Good work Greenpeace. That IS bloody brilliant... and hilarious! Campaigns to get people to understand the issue, cause and effect, doesn't seem to be working out too well. Probably because the majority of people don't have the wherewithal to fully grasp it. This message speaks simply. Nice work
Matel (the manufacturers of Barbie) destroys the rainforest to make packaging for their products. Greenpeace (the uploader of the video) is informing us that Matel does this. I think you hope that Matel gets sued for destroying our natural rainforests because they do affect the environment in a bad way. Greenpeace was simply informing us about an issue that concerns us all- no harm done!
"Did you ever think of Barbie as a serial killer?" HAHAHA But yeah seriously, why are they asking us to help Ken when he's probably wrapped in the same stuff?
Greenpeace did the same thing with Dove and it's use of palm oil...and it worked. Dove now heads an organization that encourages the use of sustainable, responsible palm oil companies...they've become leaders in the fight against deforestation...hopefully Mattel will follow suit. To sue over copyright would just draw more attention to their irresponsible practices. Go Greenpeace!
They're not saying Barbie actually does it, as Barbie is the most popular toy in Mattel, they make a metaforical thing, saying that she did it to make people understand and see the good people might be bad too
@blackdot550 Just because Greenpeace highjacked a branded image that was developed for little kids doesn't mean the campaign itself was meant for little kids. This video was released through media outlets which target adults, namely youtube, vimeo, the organization's site, twitter handle, etc. There are tons of spoofs/parodies of children-themed content that is meant for adults. (Ever heard of the show Avenue Q?) It's not like Greenpeace paid to have this aired during cartoon commercials.
@renewindy But it turns out to be like this in real. They use that kind of wood in their packages. FSC is a bit more expensive, but it's more friendly than rain forest wood.
@21piecesofBlue That's true, there's a lot of companies actively trying to become more green, and all the more power to them, but I'd think if Greenpeace spent this ad money (time and effort) on a green package, then brought it to Mattel so that Mattel can turn around and brag about how "green" their packages are.. it'd be better overall for all companies involved.
@potentialpenguin U are definitely reading into it. Barbie is a piece of plastic and when I was a kid she only came in a White version so I don't know where you get the notion that she was inspiring or identifiable. In fact, as a 7 year old her gigantic breasts frightened me and I always wondered why her legs didn't touch together but mine did. So maybe to super skinny, tall, white women she was an icon but certainly not the rest of woman kind. Even as a kid I hated plastic. Greenpeace is great!
@shortytmg Never said that humans weren't contributing to extinctions, never said we weren't having a huge impact on the Earth; you're missing my point. My point is simply that no matter what happens, it is physically impossible to completely destroy the Earth with our current technology. No matter what occurrence, even our own influence, the Earth will always have the capability to return to normal. It would take thousands, hundreds of thousands of years, but the Earth will heal itself.
It made me chuckle in a few places - has anyone see the generals by appleflea? Its a stop motion music video set during a nuclear war, made with barbies, action man/gi joes, and many other childhood toys like kermit, the teletubbies, snoopy, wheres wally and many others - even Gaga, Jackson and the Grim Reaper funk out and cut shapes - best viewed on full screen though to get the full experience, its f*** funny :D
Indonesia has the most rapid rate of deforestation in the world. Thank you Greenpeace for raising awareness with this. We got to take action. I hope we can also raise awareness in China too.
@james10614 No they don't. ~946,080,000 barbies are sold every year, all packaged in paper from APP. That's too much old growth rainforest being cut down, it must be stopped.
Well, not surprised that a Barbie destroys rainforest to "wear" cheaper packaging. Cutting corners with the environment is one of the markers of our culture, the culture where Barbie is an icon. Up until now Barbie has symbolized what the body should look like - and now she even symbolizes what the body should behave like.
@shortytmg In order to completely obliterate this entire planet would take an enormous force that would equate to that of a planet with at least a slightly smaller mass than that of Earth. That's a lot of force, and I don't think Mankind is currently plotting up a way to come up with that type of force. However, this video is on a different topic. I'm pretty sure that cutting down a few trees is not going to destroy the planet; it will destroy the atmosphere though, I don't argue with that.
well it won't be that hard to find out think about how they make boxes and papers? trees but i didn't get why she'd kill those animals poor lil ones :'C
Instead of spending all this money on a PSA such as this, couldn't Greenpeace use the money instead to develop a green packaging for Mattel? Then give them a better solution for their packaging problems, instead of trying to point fingers and make everyone look and feel bad?
@potentialpenguin Well, isn't the fact that kids have Barbie as a role model a shame? Yes, it does mean a lot to some kids, but it's truly a shame that their idols are based on an unrealistic or unattainable state? I wonder how much more Barbie (and its ideals) damages the minds and self-esteems of little girls than give them joy...
How long till Mattel threaten to sue everyone into oblivion unless this is taken down. I 'd reckon 48 hours. Hope I am wrong, but they are ruthless when it comes to the Barbie brand.
@shortytmg I just say live and let live. All I'm telling people is to do the best they can to do their part, but not to go out of loop for a cause that most likely has little influence over the forces that are really 'driving us towards' extinction.
Oh Ken, this is why I loved you even at Toy Story 3. Anyway, this is like a serious matter. Right now we are going green with "green"-based products... So why can we do the same to toy packaging? This is just sad, I tell ya. :( (And I prefer ponies over that blonde chick I know in my childhood.)

'Did you ever think of Barbie as a serial killer?'
There's a phrase I never thought I'd hear.
That pink velour tracksuit with the marabou trim
Good work Greenpeace. That IS bloody brilliant... and hilarious! Campaigns to get people to understand the issue, cause and effect, doesn't seem to be working out too well. Probably because the majority of people don't have the wherewithal to fully grasp it. This message speaks simply. Nice work

Off topic here, but I would've liked to hear about this film that Barbie and Ken had planned before their breakup.
AMEN.
That scream tho😂😂😂😂😨💀😰😂😂😂
Lol
True
Dude why did you beep that swear ?
how did blood come out of the computer ...XDD lol
How did blood come out of that computer?
classic animation
amongus toys are possibly in packaging made out of the homes of many orangatangs
I rember seeing this as a kid being so confused
I get the msg coming across here but omg !! It was hylarious him screaming & at the end he's like "f****** b**** !!" lol
They do, 50% of its packaging is from the rainforest
Lolol! I love this! I wanna see the video and pictures the interviewer showed Ken though lol.
"Did you ever think of Barbie as a serial killer?" HAHAHA
But yeah seriously, why are they asking us to help Ken when he's probably wrapped in the same stuff?
@ThisIsTheMusicTV I MEANT: 'I don't HATE Barbie'
Well done GP..
Love it! Ken reminds me of Prince Charming from Shrek!
Brilliant.
I guess shoppies from shopkins packings are not made from flocking indonesian rain forest
They're not saying Barbie actually does it, as Barbie is the most popular toy in Mattel, they make a metaforical thing, saying that she did it to make people understand and see the good people might be bad too
It's kind of wild that this has to be said and pointed out for some people haha
I am in tears this is so hysterical!!!!!!!!!!!
Very well done ~ Thanks, Greenpeace!
But Ken was made using that same packaging as well...
Why is't only Mattel? MGA uses the same material to wrap their toys too
This should have been for the Barbie movie
thats what im saying that would be hilarious and funny
@@cakeisbad5989 to promote the movie. Or mentioned by someone in the Real World about how they hate Barbie there
When he screamed I busted out laughing. I'm sorry.
So did I! 😂😂😂😂😂
+Pony Girls Lol 😂
Please make Among Us deforestation video
but whats the story? Theres no plastic in among us I think
THanks must go to the latest toy story for putting forward the brilliant characterisation of Ken
@blackdot550 Just because Greenpeace highjacked a branded image that was developed for little kids doesn't mean the campaign itself was meant for little kids. This video was released through media outlets which target adults, namely youtube, vimeo, the organization's site, twitter handle, etc.

fortunatlly, Mattel resolved the problem of packaging just like Lego and Shell breakup.
@renewindy But it turns out to be like this in real. They use that kind of wood in their packages. FSC is a bit more expensive, but it's more friendly than rain forest wood.
Thank you Greenpeace! Mattel stopped supporting App! =)
how does chopping a tree on the computer make blood?
@21piecesofBlue That's true, there's a lot of companies actively trying to become more green, and all the more power to them, but I'd think if Greenpeace spent this ad money (time and effort) on a green package, then brought it to Mattel so that Mattel can turn around and brag about how "green" their packages are.. it'd be better overall for all companies involved.
This is an amazing video. Fantastic job!
One manly scream
1:07
His scream !!! I'm dying XDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I like it how he holds the pillow the whole time
@adounas Its EVIDENT that the paper provided from rainforest destruction is cheaper than from a "normal" three cuting place.. -_-
This should be on TV
I can't understand what Ken says after the journalist says "I guess you haven’t heard about Barbie.".
So that's why they broke up.
It 's not true
I hope that was dirt.
ahhahah great! I wanna see the Barbie's video!!! I don't have Barbie but Mattel must be more 'environmental friendly'...
Great animation! Great Campaign!
How much electricity did Greenpeace use/waste on making this video?
They arent?
@potentialpenguin U are definitely reading into it. I'M TELLING MY SCIENCE TEACHER ABOUT THIS. XD Stop Deforestation!!!!
This is well done
@CAYOMluver it's not from any film. greenpeace made this.
Oh don't tell me she's been wearing that pink velour tracksuit with the marabou trim!
hahahaha ;)
I know it's a serious issue, but could not stop laughing at this :3

And his scream is really funny😂.
this will scare the hell out of little kids...
@james10614 No they don't. ~946,080,000 barbies are sold every year, all packaged in paper from APP. That's too much old growth rainforest being cut down, it must be stopped.
Mattel should get on the environmentally friendly wagon and start aiming for zero waste.
I love the random spray of blood... from the computer screen.
Dammit Green piece make another video. One where Barbie continues going about in denial.
Love this video! Go greenpeace!
Wait what did barbie do
Animal Lovin Ken,hmm...is it me or is the second reason for using that version of Ken because of Toy Story 3?
I really like it..That way they can even reach children and make them understand..That's at least what I hope..Well done Greenpeace!
Even though I don't support Green Peace, this video is pretty funny.
Did blood come out of the screen at 1:06? Tf?

how u this..?? i really want 2 know!
Lo mejor de Lo mejor....Greenpace me encanto, esta super.
I saw someone else say earlier, "Isn't Ken packaged in the same type of boxes as Barbie?" lol
I do not get the video.it is not opproppiete for little kids!!
Y should we help ken I think he realizes that he's also in the packaging to not just barbie
i want to see the pictures and video!
@shortytmg

AWESOME video!!!
"Oh its over that BEEP" *_* That well harsh :P
Save our World from corporate greed
love iiittt. good animation as well :)
This is the best ever I see
Instead of spending all this money on a PSA such as this, couldn't Greenpeace use the money instead to develop a green packaging for Mattel? Then give them a better solution for their packaging problems, instead of trying to point fingers and make everyone look and feel bad?
Amazing video!!!!
When it comes to love... for Ken it's Forest over bush.
@potentialpenguin Well, isn't the fact that kids have Barbie as a role model a shame? wow, good job with the new marketing campaign
Seriously?
awesome... sent off a letter just now. This has to end!
lmfao, if they ever make a toy story 4, they better add this plot to the movie.
@shortytmg
I just say live and let live. All I'm telling people is to do the best they can to do their part, but not to go out of loop for a cause that most likely has little influence over the forces that are really 'driving us towards' extinction.
Looks like something from Robot Chicken.
I dun understand why Ken was appeared in this interview? Isn't he from the same company as Barbie and is wrapped up by the same package????
Btw last I looked Ken used just as much packaging as Barbie lol ijs
