  • Come with us this time to Edinburgh UK for a weekend experiencing the must see sights and some hidden gems!
    We stayed 2 nights at the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton, just by Waverley station for a perfect location between new and old town Edinburgh. Whilst not necessarily the best hotel in Edinburgh as say a boutique option, a trusty chain hotel is always idea for a hectic weekend of sightseeing where you spend little time there! Plus we'll tell you how we nabbed a room with a view of the iconic Balmoral Hotel and Carlton Hill.
    Staying just off the Royal Mile, we took in the sights of St.Giles' Cathedral, Victoria Street and Grassmarket. We also indulged with the famous hog roast at Oink Edinburgh, the rooftop terrace at Cold Town House and an amazing evening meal at Tattu Edinburgh.
    The next morning we started early to see Edinburgh Castle, followed by a walking tour taking in Princess Street Garden, the Ross Fountain and Scott Monument. Plus we take you to the more obscure spots of The Vennel and picturesque Dean Village for those iconic Edinburgh photo opportunities! We again headed to the New Town for our last dinner at Gaucho Edinburgh and show you some other great restaurant options.
    We finished our last morning with a gentle climb up Carlton Hill to enjoy the fantastic views and far less strenuous than the alternative hike to Arthur's Seat. Although we did not see all the things to do in Edinburgh city, we did tick off the must do highlights. This city has show much more to see so we will definitely be back to explore options such as Edinburgh Gin Distillery, The Johnny Walker Experience and Port of Leith. Plus are very tempted to try the Witchery - considered to be one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh

      Edinburgh is a very safe destination but when out and about please keep your valuables well out of reach. Unfortunately there is a blight of foreign pick pockets and tourists do tend to stand out a wee bit.

    Outstanding! I really love Edinburgh. It is one of my favorite Cities anywhere! This was one of the best videos of this magnificent City I have seen. You also showed a few different places here that I have not seen before. I also really loved that! Also, your filming was wonderful with an excellent Commentary as well. Thank you for sharing this delightful experience in the truly captivating City of Edinburgh!

      Thanks for the positive feedback! We visited in June so weather was at its best (for Scotland!) but still was be very changeable. Waterproof and layers is the best option - even I would not have been brave enough for shorts!!!

    I’d be interested to know just when you went to Edinburgh considering all the face masks still being worn. Yours is a pretty balanced overview for the first-time visitor. One small mistake was your mispronunciation of Cockburn Street: it’s actually pronounced ‘ko-burn’ in the same manner as the Port. For anyone visiting I’d recommend seeing the New Town. Also perhaps avoid going during the Festivals unless you’re going to attend events. If you head down to visit the statue of Greyfriars Bobby located at Greyfriars Kirkyard please don’t touch his snout. This is not an Edinburgh tradition but started in the last couple of decades by some misguided tour guide. It has resulted in considerable wear on this iconic wee statue. Finally I would avoid the tourist shops on the Royal Mile. They all are owned by the one company and sell poor quality tartan tat which is certainly not made in Scotland.

      @daleydepartures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Many thanks for the feedback and apologies for the mispronunciation! Our channel was delayed launching for over a year and this was one of the earliest videos we filmed. It was in June at the tail end of the last covid Covid restrictions however have tried to edit to show current experiences would still be relevant. We are pleased to say we will be back in Edinburgh later this year for the Christmas markets and showcase some different sides to this amazing city than the usual tourist hotspots!

      @@daleydeparturesJust in case you are not clear, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is not the whole of the festival. The original Festival was, and still is, called The Edinburgh International Festival. This is the "festival proper" which started in 1947. It is a series of "high culture" performances by opera, ballet, orchestras, dance, and theatre companies,etc. They can feature world famous orchestras and ballet companies such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Bolshoi Ballet, and world famous classical musicians such as pianists Lang Lang and Mitsuko Uchida. Shortly after the official festival began, performers with no official invite to the festival, many of them University revue groups, such as The Cambridge Footlights and others, would arrive in the City when the official Festival was on the go. They would perform in any available venue, such as church haĺls. These informal groups of performers became known as the Festival Fringe. Many of today's well known performers, such as John Cleese and Michael Palin originally performed in the Fringe. Since then, the Fringe has grown enormously, to the point where it has dwarfed the official Festival. A surprising number of people don't know that the official Festival exists. All they have heard about is this thing called "The Edinburgh Fringe Festival ".
