Marss taking light and tweek's place in their own podcasts back to back is hilarious
What is he a substitute teacher? 😂
content creator > "pro" player
Next he’s gonna take leos spot on goat talks lmao
@@hecty8667the return of Marss’ Goat joke
My man marss has just been collabing with everyone recently, love to see it.
I’d be so down for a Marss podcast he’s got such a good personality for it. Marss Malds
Marss mashes
@@JKBeta1021that’s just his normal TH-cam channel tho 👀
I remember someone saying Life on Marss and I was like on my god he needs to use this name somehow someway
Marss Mesmerizes
throw Muteace in there for M&M or some shit lol
marss slowly taking over the podcast universe and I'm all for it
Marsscast cinematic universe
Up a stock, you know the vibes! Congrats to Sonix for winning Port Priority 8, a dominant performance as expected from him. Great to see Marss Mumbles return. Also shoutouts to Kaninabe for being easily my favourite player to watch in that tourney! Them eye drops go foolish 😂
While I'll miss Tweek this week (and hope it won't be a reoccurring pattern of Tweek doing not great at a tournament and missing the next podcast, we've had this twice so far), Marss is a great substitute. Always fun to hear his opinion about the game
3 is the minimum for patterns
Sonix had Acola running around in survival mode
Steve can't run, he power walks.
Steve double jump hurtbox shifting is so busted
Gavinor Tweek is WASHED. He missed ANOTHER top four on the pod. You can argue that he has over 120 consistent placements but I think that the Freshest Pink, the most Dangerous Haz, and the Shilling Chuck are catching up. You can even throw in the Clipiest Marss (but he kina sux). I think the next pod decides who is the best if there are no upsets.
Marss is the new best in the world
And shoutouts to HazMatt bringing always that positive energy and enthusiasm about the game, being the moderator of the podcast, real strength moving it forward. Love the positive energy
Bro I cannot believe how lukewarm the pod’s reaction to Mute vs Umeki was…
That was the hypest set of the tournament! Especially with the live crowd mic, the energy was electric
Tweek, you look a little different today.
Tweek transforms
"Leo's done dude, he's filling out a job application" 😂😂😂
Leo owns two businesses in Mexico and close to a million in career earnings.
@@austinroccaro2219damn wtf
@@austinroccaro2219$306k is some gravy. Not quite a mil but still insane lol
I REALLY wanted proto to be there at watch the throne
Miya played insane this tournament. Dropped zero games until winners finals. That's crazy. Really curious to see how WTT will play out now that the Top 4 of Port Priority 8 will be there.
The more he plays the more broken GNW appears which is credit to both Miya and the character itself. It’s interesting that both Miya and aCola have recently really only looked mortal in games with NA players (Sparg0 and Sonix primarily), so I’m curious to see if they adapt at all to beat them (obviously Miya took a set and went 7-5 in games kverall so not bad)
@@wollins7244Miya WILL come back and play twice as good against Sonix as he did at PP. I have yet to see a player adapt more impressively in smash. The question is just if Sonix will be ready for it. Which I’m not so sure about because to me he’s a tryhard nerd who’s optimized his character but so has Miya but Miya has a ton of creative swag whereas Sonix has a bare minimum.
@@AndreasSaag lmao dude didnt watch the final set if you say sonix has the bare minimum
@@Jonas-jx3kwSonix is the greatest adapter in the game lol
I was deadass in the middle of trying to properly lab out footstool gun loops on spacies while listening to this podcast and the explainer charles gave for what leo was doing wrong helped me fix my issue, very appreciated since it's been hard finding online resources
Tweek Keeps Quiet
Another Tweekless Talk😔
A Marss podcast would go crazy
Marss hit us with the Xtreme mix up. Not even he knew what button was being pressed
This was the perfect opportunity to title the video marss mumbles
Top three may be Acola, Miya, and Spargo, but none of them can take a stock from the god himself BeastModePaul.
I agree with charles regarding the sonic vs steve matchup, I agree with how he only has to break the bottom block to threaten steve and how steve is a “you play my game” character and sonic breaks that, but he’s not the only one. Min Min does the same thing vs steve. She also breaks tweek’s idea of “just let him mine”. Min min can legit deplete his materials and force him to not mine from a safe distance.
Fans have thought of Ultimate as a "believe in your character and you'll be rewarded" game for many years now, but the meta has been centering on a set of characters that require specific attributes and play styles to safely counteract. Feels like we're out of that naive early stage.
People are just so hesitant to admit that Steve loses matchups. They want to continue the lie that he’s completely unbeatable.
That’s not a shot at Sonix, by the way. He came prepared for the matchup, and outplayed Acola
@@mercurysnake274 We don't know if Steve loses matchups. Acola beats Ken all the time. You need a LOT of data to say someone loses the matchup. Acola was just unprepared for Sonix. Steves have to get better fundamentals, because when their Steve stuff doesn't work they crumble, or they have to learn to optimize their advantage state. They've quite literally done neither.
@@christianokoye9491 Most Sonic and Steve players agree that the matchup is in Sonic’s favor
@@mercurysnake274 Sonix himself says that it's even as of like... 3 days ago, and Steve players a few months ago were saying that Steve isn't the best character in the game, and below Pyra/Mythra. Sonic does better against Steve than most characters, and if Sonix is up a stock he just wins. Steve players are used to fighting characters with either no answers, or characters that have that answers, but lose HARD if they mess up once, so Steve players say any matchup that they even have to try in as losing, despite still winning most of the time. That's the best thing, Steves need to "Learn the Matchup", which is literally what they were saying nonstop when characters lost to them.
To be fair sonic is one of a couple characters that have a frame 2 air dodge, so its more accurate to say he has the best airdodge possible as opposed to his is the best, its debatable since his airdodge travels super far and could be considered better than others.
Excited to have Marss Malds
I feel marss. The top 3 players could potentially be a Steve, a Game & Watch and a Sonic. I wouldn't take this game seriously, either.
This tourney went so hard. Fr thought that NA, and EU we’re gonna really show tf up but Japan just said nah. I can’t WAIT for the world to just invade Japan next year on some training arc type shit
Umebura in January is gonna have a bunch of invaders! Gluto, Zomba, Ouch?!, AK and more are attending
EU sucks
But Haz, you need to use Rohto eye drops instead, they are unbelievably superior and you will move them
Marss should honestly host every top smashers podcast.
GOAT Talk is next lol
ugh
The dude who walked infront of Lima also stepped on all the wires like bro
Marss gotta send out that apology to light
This is my second favorite episode of Marss Makeshifts
Nobody talked about Tweek on the Tweek Talks podcast! maybe theyre just saving it for next week
marrs on light out and tweek talks
I need a Miya for Wolf PLEASE make my character look good
Marss is a treat to have in those podcast
Tyler Talks? 😨
Capitancito has multiple relatively recent wins over Sonix, with Mii Gunner.
Mii Gunner can make Sonic play their game to a degree. The sets between Sonix and Capitancito were pretty much all very close. Sonix probs has more wins but still. Mii Gunners stocks potentially going up if Sonix establishes himself as the best
And Capitancito is probs celebrating because I think he destroys all sonic players cept Sonix. Ken might give him a run for his money but still think Capitan takes it unless he chokes due to pressure.
Sucks that Tweek wasnt feeling it, hope he finds a good headspace soon! This tournament was probably the most stacked one ever and his placement was still good, but I get it since he has such high standards that he would feel discouraged
Still, Marss was a delight and always love hearing him talk about the game, he is really smart when it comes to smash. Sad he is not going to Genesis though
Usually people that boasts that they’ll beat a player usually ends up getting bodied, and those that don’t boast usually the ones that bodies the unstoppable players
Ok hear me out: rock paper scissors to decide the language you use when fighting hero
What a weird alternate universe lol 0:24
Took me 41 minutes to realize Tweek wasn’t in this.
Miya’s game and watch is so freaking scary. It felt like sonix fighting an uphill battle the whole time.
It would surprise me if Sonix has a chance next time they play but who knows…
nah in WF sonix beat him pretty convincingly
in GF reset i see your point but nah in the final set sonix was taking 2 stocks quickly at the start then miya was bringing it back
Tweek not talking 😤 great to have Marss though
No proto?! NOOOOOOO
who was pink talkin about towards the end of the pod? Who walked in front of who?
the intro threw me tf off lol
The biggest thing about this tournament. I thought. Was how incredibly non debatable the argument of Japan not being the number 1 region is now. 5/8 players in top 8 on Na home turf. There were some players from other regions not present sure. like bloom or some more Canadian players. But also Japan definitely had significantly deeper pockets. That didn't get shown here. Zakary and yoshidora both weren't here for example. Now they're definitely semented in that spot and the results of this tourney will probably make that way in the rankings too next year. After this getting ranked high might actually be super hard without going to Japan
Perhaps someone can clarify this for me. I really don’t understand the gripe Marcus is talking about at 58:13. I don’t understand what situation he is referring to specifically at port 8 and I also don’t understand it generally speaking. What does he mean by “don’t walk infront of the person your friend just beat” maybe the statement is too vague lol, but I don’t understand what’s so disrespectful about that?
Such a bummer Ken qualified
you know the vibes
The Marss intro threw me off so much but I loved it
Marss not going to Genesis is the worst news possible
That threw me off. No tweek??
He's still salty xD
oh hell nah, we got marss mumbles 😂
Yo new episode of marss mumbles!
marss is the finest man alive like wow
In sets where aCola can’t just mash Steve options (Sparg0 and Sonix) he looks very mortal… Miya seems to adapt much better in “losing” matchups compared to him tbh
Exactly, to me acola just looks like he does basic steve stuff. Nothing complex he just knows how to hit the cheese better i guess
AK MENTIONED let's goooo. Lost to 3rd and 7th to get 25th.
Marss Talks Out
"Light grabbing the camera like a street fighter character"
xD So truuue ! omg x')
tweek lookin’ a little different
1:03:09 Marss and pink look so dead 😂
Marss is still secretly #1 he's just sandbagging
KEN beating Sparg0 isnt that unbelievable. Of their previous four sets, only the most recent (1-3) wasn't 2-3. If two players usually go to Game 5, it's entirely reasonable for the perpetual loser to eventually beat the winner.
I think Leo goes Marth for Riddles because it gets him off Kazuya. That and honestly his Marth does well against his characters. He has outplay hard especially against FGC bs, but he clearly has confidence he can pull it off.
from a competetiv standpoint i get the storylines and matches... From a viewers standpoint it really sucks to have a meta dominated by sonic, steve and g&w, the 3 characters with the most broken defense game.
🐐
I could see Tweek becoming just a semi-regular guest on this podcast in the next few months. Not sure he enjoys it
It’s certainly easier to have breaks from the podcast when you no longer have to worry about breaking an attendance streak. 😅
It's so funny cuz everyone keeps talking about how hype the dittos are but yall hating on it smh
49:05 thats cuz he dropped him lmao. It was a phase for him
YOOOOOOOO
marss mumbles
Damn, rip proto but LFG TARIK!!
Peach dittos are "wack" Bro, you are wack. That set was amazing with all the tech and combos, maybe will never seen the two best peach players fighting again.
No tweek? Looks like its just Talk this week boys
why does Marcus refer to MuteAce as “they” lmao
They say Marss owes Light an apology, for what?
What's going On everyone
@58:50 Anyone know who did this ??
It was lima vs onin. Onin won and a few of their friends came over to hug/congratulate, and one of the dudes walked in front of lima. I saw the video on twitter. It's a funny video because u can see tweek in the background looking frustrated that lima lost lol
I’m just glad Steve wasn’t banned at port priority 8, made it feel like the competition was at its peak. #unbanSteve
Its almost like steve isnt banworthy
@@dingo9696 I agree!
For the beastmodepaul thing, it's actually harder for non english people to practice against hero because their game isn't in english, so they have to practice against the non-english menu and learn then the correspondence between their language and english.
Also, i don't think paul played hero against hurt
Paul did play Hero vs Hurt, no Sephiroth at all that set actually
As someone who doesn’t speak englisch natively i don’t really think its that hard to rreajust my brain to English spells but i also dont play at top level so that might make a difference
Marss is a quitter - light
36:09
Sonix does not think sonic beats steve btw
Should’ve handed Banham’s WtT spot to Umeki for the next placing at Port after Ken, not Tarik!!!
Whenever someone drops its the next runner up. If Banham would of dropped the day before and Umeki was there for any reason he probably has a chance like Skyjay did at the last Summit. U don't get to pick favorites, u go by the votes.
Dang bruh no Tweek again?
3 sonics in watch the throne if wrath gets in?
Why would Wrath get in?
@@armakeen3576 Still one more qualifier at Genesis Black. Idk if he's going but Sonix said something about trying to get him in on lights out.
As a Daisy main I'm very offended they keep calling her peach
Ken beating spargo isn’t that big of an upset, every time they play it’s super close
38:48 What is pink trying to say? I get that you'll have a slightly more difficult time trying to decipher english as a french speaker but that doesn't let you take BMP's credit away wtf 💀. Hell Hurt won against BMP.
EDIT - spoke too soon.
Imagine that! BMP biggest upsets were against players whose non-native language was English! Crazy, it’s almost like that’s been a criticism of hero since he was released that some players can’t read it! Hmmm probably just a coincidence!
@@luffymonkey7522 Did you read what I said? Hurt, a japanese player, 3-0'd BMP.
On the topic of Light vs Kaninabe, I feel like every region has a "thing"
Japanese players are very disciplined, they lab what to do under certain situations and their entire thing is to push towards that situation and do their thing, they're optimizers of flowcharts
Europe is super gutsy, they go for the wildest shit and with enough skill they will hit it
NA is very free flow, it's mostly based on understanding the game and the characters, knowing what works and what doesn't and act accordingly, very instinctive and very reactive.
Of course everyone tries to learn the limitations of their characters, their workflow and the confirms, but I truly feel like playstyle is very defined by regions, that being said, as usual with this idea, there's exceptions like Skyjay who preys on fear and conditioning or Dabuz who tries to play 5D chess, this happens in other regions as well, a good example being Tea's showmanship and shenanigans.
Marss da Goat
Marss is/will always be a top player 🤷♂️
Marss is always very entertaining while giving alot of insight on the game.
I really don’t think tweek should pick up a character for fox yet kaninabe had to make some crazy plays and get early cheese kills to take each game off tweek. I think if he started diddy against light and stuck with him it would’ve been different. I think it would be foolish for him to not stick it out with diddy against fox as things are rn.
Peach ditto? I must have missed it because I saw Daisy and Peach
Mfw Ken got in over umeki😐😐😐
second time tweek is just not mentioned at all throughout the pod when he is not here
We specifically mentioned how Kaninabe was clutch against him and how big that set was - he was mentioned but it feels off to discuss his results, on his own channel, without him. Plus his own POV is far superior to anything we could come up with so hopefully he wants to discuss it next week.
Ban Marss, bring back Tweek 🤬
