  • Licensed video games brought neat titles to the world of video game arcades. Full of classic tie-ins, some arcade games still excited modern gamers!
Before consoles became the norm, the best way to experience video games was by going to the local video game arcade. Their superior technology made them more powerful than consoles, and it was always possible to meet someone new who loved gaming too. Increasing video game arcades' popularity was the fact their biggest games were based on licensed properties.
The '80s and '90s were the era of the "tie-in," whether it was a cartoon, a comic book, or a video game. With infamously terrible titles such as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Atari 2600), Superman 64, Batman: Dark Tomorrow, and Aliens: Colonial Marines, it's not surprising that the term "licensed game" typically has a negative connotation within the gaming industry. Since many corporate executives have seen games as just another "toy" to generate revenue for a brand, developers often aren't given the time and money necessary to create a decent product.
While some licensed video games were known for being terrible, that wasn't always the case. Some licensed games were considered great not only for their time, but retained their position among some of the greatest arcade titles ever created. Whether for their spectacular graphics, for their soundtrack inherited directly from the movies, for expanding the lore of the big screen, or for maintaining a very faithful atmosphere to the licenses on which they are based and that dazzle the fans, there are arcade games based on films that deserve to be remembered for the times of the times. Get to know them!

⚠️ All gameplay recording, game curation and opinions included in this video, as well as editing is completely done by me
Bits & Beats creates videos about the history of video games. In this channel you'll find comparisons, retrospectives, technical analysis, but, mostly, game curations with the idea of having an important task of preserving video games, and make them relevant to society at large.
Curation isn't just about digging up neat games, but it's also about preservation, interpretation, and using one's knowledge to make it relevant to people. With my videos I want older gamers to look back and remember the influence of video games on their lives, and new gamers to understand the larger context of the series they're playing for the first time today.
I put significant time and creative effort into each one of my videos, including research, digging into archives, playing video games and recording hours of footage, selecting specific clips, writing reviews for each title, and making a very careful video editing in the way to transmit both educational and entertaining values to my audience. Every video takes a lot of hours to produce, because I strive to give my audience a consistent, high-quality content.
Fidelity and preservation of the video games is essential in Bits & Beats, so the recordings are made with the highest bitrate quality. It is done this way to preserve original game look and sound through modern footage, with no superfluous additions. I recommend you watch the video at 4K and 60 frames per second to get the best possible viewing experience.
I hope you enjoy my videos and find them useful!

The one game on here they really brings back memories of my childhood Corner Street Arcade I played many different types of video games but the one that stuck out the most from this video was Willow something about it reminded me of super goals and ghosts on Super Nintendo I got so good at it that I would be able to beat it with one life so you can say I cost me one quarter to beat the whole game I remember being 14 years old and having the willow arcade machine surrounded by people cheering me on my friends thank you for taking me back to my childhood you have a new subscriber keep up the good work
One more thing I'll never understand why they never reported Willow to the Super Nintendo they could have made an exact Port of the arcade it would have been awesome because Capcom made super ghouls and ghosts which I also was able to Master on Expert difficulty I was able to beat the game the right way beat it once and you have to beat it again to get the real ending on Expert I did all that why didn't they ever bring Willow to the Super Nintendo is my question
