    Public Service Announcement: Ensure the switch cable going to the ring has the connector release tab facing the center of the hub. Reversed wil cause the horn to sound when reconnecting the battery negative. Ask me how I know!

      @@LessThree hey so I think he means the ground wire, look at the video and see where it’s placed again, place the ground on top of the plastic, not behind it where it touches the metal. Same thing happened to me.

    Great info on this video. I have a '98 and wasn't able to remove the steering wheel; however, was able to pull the plastic back and carefully run the wires. In all, it was a little more challenging but can be done without the wheel removed. For the money, this is a very worthwhile repair. Thank you for the great Ranger content.

    So, I followed these instructions, and everything works well. However, when I reconnect my battery, the horn will not stop honking! I’ve removed the horn relay fuse, so it’s not honking now, but I don’t know what I’ve done wrong to make this happen. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks!

    I have a 1997 Ford Explorer. That seems to be the cut off year because everything starts from 98 and above category for most instructional videos and parts for the vehicle. Just installed the Cruise control switches on my 97 explorer and the cruse control does not engage. Where is the best place to start looking for the problem. The switches I purchased were tested to be good before the sale.

    I could not get the steering wheel to budge even after I bought a puller. I ended up clipping the old wire ribbons. Then I was able to fish the new wires through by bending back the plastic behind the wheel. They mostly went where they were supposed to. But its all hidden anyways. Got the buttons for $18 new off of ebay

    Why is it on some videos they disconnect the positive side of battery terminal (here negative). Which method is correct for safety reasons?

    • @mitchtalmadge
      @mitchtalmadge 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should always remove negative first. Pretty much the only reason on most cars with one battery is that if your tool slips while disconnecting the positive first, you risk contacting the metal part of the car, which is grounded, with the metal tool and the positive terminal, causing a short circuit. This can't happen when removing the negative first.

    • @gthomas3849

      You need to use a two jawed puller and put each jaw under where it reads "PULL" on the steering wheel. 1A Auto cheated, they loosened the wheel prior to filming the video. If you watch closely you will see the wheel move when touched.

    Hey 1A Auto Parts
    I really love your video i have to replace one of my Cruise Control Switches the right side one broking . Nevertheless i have a question that i think you might be able to answer for me .
    i have a 1999 Mazda B3000 SE 4x4 that i have had since day one it has 190000 miles on it but it has a crack in the block. The crack is in the water tank area;... but its not leaking into the oil tank ... the truck starts up fine but runs hot after a couple mins of driving.
    My question to you is i been looking around for a motor at a couple places; i been told so many thing i am confused
    1.) i seen one motor in a truck at a junk yard and it had the same motor as the truck you working on in the video doing Cruise Control Switches. how i can tell that is the same truck is because of the spider like break lines to the right of the body; but was i was told that ... that motor wont work in my Mazda. (Can you confirm) that for me
    2.) i also seen a guy with a Mazda same year as my 1999 but he had a 4.0 motor in his Mazda he stated that he brought it that way. i called Ford and even Mazda about this and Ford stated that they couldnt help me because its a Mazda and likewise for Mazda but they both said bring it in and they can help me with it ...who to say my pocket ready for that but they both also stated that B3000 model is DISCONTINUED .... and that there not much in there system that they so with all this being said i am reaching out to you because i am so confused ... either the Ford motor 3.0 or 4.0 works or it don't

    At first I thought this video was great. Until I came to the part of removing the steering wheel. Like so many others have experienced, it won't come off. Certainly not with some wacks on the back of it like he said if you don't have a puller. Actually the mfr says to not use a hammer...a safety issue. I tried using an old harmonic balancer puller to no avail. Obviously the removal was pre lossened and staged. And that... makes this video practically worthless when you can't get the steering wheel removed
