While I appreciate the tutorial, I just wanted to let all the commenters know that I was able to successfully change the switch out without taking any of the dash panels apart. I only took apart the two clam shells on the steering column. The bottom came off pretty easy, but the top required a lot finagling to get it off. Now, I have a stick shift, so no shifter on the column, so that might make a difference. Plus I don't have a steering wheel angle adjuster. And just to be clear, I have a 1998 Mazda B2500 which is basically a Ford Ranger with the Mazda branding on it.
Thanks for the video, but I agree with some other posters here. This video makes it look more complicated than it is. All you have to remove are the 3 screws in the clamshell around the steering wheel and then remove the clam shells. The top one is a little tricky but really not too difficult. After that, its just the two screws on the switch and the wiring plugs. I did it on a 2010 Ranger with the tilt wheel lever, so I also had to unscrew that lever.
@@StonedSpagooter depends on if your model has the steering wheel tilt adjustment. If it does, just tilt it all the way down, unscrew the tilt adjustment lever, and then you can get the clamshell off. If not, you will need to take everything apart like in this video
The clam shell comes off without ripping the whole dash apart. Also not supposed to pull on the wires to get clips out. 🤦♂️ I’m diy and know that much

Definitely not required for my '98 Ford Explorer... Only 3 screws to remove on the bottom portion of the steering column cover.

Maybe it’s different for this year or model but on my 03 ranger you just have to take off the 2 pieces on the steering column
What is your model? I have an 04 3.0 Edge and hoping its that easy as well

You do not need to remove anything but the cowl around the steering column.
He has the knowledge but also doing some damage. Otherwise, it's a good tutorial.
