Great video! I normally do all my repairs myself, but I have been busy with my company so I had the wife send the car into the shop for this repair. They did not fix the problem after several days so I just picked up the car and of course they wanted to charge me $550.00 for nothing. Like I said I usually work on all my cars myself, so I did some research and found the DIY fix for this issue. I don't now how many times my wife just left the key in the ignition and just said, oh well hope no one drives off with the car..lol It's worked now for about 5 years. I wish I had saw this video or made one 5 years ago to help peeps out with the same issues. I appreciate your time spent for this video.

Your video was very helpful. My ‘14 Forester had this problem. I felt someone must have a video where I could see that switch itself to determine if I could just fix it by just tweaking it. Your video clearly showed me where it was and it could be done. My repair was successful and as a bonus I cleaned up all the sticky gooey stuff that has accumulated in the center console these past 10yrs.

I am not mechanical at all, but I decided it was worth a try rather than pay the dealer somewhere between $500-$1000. Followed your directions step by step! Perfect!!! Thanks.

My wifes 2015 XV was doing this, getting progressively worse. After watching your video, it took me 10 mins to fix the issue and now I have a happy wife again. Thanks :)

I have been having this problem for several months now with a 2013 Subaru Impreza. I tried the battery replacement solution, it didn't help. I cleaned the switch with WD-40, it didn't help. I lubricated the switch with graphite, it helped a little but the problem was not solved.
I should have started with the solution in this video, I just did what was described in the video, it took me 15 minutes - and it solved the problem! I really thank you for this video. I'm sure it saved me quite a bit of money.

    * * SPOT ON FIX * *. My 2017 Forester just started with the stuck key about two weeks ago. Has progressively gotten worse. Didn't know about the older battery situation as I just replaced my battery about 6 months ago so I went right to the bedding of the tab. Only took me maybe 15 minutes. Fixed it. I'm so thankful for the video and just wanted to say thank you for posting. Straight to the point and SPOT ON.

Noticed that the same issue was happening in my Missus 2013 Subaru XV since last month. A little wiggle on the steering wheel and another start then put to drive and park can fix it. However, yesterday, she went home, going ballistic on me telling me it took her 20 minute's to remove the key😅. She was late in her work time in. She was asking me to call mechanic straight up to have it fix. Have to calm her down and told her I will do a research first. Found your video. Just now, I completed doing as per your video. Hopefully your video will save our marriage😅🤞. (joke only), this is from down under. Thanking you in advance

Thanks for this. Question: The little tab that you bend up - should the surface of the tab be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, or should it be cleaned and then lubricated?

I think the goo on there needs to stay to make sure the electrical connection is made, if you clean it off it won’t work as good.

I’ve been having this problem for the last 2 months and finally found this video. Extremely well instructed and it helped for a little however I’m now having to take apart my console every couple days and worried about having to do this too frequently. I’m now thinking of just replacing the switch- curious if this is supposed to fix the problem for good or be used as a bandaid for a part malfunction that will eventually need to be replaced

You probably need to bend it more

Did the new battery fix last two years for you (based on the upload time)

Lasted about 6 months or so, it was definitely less likely to get stuck after changing it but the parking switch is the best way to fix it
