I was blessed with the opportunity to have met Mr.Uecker multiple times. Back in the 70's growing up in Milwaukee, we used to go to a LOT of Brewers games. Afterwards the players, managers, and other members of the organization would come out of the office area to the players/employees parking lot. It wasn't fenced off, or blocked in any way. Bob Uecker used to come out by the office door. I remember us kids running up to him and he always had time for us. He always had time to sign autographs for us kids and maybe tell us a joke or a story. There's a song that says, "Don't know what you got till it's gone." With Bob Uecker we knew what we had, a legendary man, a great friend of baseball, a true fan, player, and in my opinion one of the all-time best announcers in Baseball's history. This hurts. He meant so much to so many fans. But he also did a lot for the game of baseball and his fans. 🙏🕊RIP🙏🕊 Bob.
In the last few days since his death I have watched several interviews of Ueck but this one here is by far the best that I have seen. It was also good to see Jim Peck again, I haven't seen him in a long time. Thanks so much for posting this gem!
I'm really not sure why this passing stands out so much.I remember Bob from the Tonight Show.and found him very funny. I heard him call games later and found him excellent. Bobs appeal is everyone knows him. Not directly, there is a Bob in your family or a Bob at work. Bob strikes a cord in me and I think in everyone of a person we will miss.
My Mom used to love to come to the Brewers games with us at 🏟County🏟Stadium🏟 during the 70's. She was always patient with me since after the games I always wanted to wait out by the players parking lot for Autographs. She was always, well almost always willing. As I mentioned before I was blessed with the opportunity to meet Bob Uecker. As well as George Bamberger, Harvey Kuenn, Harry Dalton, and even Bug Selig. Plus close to every Brewers players from 1977-1984. There was one person, one man who always had time for us kids. If he didn't he'd explain why. He was always there for the fans, especially kids. Bob Uecker LOVED BASEBALL, and he loved seeing kids who loved the game like he did. He was in my opinion the all-time best announcer in Baseball's history. Granted I'm a bit biased, but he goes beyond legendary. But more importantly Bob Uecker was a GREAT MAN. A GREAT PERSON. A WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING. His dedication to the game of ⚾️Baseball⚾️ is second to none. I grew up with his calls on the radio. I remember back when again it was the 70's. The winter was slowly S L O W L Y ending and Spring Training was about to start. I'd get my Baseball Magazines. 1978 started a upswing in the Brewers success. I remember the first Spring Training game. I had my radio 📻radio📻 on, Bob Uecker was talking about the upcoming season. The lineups were announced and, "Play Ball!" was called. I have so many wonderful childhood memories that are because of the Brewers. Whether it was listening to Spring Training games on the radio. Or getting 🤧🤒🥶🤧"sick"🤧🥶🤒🤧 on Opening Day so I could listen to the game. Or spending many summer days and nights at Milwaukee County Stadium watching the Brewers play. Those are ALL special memories, wonderful times, they were the best. Meeting your childhood heroes, Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Gorman Thomas, Ben Oglive, Jim Gantner, Charlie Moore, Lary Sorenson, Moose Haas, Billy Travers, Bob McClure, Eddie Romero, Pete Vuckovich, Pete Ladd, Sixto Lezcano, Don Money, Sal Bando, and my all-time favorite player Mike Caldwell! After the 1978 season he gave me his home team Game worn ⚾️🧢⚾️Baseball⚾️🧢Cap🧢⚾️🧢. Cecil Cooper was the one player who was not a big fan of signing autographs after the games. But Bob Uecker on the other hand was always willing to make time for the fans, especially the kids. Which is why these memories are so important to me, so precious, and such a special time in my life. 🙏🕊🙏RIP🕊Mister🙏Baseball🙏🕊🙏 and THANK YOU.
This does hurt, I was going to write to Bob (just recently here) and let him know the impact the he had on my life. The humor, all the Carson shows, just everything. I had the address on the envelope, but I had not yet completed the letter. Life is so fleeting, I'm not exactly sure what Heaven is like or if Bob can even know how much I liked him. I lost my own Father at a very early age, in some ways he really filled in some of those gaps. Thank you "Mr. Baseball Bob Eucker" very very much .. Thank you for sharing this video! Any idea the year this interview was taped, never mind 1998 ..
Jim Peck the host of the short lived ABC game show SPLIT SECOND. When he was younger back then he strongly in voice and facial appearance, reminded me of the DIRTY JOBS host, MIKE ROWE. R.I.P. , BOB UECKER..
Possibly the best interview that he did. Thank you.
