- In today's video I'm taking a first look at the new Bentley wheel which crosses the line between sim racing and real world motorsport, talking to Fanatec CEO Thomas Jackermeier, and taking a ride in the company van around the Nurburgring.
Fanatec debuted the upcoming Bentley wheel at Sim Racing Expo and were kind enough to give me a healthy chunk of time to make this before the doors opened and things got busy! - เกม
Really appreciate fanatec’s strategic approach. Bring economies of scale through consumer sales to drive down costs for race teams, thereby encouraging more crossover partnerships. Everyone wins. Exciting to see this unfold.
Porsche, BMW, Ferrari wheels will fly off shelves more so the Porsche and Ferrari
@@JsBlazIN agree. They already launched a wheel with bmw. AMG is working with cube controls. My dream would be the wheel on the Porsche cup. Unfortunately I think brands like Porsche and Ferrari are least likely to do joint development on a product like this. But I hope I’m wrong.
@@markitrix you're right I highly DOUBT Ferrari would do that. Them and their exclusivity bs. They won't attach their name to a "cheap" wheel etc. Porsche probably not but a bigger shot then Ferrari.

Looks great. I was not expecting them to do a collab with Bentley.
I wasn't expecting Bentley to get involved with sim racing... and then last year they seemed to get involved with ESports in a big way. They've done a lot of great work to change the perception of the brand over the last few years or so with their motorsport program, this feels like a natural extension to me!
Interesting concept, to develop wheels for the teams to get them cheaper wheels and get authentic stuff to the consumer. Seems like it would benefit all parties pretty well.
and don’t forget the middle man: fanatec, they also get benefits
I don't know for sure since I'm rather new to simracing, but it seems to me that there is somewhat of a larger trend at play as well - simracing as a whole just seems to move closer and closer to real racing

@@SaintThaG not everybody has the opportunity to race cars in real life no matter the cost, you have to remember not everyone lives next to a racetrack, has the money or even has a licence to do it
As silly as it sounds at first, but I do kinda like the display stand and that it does offer some functionallity on top even if it is just a clock. Definitely an eye catcher. Thanks for the video.
I thought same originally but I think it would look nice as a clock in the office during the day. Then of course a beast at home on the track.

The screen is cool, but I can't really imagine using it in a race..
All info is on my monitor and looking down to look on the wheel doesn't seem like something I would do a lot.

I dont buy Fanatec products anymore but if SRM or someone else can make this work with my SC2 I’d buy one. I think it’s the best looking Fanatec wheel to date.
It shows the progress in sim racing as this rim can be used in the real world car

Fanatec you need to develop a modern F1 wheel with built in screen, like used by Lewis and many other drivers.

Looks pretty sweet and since I'm a big fan of the Bentley GT3 and the Speed 8 it would be a cool wheel to have when I upgrade to fanatec. Depends on the price though, can't help but think it will be a bit too pricey for what I'm comfortable with for just a wheel but we'll see.
Really nice looking wheel, although I wouldnt necessary need the support for my Bentley Gt3 Pikes Peak that I have laying around at home
Well it would be a deal breaker for me if it wasn't compatible as my Bentley GT3 Pikes Peak is just sitting on the street without a steering wheel

I'm pretty sure thrustmaster has exclusive rights to Ferrari. I wouldn't get my hopes up to high.

Also crazy its been 2 years and they still havent released this wheel.
2 more wheels in the making with more on the way is super exciting. I wonder what else we can expect. Porsche and Aston Martin just recently switched to a new steering wheel that already looks very similar to the BMW GT3 steering wheel, so I can't image either of them will already be developing a new steering wheel with Fanatec. Ferrari is still in bed with Thrustmaster, so I don't think Ferrari would ever have Fanatec build them a new steering wheel. Honda/Acura is leaving GT3. Audi/Lamborghini's wheel supplier, MegaLine, already makes sim conversions of their genuine steering wheels under the label, Phoenix Sim Racing.
Mercedes' steering wheel is very much overdue for a refresh, so maybe we're getting a new Fanatec Mercedes wheel. Hyundai's Veloster N ETCR has been spotted using the Podium Advanced Paddle module, so maybe Hyundai and Fanatec will have something in the works. There are a lot of LMH and LMDH cars coming out soon. Maybe one of them will use a Fanatec steering wheel now that Fanatec is making wheels with integrated displays, but those cars have much higher budgets than a GT Car.
Are the color coded buttons be swapped with other options and other labels for greater customization?
Will this and the other two GT3 production wheels planned for the future come shipped with the QR2 included or do we think that will be a separate purchase?
This wheel probably sells for a good entry-level price of £1,000 😂
You’ll pay more than that for a Cube or a Precision Sim Engineering wheel. The market for top end gear is clearly there.
I'd say somewhere between 3-10k if it's a real wheel that fits on a fanatec.
@@tracklizard4018 afaik it's already been confirmed that it will definitely come in below 5k. Now I know that's still alot and also leaves lots of room for speculation, but it's still at least half the price of your highest guesstimate

Gotta hand it to Fanatec, their product and marketing strategy is pretty good. I have a DD2 coming, at some point I'll probably have to put one of those wheels on that, it is a real race car wheel, I mean, that is why most of us got into simracing in the first place, isn't it?

They're wire plate stands. I've yet to find a wheel that won't fit!

I took off my DD1, replaced it with a Simucube, I really want this wheel.
Are they compatible? I think the conversion voids warranty and is expensive?
It amazes me that people say the new QR is "night and day different" but previously said the QR1 didn't really have that much flex of attached properly :/

It's all well and good, but, it's a shame they aren't doing wheel and base bundles anymore. I'm stuck as to what to buy due to Fanatec hiking their prices through the roof.

Pololo p310 V8SC/ GT3 wheel is equally as good if not better and more traditional looking multi class style I'd recommend anyone looking at buying a high end wheel,
Pololo p310 is €1400 and once you see video of it you're definitely putting one on ya wish list 🔥, This Bentley wheel looks to out there and diminish realism of alot of popular sim card ppl drive.
This wheel is perfect, the screen is a great idea idk why randomcallsign didn't like it.

id hardly say that the display stays level. if anything it jumps around is completely distracting.
We got enough wheel rims. Give us Motorcycle handlebars to attach to a Fanatec wheelbase!
What I´m not sure yet is if the real Bentley GT3 car will use this steering wheel, like BMW will do with the M4 GT3, or if this is a one-off for the Pikes Peak car.
Bentley quits GT3 program by the end of this year so it's unlikely the wheel is used in the real GT3 car anymore but only in the Pikes Peak beast.
I am used to lots of stuff due to playing in VR only, but boy, that display gives me some motion sickness.
so eventually all wheels will come with new QR mechanism. Going to cost a fortune to convert.

Given that the BMW wheel is €1,500, I reckon this will breach €2,000 easily.

Anyway the downside of sim racing it’s boring lot of boring playing with a sim car. I’ve enjoyed GP series from Crammon but now any sim car games are boring .

All these TH-cam videos are great and interesting. The one thing they don’t do is inform you what their products are like to live with over a period of time.
If you wish to have a happy and content life please take my advise and look at the FANATEC’s own Forum in regards to all the issues they have and their terrible customer service.
I have one word to the question should you purchase FANATEC products? DONT.
I would have had the same amount of problems with a real race car..
On a lighter note Im very grateful FANATEC do not build motor vehicles
