    Just remember you didn’t gain all this in one day. You put this on over years so when your weight loss slows down just take it one day at a time. Scales and measurements don’t always move but your health and body is healing. Keep it up!

    Great update. You are both doing very well. During my 70 lbs. weight loss journey, I had multiple months where I lost only 6 lbs. but my clothes kept getting looser….I let that be my guide. When I went to OMAD with no snacking, the weight loss accelerated so you are on the right track. On the holidays, I ate what I wanted using restraint. One bite of this and one bite of that sort of thing with no seconds. When it was over, I didn’t feel deprived or that I grossly over ate. I felt good that I was in control and used good judgement. The next day, I was back on the horse. It did not impact my monthly weight loss progress. No biggie. Not recommending what I did, it’s just my experience. I continue to do this on holidays (a few days per year) and I’m still keeping the weight off with no problems and life’s good. You’re going to make it!

      Thank you so much for sharing - it was nice to hear that you went through similar low weight loss months like we are and still managed to lose 70 pounds - Great job!
      I think your approach to holidays is ideal, and I am hoping to eventually get there. Don’t quite trust myself enough yet but that is the goal. Again, thank you for taking the time to share this with us - it’s helpful and much appreciated!

    For more satiety I put butter on my beef and sometimes I eat eggs with some kind of meat. For munchies butter is great. I also use heavy cream or butter in my coffee. When using butter in coffee you need to blend it with a stick blender or a regular blender until frothy. I also add a little salt. Good Health!

    Omad or any extended fasting is a weight loss secret weapon. But weight loss happens anyway when we need less insulin. The way you feel, energy, pain relief, those things that make it easier for you to move and execute physical tasks or maybe even make you want to go enjoy bike rides or paddle boarding or ice skating or challenge yourself, those are the magic things that come with finding out which fuel has been causing all those debilitating issues. Congratulations on finding this amazing lifestyle. My mind is still blown with what has happened in my life, family members, friends, loved ones I know personally. And everyone online.
    It’s basically insane that this is even possible after everything else we’ve always been taught.

    • @chefgonecarnivore
      @chefgonecarnivore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chefgonecarnivore Thank you. I’m very excited for you both and everyone around you who gets to benefit from the release of this info. I only learned about insulin once I was forced to in 2016 when I almost lost my child to type one diabetes. She is thriving and kicking butt every day. A lot of her pals are suffering but it’s not easy to defy the specialists when you have a chronic (dangerous) condition and you are being told by your medical team that you can get sick from cutting too many carbs.
      She wanted to try even more aggressive diet-change, before prescribed medication, when they found a second auto-immune condition. Once again, she was told she could die without medication and once again we hammered into diet.
      Suddenly, after going hard carnivore the symptoms went away. Then, the doctors were confused when her labs came back negative and I told them she never took the meds.
      Somehow though, no one asked what we were doing. They just gave us the lab results. No statement saying she will die without the meds, no curiosity.
      I have really enjoyed the curious-minded medical staff the most. We can learn from each other if we can engage in give/take conversation rather than just reporting/receiving test results and ending the conversation there.
      The main thing I hear the most is that medical staff are.. busy. Too busy to really start looking. Thankfully some medically trained professionals are available to put pieces together now.. for the medical professionals who end up digging deeper later on. There have been a lot of dots connected over the last few decades and I personally am most thankful simply for the recipes we have access to because of everyone who started before us!
      Enjoy this awesome, wild ride! I am just so amazed at how many lives it is saving every day. Including some really wonderful people in my life. And hopefully their family members soon, too. 🥰

    Great job you two! Going through a holiday and not gaining any weight is an accomplishment, yet in fact you both lost weight!
    I only lost 3 pounds in November, but I lost close to an inch on my waist, I'm calling that a win anyway! Not gaining any weight is a win, losing a little weight is better than none.
    It stinks that I'm not losing more weight, but I'm not giving up.
    I went to one meal a day during the work week. Usually a large meal at 6PM. The key for me I found out is if I want snack something, I will pull the pin and make a full meal. If I am making food for the kids in the morning and subconsciously eat a piece of bacon, I declare a meal is on and make myself bacon and eggs to satiation. If I don't do that, I will fall into snacking so fast it won't even be funny.
    I've been stuck at a weight I was at for many years, so I think once I get through that maybe things will pick up, but I think my body is going through a lot of healing and who knows if stuff that was stored in my fat stores is being flushed out screwing everything up. Winter is here in Michigan, maybe my body is trying to get into a hibernation mode.
    I've noticed I've fallen off the electrolytes and potassium salt routine, maybe that's causing a problem.
    Either way, I'm not quitting and I hope you guys don't either, and see you in a month!!

    • @chefgonecarnivore
      @chefgonecarnivore  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d say losing the inch in your waist is the best win of all! For me it’s been that way for a bit - I’m not seeing huge numbers on the scale but I’m still losing inches.
      Don’t give up, just keep hammering away. We’ll do the same. Thank you for your encouraging words and for sharing your November results with us👍🏼

    This sounds strange.. But what I do is substitute an egg for heavy cream in my coffee. I actually use 2 eggs in my large (24oz) coffee. And 2 tablespoons of butter. I use that as my breakfast. If you are concerned about raw eggs, that ratio of 2 eggs to 24 oz heats the drink to greater than 160 degrees F so the eggs are not really still raw. I have a personal Ninja blender with a 32 oz cup that I blend it in. I usually have two of those, so 4 eggs and 4 tablespoons of butter. Then I have one other meal per day. That meal is usually 1 to 2 lbs of beef (ground beef, steak, roast, etc). And in a 6 hour window.
    I sometimes use fish (usually salmon) or chicken (usually thighs). Occasionally my 2nd meal is a combination of cod liver and/or sardines or maybe canned herring. Those alternative to beef meats maybe one time a week.
    But I feel the eggs blended in the coffee are a great alternative to half and half or heavy cream.
    I am also not necessarily 100% carnivore. I will occasionally (less than once a month) have leafy greens, broccoli, avacado or maybe some berries. But I always stay less than 20 carbs per day if I do any berries or veggies. I don't normally track macros other than carbs. But I will measure/weigh the non meats to keep track of grams of carbs.
    With my ground beef I do sometimes have 1 tablespoon of G. Hughes or Primal Kitchens sauce as a condiment. They have 1 or 2 carbs per tablespoon.
    I'd call what I do Ketovore not Carnivore.. But it works for me.
    I have been doing this for 4 years now. Down 85 lbs to around 195 lbs. Non diabetic A1C (around 5.1), normal blood pressure, better eyesight, no arthritis symptoms, etc. All of these are reversals (diabetes, hypertension). I'm 60 years old, no medications now.
    Just pick something you can stick to and be comfortable with.

    TL;DR: Start extended fasting and cut out the bacon and cheese.
    Obesity is a battle against inflammation as much as it is a process of weight loss. Visceral adiposity (belly fat) is inflammatory and resistant to being used for fuel while also promoting further fat storage. Nothing kickstarts fat loss like a prolonged fast while on a carnivore diet in my experience. During an extended fast your body burns visceral fat much more effectively. Since you've been carnivore for months you shouldn't run into any issues with a 2 day or 3 day water only fast. I feel like you can safely extend that to a week with some experience as long as you break it gently.
    Definitely cut out the cheese and bacon, they're both problematic from an inflammation standpoint. Bacon has added sugar and other ingredients and is high in omega 6 since pigs are not ruminants and are eating an industrial food waste diet.

    • @Misrising
      @Misrising ปีที่แล้ว

      It's still his choice to make.
      Uncured bacon is a much better option.
      Just FYI people in Europe and around the world have been eating dairy for Millennia, and they won't stop anytime soon. The modern world with its food and environmental issues weren't created overnight.
      I believe most people are doing what they can for better health.

      Neither of us worked out for the first several months, but I started doing weight training a few times a week at the beginning of December.
      I totally understand how the scale can be discouraging, when it doesn’t reflect the effort you feel you’re putting into it. We both have certainly experienced similar emotions. My advice would be to make sure you are taking measurements of your body as well as weighing in because there have been lots of weeks where we didn’t lose weight but lost inches. Good luck! You can do it!

    The first couple of months the weight comes off quickly - at least it did for me. And then it can become less steady. *It seems like - for me - that my body would take a pause on weight loss and then pick up again. *The nice thing is that I can tell, despite the weight-loss, my body composition is changing. Also? I believe I am gaining muscle and probably bone density - which could look like a fail for weight-loss.

    You're both doing well, heading in the right direction, I'd advise doing some weight training, just basic walking, bodyweight squats and some simple push and pull exercises, because a little muscle development brings up your metabolism and eats calories.
    I've been basically 90% carnivorous my whole life, it wasn't even a conscious decision, just how I ended up feeding myself eating what I preferred to eat, the only thing I eat that isn't carnivorous is a boiled potato with whatever lump of meat I'm eating for dinner, I still weigh more or less the same at 53 as I did at 23. I could never get an answere about having cream in your coffee if it breaks a fast. Putting cream in my couple cups of coffee makes me able to wait about 5 hours before I eat. I can see now that is what probably has been the reason I seen no change in my weight.

      Well, it would 'technically' break a fast. But so what. Some people do 'fat fasts' instead of water only fasts and get very similar results to water/coffee only fasts. Butter can be used in that case.
      But if you are getting OK results with cream in your coffee then don't sweat it. Just keep the carbs low and the rest will take care of itself.

      I agree it is very easy to not have enough fat. I personally try to stay close to 1g fat to 1g protein. That does mean I need to add butter or other fat to most meats. If I miss an exact 1 to 1, which I almost always do :), I like the higher one to be fat. And I personally target 160g of each fat and protein. It usually end up 180 fat and 120 to 150 protein in a normal day. But that is with lots of extra butter.
      Butter is your friend :)
