Some in A, B and C should shpuls probably have been moved down a bracket just due to not quite being the best representations of armor evolutions for their digimon. But otherwise a great video. Really with Bandai would grab a few fans and youtubers like you to consult on design and story for any up coming series. Especially your and your team's input for designs. You guys don't really miss.

Honestly, it feels like they were originally planning on having the Digi-Eggs be used by all the kids, and since Davis is the gogglehead of the season, they designed his first, before scrapping the idea entirely.
Veemon and Shoutmon are both good foundations made to be built upon. When designing toys based around the digieggs I wouldn't be surprised if they used Veemon as reference since he's both the poster boy of that season and basic in design the way they made all the toys for Digimon Xros first before they made a show. That's my theory anyway.
Here's my little amour conspiracy theory that I'm surprised no one has brought up. I think it's likely that some of the non-anime armoured mons like Mambomon, Togemorumon, Thunderbirdmon, etc, were originally rejected designs that were repurposed. It might explain why they're so inconsistent with either the Digimon they evolve from or the Digi-egg/Digimental they're associated with.
Might also have been that they were designed for the purpose, but weren't finished in time before they gave up the push on Armor digimon and switched to Jogress.
It's weird how Patamon should be so easy to design to (just make the body underneath the armor orange and the wing ears show), but it has some of the worst or most nonsensical armor evolutions. I'm really waiting for the next armor fixing videos, they are what brought me to the channel in the first place!
So I've had this thought for a while, but I feel like a lot of people judge Armors based on Veemon's patterns, and kind of assume all Armors follow it because Halsemon and Digmon SEEM to as well. It doesn't help that Pegasusmon and Nefertimon copy it wholesale. What I'm getting at is (and this is in reference to the show, not all Armors) Veemon wears the eggs as actual Armor. This can also been seen with Paildramon who is ExVeemon wearing Stingmon as armor, but Hawkmon seems to have a very organic, physical transformation with little armor involved, hence why Halsemon only has the helmet, Shurimon is unrecognizable, and Silphymon is a perfect blend of the elements of Aquilamon and Gatomon. Then Armadillomon is JUST armor, with almost no elements of him being shown through apart from the ears and eyes, which can also be seen in Shakkoumon where its Ankylomon wrapped entirely in armor motifed from Angemon. All of the themes seen in the show's Armors are then evolved when we get to the DNAs, which is why it always sits a little weird with me when Hawkmon gets a little brunted in these discussions. That being said, I still really enjoy the re-imagining series as giving everyone Veemon's theme, as it's the most visually striking (and the designs are great). Also, to throw a little what-if-ery in here, since Wormmon doesn't have an in-show theming, going off of Paildramon, I always thought it'd be cool if perhaps the DigiMentals became the Digimon, and Wormmon became the armor for them. Might explore that concept myself when my art skills improve a bit.

My favorite armor is Coatlmon because I love Aztec mythology. And with the release of Tlalocmon I hope we will see more Aztec based digimon in the future.

What I kind of love about Digimon evos is that it's great when alot of them make sense, but others just don't make any sense at all, and in my head I think that's just the digital world trying to make sense of data on the internet that we all know alot of it doesn't make sense at all. 😂
For sure! I think it's specifically Armors that set very clear rules in the show, it annoys me when Digimon creative is inconsistent with it more than anything, conventional Digivolution go crazy lol
My fav's are flarewizardmon (love the giant match sticks) and gargoylemon (very unique holy digimon design) Its crazy how armor digimon have so many amazing bug designs but I wish there were more lines that they could fit in. We need more bug digimon!
So, I like your opinions on this even if I don't fully agree with it. I think the one thing you kinda over looked is that there are 2 themes for Hope the way Friendship has 3 themes going on for it (Spikes/Thunder/Ice). For Hope you have "constellations, or ungulates." That is to say, hoofed animals. If you keep that in mind instead, Moosemon fits perfectly. I agree completely though the Kindness Armor evolutions are so bizarre and don't even have a consistency to themselves beyond "cute." I also agree that Allomon is good, and Hawkmon-coded but it's not an armor Digimon. I also think swapping Rhinomon & Elephantmon they would fit much better. This also made me realize how bad all of Armadillomon's armor evolutions are. They're just kinda bad all around.

Veemon really got the best armor forms and Patamon got the worst armor forms. Pegasmon and Nefertimon are perfect pair, Mantaraymon and Tylomon are perfect pair, but Manbomon and Goatmon, as a pair, are so... weird. I have a little theory - Armadimon and Patamon got screwed up in light armor evolution because they are jogress partners. I really like armor digimon, but I don't like their treatment in franchise, namely anime and manga - they often used as minor villain who everyone will forget for five minutes. And, they weren't used in Tri, Kizuna and Beginning.
If not Hawkmon, I'd argue that Thunderbirdmon would be a good friendship digivolution for other rookie-tier bird Digimon such as Biyomon or especially Falcomon.
Also, I'm still put off by the fact that Sethmon doesn't look like he can fly. Even Pipismon, for how little he resembles an armor digivolution, can still fly.
Sethmon is also really cool as a kind of anti Holsamon. Since in Egyptian Mythology Set and Horus the inspiration for the two Digimon are arch nemesis to each other. Uncle and Nephew rivalry. Think Scar and Simba from the Lion King.
Great video man. I think Raidramon and Magnamon(both forms) are my favorite Armor digimon. I will point out in the Digimon: Digital Card Battle game Raidramon is a Darkness Digimon, while Magnamon is Fire.
Completely agree sepicmon is a horrible armor but i really love him as a Digimon. To be fair I love monkeys and boomerangs so putting them together is fantastic to melol
The reason i dislike every courage armor with exception of flamedramon,shadramon,and allomon is because themeing dragons or dinosaurs and fire yet armadillo becomes a fucking boar and the other courage armor just don’t satisfy me but i don’t what to change them because creature design is good but limited also really good vid keep up the great work
The connection for Armadillomon and Seahomon is real sea horses are incredibly armored, they are like 80% bone and armor with just barely enough meat for them to move.
It's always weird how because we already had 2 vaguely holy digimentals, we then have Miracles and Destiny being more vaguely metal/machine themed (machine itself being a theme in Armadillomon armors possibly building off him already having a shell). Its a shame how many armors work well but somehow have their additions not matching the colors.

For a wormon Evo, I think Archellomon works well in concept. A big with an exoskeleton becoming an aquatic Shelled creature works pretty well, plus the antenna. I think the colors are a bit…messy. The pink green and grey all fight for attention, and the pink could’ve been swapped for orange or a lighter grey maybe.
It frustrates me that some Evolutions would work *perfectly* if they had assigned them to others, Togemogumon NOT being Armadillomon+Friendship is a travesty, they both have shells, both are stocky quadrupeds AND THEY EVEN HAVE THE SAME GOD DAMN HEAD MARKS. Someone at the 02 design team must have REALLY hated Armadillomon and Patamon, they got BY FAR the worst Armor Digivolutions, said hate being reinforced by looking at Shakkoumon.
@ 20:23 You can kinda see part of the Love Crest near the base of the Fin. Yeah, I’m kinda in the same boat. Mambamon is good, but not as a Patamon Evo. Plus, Davis and Kari are better for switching Digi-Eggs.
@@Karn_EX They're literally all ungulates though. Only two are specifically named after constellations. Three could be possibly considered constellation-themed, but at that point you might as well be calling everything that shares a theme with a constellation constellation-themed. Moosemon as you said in the video fits very flimsily into the constellation theme. But all six of them are based on ungulates, with the exception of maybe Sagitarimon which instead is based on a half-ungulate instead of a full ungulate.
They may all be ungulates but the theme of Pegasusmon is definitely constellations and Greek myth. From his design to his moveset. If some Hope Armors aren't that theme that doesn't mean the theme is ungulates, it means the clear theme of Pegasusmon was misinterpreted lol
Tbh a fun idea for a custom art video would be like a different take on existing digimon. Like what if owlmon was still an owl, but it wasn’t a crest of love digimon? What is searchmon was like a search and rescue digimon? What if rosemon was more of just a plant?
Tbh I’m very curious how many armor digimon were actually designed as armor digimon. The original 02 armors + shadramon, Sethmon, and Sagitarimon were clearly designed with the intent of being armors, in some form or another, but the rest just seem like standalone digimon. I’m very curious is they were actually intended to be armor digimon, or if they were just randomly picked armor evolutions when the pre evo needed a digivolution

Some of these I would have never thought were armor digivolutions, including toucanmon, who I encountered in a game as one. I for real thought they were a regular digimon shoehorned into armor since it wasn't made with Hawkmon's usual egg.😅
I think agree with a lot of of your ranking and I think some Of them should be Switched around like ThunderBirdmon should be Hawkmon with Friendship armour Stegomon should be Armadillomon’s Friendship Armour as they are both anicent Creatures Moosemon or Rinkmon should be Patamon with Friendship armour Chemeleonmon should be Wormmon with Sincerity armour Mambamon should be Reliability armour and I think Allomon could work as an Agumon Courge Armour.
I know custom art is pricy but we still are missing so much here. When you're able to, I'd love to see the resign project finally cover the Sincerity, Destiny, Hope, and Light
Hey Karn!! Some interesting video ideas for you. What if the Adventure 1 digimon received burst mode? What if the Adventure 1 mega digimon had beast/human forms? Like Seraphimon to Goldramon or Ophanimon to Magnadramon, etc...
Impmon should be able to armor into Fla Wizardmon since Wizardmon has since been made part of its line. It would also justify Nohemon a bit. Also I would either swap Elephamon and Rhinomon or have Armadillomon and Patamon be able to evolve into either of depending on whether they use the Digimental of Miracles or the Digimental of Fate.
I wish they would use more of the armour mon in the video games, I know digimon world 2003 used them a little bit but that’s really only because the game came out at around the airing of the 02 anime I just had no idea some of these were armour mon
I have a theory that elaphamon and rhinomon were swapped at some point. Elaphamon's flight ears and more white color scheme just feels more like a patamon with his wing ears and lighter underside. Rhinomon also feels tougher, more armored and more distinctly ground elemented and much more fitting for Armadillomon than patamon.
The real killer with Mambomon is they used a SUNfish with the digiarmor of light, and that’s what we got? I wouldn’t even mind if Patamon turned into a fish, though I’d probably go more the koi or beta route to preserve the angelic/feathery armor. But the fact that the light pun is right there and they gave us a “reliability armor at home” is so disappointing.
So I already forgot the name and am to lazy to go back lol but, the bat patamon with the love armor could be a reference to the saying "love is blind". Just a theory. A FILM THEORY! (Alright I'll leave) good video man!
27:43 I can see Armadillomon's shell in the chest, but I think it would be better if all the armour was gold and it was Armadillomon with the Digi-egg of Destiny.
As someone whose participation in the franchise is entirely informed by the anime, Armor Digivolutions looking not so intrinsically tied to the Egg or even the user will always be weird to me. Especially those that are Digivolutions achieved through other methods by Armor Digimon. But frankly maybe everything was backed into a corner by believing that Armor DigiEggs themselves have a single static form resembling the 02 Partner Digimon’s forms achieved through the eggs instead of fluid reactions to whoever they’re linked to. I would put in A since its an ARMOR ranking tier list and magnamon-X fits the quota ... Magnamon Gold digizoid thing there.... is that an XVeemon from X-Wars that learned how to turn into Gold after seeing Shoutmon evolves and then it armr digivolves into this magnamon?... I can let it be AN SS TIER! THE MIRACLE DIGI EGG IS CHUNKY AND THIS DESIGN IS CHUNKY AS WELL!
I'm kind of curious how digimon would handle making X antibody forms for something like Mambomon or Pucchimon. Be an interesting challenge if BandaiNamco decides to revisit the X antibody gimmick on a larger scale again in the future.
The armors are always gonna be this strange idea that feels fleshed out but never fleshed out enough. I don't have strong opinions on them I like how goofy to cool to cute they can look. But the armor that's always held my interest has been Gargoylemon mostly due to it's resemblance to another Digimon Devidramon. It looks as if Veemon attempted to Dark Digivolve into Devidramon (in a Similar Vein to Greymon evolving into Skullgreymon) but was interrupted by the Digi-Egg of Light, restrained by it's holy power, and turned into Gargoylemon instead. Like maybe instead of Agumon getting that Dark Ring Veemon got it. It's just interesting to me that of all the Armor Evolutions Gargoylemon has a direct design parallel (Good and Evil) with a non-armor Digimon.
I want to see something different Is Wizarmon I believe in all the digimon he can use all the Cress and Armors? I will say it would be great for a show?? Please talk about it I would love to hear your opinion??
If I'm not mistaken, Moosemon is actually used a Friendship armor for something on the Gaomon tree in Data Squad. I think from Gabumon, but it's been a while so I'm not 100%

You keep mentioning about the divining resembling the digiegg, but I suspect that the design process was the reverse, that they designed the eggs to match the digimon they were to be in the show. That would rather neatly explain why most of these don't really match the egg.
Also(apologies for the multiposting, I'm reacting in real time while I watch, I'm not too bothered that the digivolutions don't match the digimon they come from, because, with Digimon, its really only the Partner Digimon or majorly important ones that have a single coherent line that makes sense. Remember, in lore, any digimon can theoretically digivolve into anything else.
Magnamon is S. I have spoken. PS: The whole Golden Digimental situation made me think that, among all the nobody Digimon, if canon Deltamon had never existed, Rapidmon Gold could have taken that title.

The connection for Armadillomon and Seahomon is real sea horses are incredibly armored, they are like 80% bone and armor with just barely enough meat for them to move.

It's always weird how because we already had 2 vaguely holy digimentals, we then have Miracles and Destiny being more vaguely metal/machine themed (machine itself being a theme in Armadillomon armors possibly building off him already having a shell). Its a shame how many armors work well but somehow have their additions not matching the colors.

For a wormon Evo, I think Archellomon works well in concept. A big with an exoskeleton becoming an aquatic Shelled creature works pretty well, plus the antenna. I think the colors are a bit…messy. The pink green and grey all fight for attention, and the pink could’ve been swapped for orange or a lighter grey maybe.
It frustrates me that some Evolutions would work *perfectly* if they had assigned them to others, Togemogumon NOT being Armadillomon+Friendship is a travesty, they both have shells, both are stocky quadrupeds AND THEY EVEN HAVE THE SAME GOD DAMN HEAD MARKS.
Someone at the 02 design team must have REALLY hated Armadillomon and Patamon, they got BY FAR the worst Armor Digivolutions, said hate being reinforced by looking at Shakkoumon.

@@Karn_EX They're literally all ungulates though. Only two are specifically named after constellations. Three could be possibly considered constellation-themed, but at that point you might as well be calling everything that shares a theme with a constellation constellation-themed. Moosemon as you said in the video fits very flimsily into the constellation theme. But all six of them are based on ungulates, with the exception of maybe Sagitarimon which instead is based on a half-ungulate instead of a full ungulate.
They may all be ungulates but the theme of Pegasusmon is definitely constellations and Greek myth. From his design to his moveset. If some Hope Armors aren't that theme that doesn't mean the theme is ungulates, it means the clear theme of Pegasusmon was misinterpreted lol

Tbh a fun idea for a custom art video would be like a different take on existing digimon. Like what if owlmon was still an owl, but it wasn’t a crest of love digimon? What is searchmon was like a search and rescue digimon? What if rosemon was more of just a plant?

Tbh I’m very curious how many armor digimon were actually designed as armor digimon. The original 02 armors + shadramon, Sethmon, and Sagitarimon were clearly designed with the intent of being armors, in some form or another, but the rest just seem like standalone digimon. I’m very curious is they were actually intended to be armor digimon, or if they were just randomly picked armor evolutions when the pre evo needed a digivolution

Some of these I would have never thought were armor digivolutions, including toucanmon, who I encountered in a game as one. I for real thought they were a regular digimon shoehorned into armor since it wasn't made with Hawkmon's usual egg.😅
I personally see Nohemon as more of a Falcomon armor. I know that wasn't the original intent but it's so good.

I think agree with a lot of of your ranking and I think some Of them should be Switched around like ThunderBirdmon should be Hawkmon with Friendship armour Stegomon should be Armadillomon’s Friendship Armour as they are both anicent Creatures Moosemon or Rinkmon should be Patamon with Friendship armour Chemeleonmon should be Wormmon with Sincerity armour Mambamon should be Reliability armour and I think Allomon could work as an Agumon Courge Armour.
I know custom art is pricy but we still are missing so much here. When you're able to, I'd love to see the resign project finally cover the Sincerity, Destiny, Hope, and Light
Hey Karn!! Some interesting video ideas for you. What if the Adventure 1 digimon received burst mode? What if the Adventure 1 mega digimon had beast/human forms? Like Seraphimon to Goldramon or Ophanimon to Magnadramon, etc...
Impmon should be able to armor into Fla Wizardmon since Wizardmon has since been made part of its line. It would also justify Nohemon a bit.
Also I would either swap Elephamon and Rhinomon or have Armadillomon and Patamon be able to evolve into either of depending on whether they use the Digimental of Miracles or the Digimental of Fate.
I wish they would use more of the armour mon in the video games, I know digimon world 2003 used them a little bit but that’s really only because the game came out at around the airing of the 02 anime I just had no idea some of these were armour mon
There's a whole video idea where you shuffle around the armors to move them to more appropriate crests & base digimon in here somewhere...
I have a theory that elaphamon and rhinomon were swapped at some point. Elaphamon's flight ears and more white color scheme just feels more like a patamon with his wing ears and lighter underside. Rhinomon also feels tougher, more armored and more distinctly ground elemented and much more fitting for Armadillomon than patamon.
The real killer with Mambomon is they used a SUNfish with the digiarmor of light, and that’s what we got? I wouldn’t even mind if Patamon turned into a fish, though I’d probably go more the koi or beta route to preserve the angelic/feathery armor. But the fact that the light pun is right there and they gave us a “reliability armor at home” is so disappointing.
So I already forgot the name and am to lazy to go back lol but, the bat patamon with the love armor could be a reference to the saying "love is blind". Just a theory. A FILM THEORY! (Alright I'll leave) good video man!

As someone whose participation in the franchise is entirely informed by the anime, Armor Digivolutions looking not so intrinsically tied to the Egg or even the user will always be weird to me. Especially those that are Digivolutions achieved through other methods by Armor Digimon. But frankly maybe everything was backed into a corner by believing that Armor DigiEggs themselves have a single static form resembling the 02 Partner Digimon’s forms achieved through the eggs instead of fluid reactions to whoever they’re linked to. Like liquid mercury

I'm kind of curious how digimon would handle making X antibody forms for something like Mambomon or Pucchimon. Be an interesting challenge if BandaiNamco decides to revisit the X antibody gimmick on a larger scale again in the future.

The armors are always gonna be this strange idea that feels fleshed out but never fleshed out enough. I don't have strong opinions on them I like how goofy to cool to cute they can look. But the armor that's always held my interest has been Gargoylemon mostly due to it's resemblance to another Digimon Devidramon. It looks as if Veemon attempted to Dark Digivolve into Devidramon (in a Similar Vein to Greymon evolving into Skullgreymon) but was interrupted by the Digi-Egg of Light, restrained by it's holy power, and turned into Gargoylemon instead.
Like maybe instead of Agumon getting that Dark Ring Veemon got it. It's just interesting to me that of all the Armor Evolutions Gargoylemon has a direct design parallel (Good and Evil) with a non-armor Digimon.
I want to see something different Is Wizarmon I believe in all the digimon he can use all the Cress and Armors? I will say it would be great for a show?? Please talk about it I would love to hear your opinion??
If I'm not mistaken, Moosemon is actually used a Friendship armor for something on the Gaomon tree in Data Squad. I think from Gabumon, but it's been a while so I'm not 100%

I love magna x. It’s like Magnamon digivolved into a more powerful, stockier, bulkier, more badass version. Magnamon feels a bit weaker in comparison.

You keep mentioning about the divining resembling the digiegg, but I suspect that the design process was the reverse, that they designed the eggs to match the digimon they were to be in the show. That would rather neatly explain why most of these don't really match the egg.
I think the digimon tend to focus more on the theme of the egg rather than the design.
Also(apologies for the multiposting, I'm reacting in real time while I watch, I'm not too bothered that the digivolutions don't match the digimon they come from, because, with Digimon, its really only the Partner Digimon or majorly important ones that have a single coherent line that makes sense. Remember, in lore, any digimon can theoretically digivolve into anything else.
