’s an American as well.

What I also liked was remembering the others saw footage of what High Evolutionary did to Rocket and execute their own vengeance.
The most loud I ever got the whole movie!
Please do reactions to opening to guardians 2 where baby Groot is dancing

Yes, it is weird that you find it funny that people can be moved by a heart touching story.
