I am a native to a very rural area of Washington. If you are traveling on a budget, we have some really awesome state and local parks that don’t cost a lot of money to visit and you can still get relaxing time with your families in areas that give you a taste of the Northwest. If you were traveling on a budget, I highly recommend asking people who live in the areas you are visiting about state parks in the area. They’re all over from the Puget Sound, to Spokane. When in doubt, always ask a local! Please remember to take care of the places you visit by packing out your trash, cleaning up after dogs, and respecting burn bans. We love our home state and want to keep it beautiful for our children and wildlife.
I don’t know what rural area of Washington that you are in, but I am also in a rural part of Washington, and I could not disagree more. Ain’t no chance in hell that I’m gonna tell some townie all of the good spots so they can go trample it like all of the other townies do. My town has a population of 2,000 people, it’s so small that we don’t even have a single stoplight. My town is literally just a 4 way stop and we get absolutely FLOODED with people all year from Seattle and Portland and it has destroyed so many areas that were once beautiful. I want no part in sharing information with out of towners.
And look at state and county parks. We once camped at San Juan County Park. It overlooks Haro Straight- great for whale watching as they'd swim past twice a day. You have to know it's there.
The North Cascades is absolutely breathtaking. it's unique in that you can experience so much of the natural splendor right from your car, or within just a short walk after parking. Like the North Cascades, Olympic National Park is a panacea of nature. From Hurricane Ridge (not "Hurricane Pass") to the Hoh Rain Forest, the scenery is spectacular. As a native to the area, and being just a few minutes from Hurricane Ridge, I am still completely in awe when I walk the trail to the high ridge. It makes you realize just how small you are as you look thousands of feet down to the Strait of Juan de Fuca below. When my sister-in-law visited from the east coast, we took her to the Hoh Rainforest. At one point we lost her and doubled back. We found her laying on her back, looking up into the canopy, mesmerized by the wonder of nature.
I grew up in Vancouver WA, not Canada, and there are so many great places to visit there and a stones throw away. It sits on the stunning Columbia gorge, has its own significant history and on a clear day you can see four snow capped mountains, Hood, Adams, St Helens and Rainier( cuz it’s so massive). WA has three stunning national parks and Mt St Helens is just down the road from where I grew up in Vancouver. Can’t recommend it enough. Not just the visitors center but the road through Cougar, WA by the reservoir and up to Meta Lake. The road practically takes you to the peak of the mountain. It’s well worth the drive when the forest roads are open.

I actually live not far from Palouse falls and i do think it is really cool, but what i like the most is the high desert area around Washtucna Washington that is full of farmland and jagged rocky cliffs. I have lived in this area for 3 years now and I still love it.
I grew up close to Palouse falls too! Spent over 20 years there. I definitely have a new appreciation for where I grew up after moving all over the state. It is pretty. It's own kind of pretty. 💙
@@yellyegg6890 you would actually be surprised how many tourists actually go over that way, when visiting WA. It's a slower pace over there and a lot of people love it over there. Might as well see our state waterfall if you can 😊 Love Washington for how diverse it is.
You should watch Nick Zentner's videos on the Palouse, and the Ice Age floods that carved out that area. The falls today are miniscule in comparison to what they were. He's a geology prof at Central Washington University.

fun fact. There was douglas fir trees that were over 400 feet tall where Seattle, Everett, Bellingham ,Vancouver BC/WA exist. Only a mere 200 years ago there were rolling hills of trees draping the ceiling of existence. You can only imagine the possibilities of what existed.
The Spar Cafe in olympia was a 100yo restaurant/inn and before it was bought out about 10 years ago it had pictures from the early 1900s/late 1800s of Olympia. The area was originally covered in old growth cedar and fir trees that looked like redwoods they were so large and so old. Sadly despite the rhetoric of the democrat party that's ruled the area for decades they dont care about protecting the environment so people continue to cut down old growth there, 10 years ago I reported a company for cutting down a 200+ year old cedar tree in Olympia and the fine they were given was so small they actually turned a profit for cutting down the old growth trees that were in their way building houses
And majority western Washington actually used to be western red cedars. If Washington had remained fire free for the last hundred years, it would look more like the redwood forest, not the evergreen state. Doug firs took over, over time.

I lived in Seattle for over 30 years. I endured the grey skies and rainy months with mostly smiles and dignity. I had the opportunity to visit Snoqualmie Falls during my early years there, Vashon Island several times for retreats and Mount Rainier which is breathtaking. Definitely a lot of great places to see here! They left off a lot of hidden gems like Sol Duc hot springs, Twin Falls in North Bend, Ape Cave, or Hanford Site. All are amazing in their own ways
Beautiful,my unfulfilled wish is it to visit the United states, and see live at least a part of the natural beauty of America,so at least they can enjoy trhough this video, all the good you want, greetings from distant Bosnia and Herzegovina, and sorry in my bad English ❤️
One of the few sweet memories l have of my Dad is when he took me and my Little Brothers to Expo 74. We went several times. For some reason my Mom and Big Sister didn't come with us. But my Dad bought so much Junk Food l got sick to my Stomach and my Dad carried me in his Arms like a Baby all the way back to the car when l couldn't walk any longer. I was 10! 😅
Seeing Seattle makes me cry...

Seattle is a s**t show smelling like urine and full of homeless!
I actually live not far from Palouse falls and i do think it is really cool, but what i like the most is the high desert area around Washtucna Washington that is full of farmland and jagged rocky cliffs. I have lived in this area for 3 years now and I still love it.
wow, that sounds awesome
🌹❤️👍
Nice video. Really love to visit Washington state 💕
I'm going in September and happy to say 5 of these places I'll see!
Beautiful places and nice video. Thanks!
I sure miss living in Washington, but I don't miss the looong cold dark winters!!!!
Not cold at all in Winter.

😍
Beautiful places

Yes Seattle used to be nice , but in my opinion it shouldn’t be on the list anymore, I live in tacoma and the crime, homeless, drug problems in both cities is unbelievable, it’s ruining these great cities into the ground. The beauty is still there but the livability isn’t.😔
Welcome to planet earth...every state, nation and capital has these issues..
@@semoneg2826not really. It’s a policy option not a defined fate
Compared to other cities of its size, Seattle is actually has a relatively low crime rate. Although you’re definitely right about the homeless.
It used to be a good place before white people took the land of the indigenous
@@semoneg2826Nah Louisiana is known for crime but it’s not openly out on the street. I love visiting for nature these places but am always shocked to see how terrible it looks on the streets.

We joke that: We don't tan, we rust. We have webbed toes, and moss grows behind our ears. And when the sun 🌞 comes out, we squint because our eyes aren't adjusted to the brightness! (That's also why we buy sunglasses so often!)
The frequency of rain is the main reason why Washington State is the Evergreen State.
Probably not so much Seattle anymore, definitely levenworth
Pike's Place is still worth it.
So beautiful please Thanks 👍👍
Great video and yep Washington is more than just Seattle lol
I lived in Seattle for over 30 years. I endured the grey skies and rainy months with mostly smiles and dignity.
I had the opportunity to visit Snoqualmie Falls during my early years there, Vashon Island several times for retreats and Mount Rainier which is breathtaking.
Even driving with a friend
on the boundaries of the Columbia River and seeing the Hoover Dam upon our return to Seattle are memories that are tucked in my soul. When the crime and homeless waves began I felt less safe and several years ago, migrated to my native state of Texas. I do
I miss the diversity, the
great bus system and the amenities. Just so much to do. I have close friends there. I flew for safety's sake but gosh, I miss the area so much😪
Great video ❣️❣️ lots of information ☺️☺️☺️

North Cascades is such a fun area to camp!
Can’t wait to go back again
In my opinion, Whitbey Island must be included in one of them.
all islands should be on list. each one slightly different

I can't believe Spokane made the list. Bring your pepper spray.
Be sure to visit Dry Falls. It is possibly the largest freshwater waterfall ever to exist. All of the Scablands is an amazing place to visit, and you won't have to deal with large crowds.
I sure miss living in Washington 😮
Well well we're currently from Cowlitz County area, but already figured our cities probably wouldn't even be included, but we're not too bad over here of course!! 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
All good choices (always glad to see Spokane included on lists like this), but Dry Falls, the Palouse, and the Yakima Valley/Walla Walla wine regions are also worth the visit. Also the Gorge.
I am a native too used to live in seattle but moved as far as I can (after having children) so my family can enjoy the nature and be safe. My children never been to downtown Seattle, because I m concern about their safety. But I really feel bad about it.
Seattle isn't the same wonderful city anymore. I used to love visiting it.

If the world is developing today, it is because of the hard work of the people of the past. Great work has been done before. We also created a TH-cam channel but your channel is very beautiful and successful. Every new TH-camr should learn from your good work.

You should really make vids about Idaho and Montana! They’re the only states in the West except Nevada you haven’t done. And honestly, there’s not much to see in Nevada that’s not Area 51 or Las Vegas.
