When they recorded it for the album, Bonham is clicking his sticks throughout all the drop outs to try keep time (they lowered most of them in the mix), 18 month later Live he's taken it up another level. His musicality following JPJ & Page is astounding.
I was 11 years old in 1969 when I heard their first album starting with Communication Breakdown and I've been a fan ever since, I love your reaction thanks
One of my two favorites, the other is In My Time Of Dying, live at Earls Court. I prefer the one night over the other though, the video that’s 12 minutes & I believe 4 seconds long. The one Plants vocals are better, & the visuals aren’t damaged, like they are a little in the other.
Saw this tour in Dallas as a 15 year old. Had 6th row center. Before this, I had seen Beach Boys, Chicago, The Osmonds, (lol) and a few other bands…but had never seen a man like Robert Plant! OMG! He was beautiful. Not just looks. Voice, mannerisms, the whole package. It was that moment I knew I was going to be a fan forever. I’ve now seen him half dozen times, seen Page same amount. Tried to get Zeppelin tickets again, unsuccessfully. ☮️❤️😎🎼
I was a bit too young to make this show at the Garden in '73. Back then 14 year olds didn't go off to concerts on their own, plus finding out when the show was and standing in line to buy them was way different than now. My first Garden concert was Queen in 1980. You might want to check out this whole show. It was released in theaters in 1975 as "The Song Remains the Same".
This, of course, is from their legendary concert film “The Song Remains The Same”…of that 1973 show…..produced/ released in 1976. One of my favorite bands of all time…in my top two, actually.
Dude , "Since I ve been Loving You" from the same concert. Show stopper. But this entire concert is fire. Also, from Earl's Court, Trampled Underfoot and In my time of dying.
One thing about it they would start a song and you never know where it's gonna go!!!!.....TRULY AMAZING BAND!! I'm a 62 year old woman and absolutely love Zeppelin ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The time signatures of this song were even hard for Zeppelin. I'm not a musician but apparently their playing in different times that meet up every 12 beats??? Idk, something like that.😜
"THE WARNING" All my life Zeppelin was my favorite band. I'm 65 now and I found a band that is worth my time. The band is called "THE WARNING" if I were you I would check these 3 sisters from Mexico out. 19,22, 24yrs old. All 3 sing(in English) brother this is a special band. The wall of sound is next level. Rock... Try "DUST TO DUST/DULL KNIVES (Cut better) LIVE AT THE PEPSI CENTER CDMX OR EVOLVE LIVE AT THE MTV VMA'S 2023.. your missing out.. "You have been warned" 🌎✌️
How Many Mire Times is one of my favorite tunes by them because it’s hit such a great groove. Thanks for pointing out the bass line. John Paul Jones was great and is often overlooked for the other three.
You should check out John Farnham singing black dog as a sound check John ,his band and back up singers used this song as a warm up Amazing it was never used during a show
Steven, awesome video ! They are great ! If you'll listen to the studio version, where they all come in and do that run, listen closely, and you'll hear John do a quick click on the drum sticks and then they all cone in.
The bit of timing i love is the 5/4 section on guitar. Bonzo continues with 4/4 till they catch up. Page was unsure when bonzo suggested but it gives the song a great broken back feel.b
@@setonhillstudios I have heard other people with some musical experience state similar about Bonham playing behind the beat...it is noticeable in this song. Thanks for the reaction...i always enjoy your videos...is that what they are, videos? God i'm old. lol
Totally symbiotic. Page often followed Bonzo. When you listen to Page play his riffs (like Rock n Roll same concert) his accents and phrasing are timed perfectly against the drums for maximum impact - against that cracking snare or heavy bass drum beat - so it sounds way more syncopated and locked than if you just played it the way you think it sounds or follow a transcription. Really really great guitarists and bands do Zeppelin covers - eg Van Halen, Satch, Paul Gilbert, Slash - all technically cleaner players than Page - and all of those covers miss the magic. That’s what makes Zeppelin so unique - that funky deep pocket. Plus, I think there’s so much focus on Page the lead player, overlooking his incredible rhythm playing which is so locked in, with great timing, fills, chord inversions etc. I agree with this great reactor that Zep is a 4 piece unit including Page.
Hello dude Regarding the time signature(s)..... It's all very polymorphic ❤ It's primarily 4/4 With snap back for Percy in 9/8 and quick stops 5/8 for abrupt emphasis..... It's a right smorgasbord 😅 Great reactions from ya 👍👍
How Many More Times, live at the Royal Albert Hall, 1970. I like that show much better bc it's not spliced up like this one is for the movie. When Bonzo is going ham on the kit, the camera is right on him, or even behind him. The footage is so much better, imo. But hey, this is fire too. I won't hate on any Zep.
As a drummer, you should check out APRIL WINE , I LIKE TO ROCK, LIVE HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1981, JERRY MERCER'S DRUMMING IS THUNDEROUS WITH SEEMLESS GREAT CONTROL, you'll know what I mean if you watch it! All the best

I don’t believe it. Just gotta check that out and video to thank, you
Always prompts confusion this one. Check out 11yo Yoyoka playing it. She plays Bonham exceptionally well and by the way she is covering an earlier 1972 live performance, no edit. She did not read at the time and being live and Bonham her ability to get inside the band is uncanny.
I´m a drummer too, and for the groovy beat in a song, it is my opinion that especially the drummer and the bass player really need to work together. It doesn´t work with a methronome. Often the bass "drives" and the drums "hang" (sometimes it is the other way around). Just a little offbeat, we are talking milliseconds. That makes it groovy. There needs to be some "distance" in between, and there you go. Groovy! :)
@@setonhillstudios just check out all the true pro´s out there, when they are playing live. James Brown and Prince are two of my favorites. The musicians they had are marvels, all of them. Clyde Stubblefield (drummed a lot for Mr Brown) is an extreme. But there are modern examples too, like Parov Stelar - Catgroove [Donauinselfest 2020]. The bass/bassline drives, and the drummer is milliseconds behind = groove. No, these are not reaction suggestions, just one way to improve the "groove". "Hang" or "drive". All the best!
Oh I recognize this song now Becca 2012 August until May 1 was a vocal performance major at GRCC the choir director could sing a cool falsetto of this song well one time he did that he did the first verse before I could answer with the second verse I did the second verse and I looked at him and said and that wasn't falsetto he looked at me and went show off

Listen to the studio track and you can hear a single stick click to bring in the riff. Once we discovered that we had the timing flawless.
