INSTALLATION & REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:
- STEP-1: Avoid static discharge by grounding yourself using a wrist grounding strap or by touching a bare metal surface like a connector on the back of the laptop and remove all the power including the battery and power adapter.

Wish you'd show how to get to the CMOS battery
(no't the fan noise ) i have the same lab here but my proplem when i plug the charger some noise neer the fan came up but when i remove the charger and stand on battery there where no noise
I have dell inspirton 15R Core i3, When the power button is pressed it lights up the power indicator first with full light and other three indicates with dim light, also heard a sound of hard drive and fan for a 3 secs and then shutdown, Its takes 5 to 10 attempts to turn on my laptop, Any ideas? Thanks!
It might be a power or charging issue. The DC jack might be damaged causing the adapter to not charge the battery or something like that. It could also be a motherboard failure. If the GPU overheated it would cause the same problem. You will probably need to take it to a repair shop to have it diagnosed.
Hello, i have a problem, when i reassembled my laptop after cleaning the cooling system, there is no sound at all when i turn it on and even if i played a song or a vid only when i connect my wired headphone. Please help

Best video on this laptop disassembly. I have a problem man if you can help, i was running windows 10 perfectly then suddenly it started to freeze for some minutes then unfreeze and so on. I opened up the resources monitor to see what happens when this starts and noticed that disk usage spikes to 100% when this happensm. I checked the smart data and the hdd was fine but i decided to get SSD anyway and replace the hdd but same problem exists. Now it even gives me blue screen minutes after fresh installations and then windows fails to load up again. I have run dell diagnostics at startup and everything is ok. I have tested the RAM with memtest86 for hours and no errors. I am running now linux on the same hardware and it works fine. The problem only happens with windows. I use the official iso from Microsoft site and it was updated regularly. Any idea what is going on?
I have this computer. When I turn it on it starts to clear the dvd drive in the boot up mode and then either shuts down or remains running and does nothing else. Also the battery charging light is not on at all even though it is charging the battery. Could this be a bad motherboard?

I there, I'm guessing I have a motherboard problem!! the other day I decided to clean my keypad so I sprayed a small amount of cleaning detergent onto a dry sponge and proceeded to clean starting with the screen and then the top part of the laptop which includes the on/off switch, what I didn't realise at the time was when I was cleaning in and around the on/off switch I inadvertently switched the computer on, I then started to clean the keypad which meant I was pressing maulty buttons while the computer was trying to start up, I realised what I had done when the screen lit up, it showed a screen that I'd never seen before, I instantly pressed the on/off button and shut the laptop down, I then continued my cleaning and whipped everything off with a dry cloth, after a few minutes I attempted to start the laptop but there was nothing, it was completely dead I did get the odd light but no fan or computer light, I have since completely stripped the laptop down and thoroughly cleaned and inspected throughout, I now have the first light lit and the third light flashing white and orange there are no beeps or any sounds from the laptop, there is no way to stop the lights without removing the battery......... I just thought I'd ask if there was anything else I might try???
D Cox This would be hard for me to figure out without having the laptop. Does the hard drive start to spin or try to spin at all? Have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor or pressed F8 (or maybe Fn+F8) to see if the screen has been manually turned off? You said the optical drive light was turning on? Is the optical drive spinning at all?
Parts-People.Com, Inc Hi there thanks for your reply, The latest to date is I removed the mother board and cleaned and inspected the laptop many times and each time I put it back together I had the same result as above...... However the last time I took the motherboard out I removed the backup battery which must have done something to the memory in the motherboard because when I reassembled everything the computer fired up as normal [well almost] so I then went to Dell support and updated all the drivers, my problem now is my laptop won't charge the battery I bought a replacement and it won't charge that either so I'm sending it back, all Dell say is it's a faulty battery and I have to replace it, but I know it's not that, I can't update the BIOS files because it asks for the charger and battery to be plugged in and working before it'll update, and as the laptop won't recognise the battery I cant continue with the upgrade, so I don't know what to do next someone said there is a hidden fuse on the motherboard which may have blown and it's that that's causing my problems!!!
P.S sorry for the delay in replying it won't happen again!!!

Hi, recently my Dell Inspiron has trouble starting up and giving me the continuous beep. If it does start up completely it can run normally and for long periods of time. I even played games and edited video. My only problem is when it has to turn on when it's been turned off :(

I have dell inspiron 15r. I am also facing black screen of dead and a continues beeaping sound. No display when press power button but have a beeping sounds. But I haven't gave up on it. tried with 10s press removing battery. Still problem exists!. then did power on and off for 10 times and then it comes with dell logo and boots !!
but Now it's completely won't turning on and giving beep sounds.
What could be the problem?? any suggestions?

+Nada nem ninguém! The first display cable you see at 2:49 is for touchscreens. If you don't have a touchscreen, you will not have that cable.

While opening up my dell, i noticed that all metal components to the right of power button appeared to be copper-brown in color, not like the ones you see in this video. Should I be worried??
Soumya Gayen They might have dirt or dust on them, or maybe something spilled on the laptop. You can remove all power and try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol, if you want, but, if the laptop is working, I would worry about it.

Soumya Gayen It's possible. Can you tell exactly which components look burnt? So I can have a better idea of the location. Is it on the motherboard or the palmrest or under the keyboard?
Parts-People.Com, Inc It's the metallic region which starts from the dc jack upto the cdrom casing. Almost near the laptop hinges.
Soumya Gayen Ok, so it's part of the laptop bottom base. That could just be a coloration difference from factory where the casing was manufactured. I've seen them in lighter and darker shades and because it's not part of the motherboard, it wouldn't be something I would worry about.

You can replace the RAM but you cannot replace the graphics card. The graphics card is built onto the motherboard.
can i get help here plz ? i got a new motherboard and when i went to the service tag page in da blue screen i entred it and got 4 models to pick from of dell laptops 4th generation the problem was that my old motherboard 3rd generation of dell 3521 wasn't included in these 4 models(5537/3537/5737/3737) i had to pick from therefore im having problem in updating my bios so what should i do ? should i just pick randomly any model from these 4 ? i checked that all these i5 4th gene (yea i used to have i5 on my 3rd) they all appear to have same i5 model number too which is 4200 U , sorry for the trouble and thanks in advance

Hey!, I have a Dell Inspiron 15r 5537 with Intel i5 4200u, I was wondering if I could upgrade to CPU to i7 4500u, is it possible to change the laptops CPU to that? Or is it soldered?
The CPU is integrated onto the motherboard so it cannot be upgraded.

Yes. There is an i7 configuration of this motherboard that you can replace with your current one.
I have a new laptop referenced above. What hardware component would most likely fail if the pc got a bit of water on it? I turned it on, it started loading, but then completely crashed. I should have let the thing dry before turning on. What can I look for to tell what is actually wrong with with component? I am pretty good at fixing my own stuff, well maybe that's going a bit far, but I try. LOL Any help would more than greatly appreciated!! HAGD
It's really hard to say when it comes to water damage but usually it will be motherboard or motherboard related. Does the laptop turn on at all? Do lights flash or turn on at all? Does it beep? Did you see smoke when you turned it on the last time?
I am sorry about that. Dell Inspiron 5 R model #5537. I should not have turned it on until it was dry. It started up then completely crashed. No lights or noises of any kind now. I think the cpu/MB is fried. Can that be replaced? If so, how much does the component cost. I can install myself. It it too much I will have to buy another laptop.

It sounds like you will probably have to replace the motherboard (the CPU is built onto the MB and cannot be replaced). That would be the first place to start anyway. You may have other components that are damaged also but you wont know until the motherboard is working. The 5537 has 6 different motherboards, that I've seen, with different CPU speeds. They range from $200 to about $300 dependent on the CPU.
If this is the route you choose, I would recommend purchasing from a company that has a good return policy just in case the motherboard isn't the only problem. If other components are necessary, the cost could increase by another $50 to $100+. That might be reaching the point of buying another laptop so, being about to return parts with a minimal restocking fee would be a good choice financially.

It probably overheated and is no longer working. If that is what happened, you will have to replace the motherboard.

I do not see any M.2 compatibility for this model.
It appears to only support 2.5'' SATA SSD storage.
