A giant version of Leonardo da Vinci's famous sketch 'Vitruvian Man' depicted melting from the sea ice into the Arctic Ocean has been constructed just 800 kilometres from the North Pole, as a call for urgent action on climate change.
Greenpeace-commissioned artist John Quigley, travelling on board the
Arctic Sunrise, made the massive 'Melting Vitruvian Man' -- the size
of four Olympic-sized swimming pools -- to draw attention to how climate
change is causing the rapid melting of sea ice to outstrip predictions.
All materials were removed after construction and the copper will be reused.

A great metaphor for our challenging times! Congratulation to John Quigley and the many who made this work of art and resistance possible!

@axeluk We have now added this information in the video description. Thank you for asking this question - it should indeed have been more clear from the start.

@axeluk The copper wasn't left there. We took it back with us to recycle.

That's a lot of $ worth of Copper.
I am interested in videos documenting GreenPeace working in D.C. and videos that can organize all of us environmentalists to become active in our hometowns.

We didn't state it because it's an obvious behavior for us, to recycle. When something comes that natural without thinking then it can be hard at times to see it the way others see it. The obviousness of recycling it has now been added to the video.

@Ruben00021 Toxicity is only a question of dosage. (Even water is toxic if you drink too much!)
I'm glad you're so confident that GP are recycling the copper used. I just find it strange that they didn't state this in the video.

What happens to all the copper sheeting once the iceberg melts? I hope its not going to further pollute the ocean!

@axeluk Copper is not poisonous ... don't be ridiculous. Also, I'm pretty sure the copper was taken back again, as it's quite a valuable material.

good but isnt it the time when the arctic snow caps melt anyway? how do u truly relate it to global warming when this phenomenon is natural to happen, should have done it in winter? or may be some other time not end of the hot season? may be i am wrong.

What was the helicopter flying on and what fuel did that big ship use to get there?
Rather than wasting all that money (my money as well, as I am a greenpeace supporter) in making this video that you and me can watch (1700 views is such a little number in proportion to your effort by the way) maybe we should concentrate more on encouraging people to develop new accessible technologies.
In that way you would draw attention and provide a solution to the problem!

Our bodies don't have an addiction to meat it has a requirement for meat (or greater quantities of proteins). That is the reason why Humans are called Omnivores not Herbivores.

There is only one solution atm, Solar energy plants in Africa! And than producing H² and using those special power lines they created.
My opinion is that CO2 is hardly our main problem. The earth has seen worth warming effect. What is most alarming, is the polution of the ocean with not just chemicals but noise too. And the overpopulation of this world by humans! Thosa are even greater threads that the minor CO2 increase.
