    Uecker wasn't just a treasure to Milwaukee, he was treasured throughout Wisconsin, and in many parts of America. Uecker is a perfect example of the American Dream, a man who came out of no where and lived larger than life.
    God bless Bob Uecker!

      He was someone that was always there. The word of his passing was a good punch. He was to baseball.What chick Hearn It was too basketball. He was such a marvelous man and to know he's not here anymore With us is a bit unsettling. I'm so thankful we lived at the same time he did.

    Wisconsin kid here. Bob Uecker was the voice of my childhood. I have known his voice pretty much all of my life. Started listening to the Brewers in 1981. I never realized how great I had it. Yount, Cooper, Molitor on the field and Uecker doing the games. I took it for granted. It was grand.

    This has been like losing a family member for me. I've listened to Bob Uecker calling Brewers games since I was a kid. Just an amazing human being who you thought would live forever. His legacy surely will. We all love you Bob. More than you'll ever know. Rest Easy Goat

    • @jesusoftheapes
      @jesusoftheapes 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I did not think he should live forever. WE knew last season was Bob's last shot at a Series. Christian knew it , Bob knew it and the Brewers knew it. When Alonzo hit Williams Bob died in the booth that night. We heard him die in live time. WE all knew he would never see another baseball game given his lung cancer had gotten out of control and Kemo was not working anymore.

    I was driving in my car out in New York for a wedding when I heard him broadcast the end of the dramatic heart-breaking Brewers playoff loss to the Mets in October. I'm from Milwaukee. As bad as it was for the Brew Crew to lose that way, it was equally heart-breaking to hear Bob's voice. He was very professional about it, but you could tell it hit him very hard. RIP Ueck.

      There were a lot of those years too. But it didn't seem to matter listening to Uecker. During televised games, we'd watch with the sound off and listen to him on the radio.

    • @garylaviolette5853
      @garylaviolette5853 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That worked until they put a satellite delay on TV broadcasts. Then the radio didn't sync with the TV. Same with Packer games.

    • @Steve-yu6wk
      @Steve-yu6wk 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @garylaviolette5853 it actually worked for us. We would listen while doing something else and as soon as we'd hear Uecker's voice get excited, we'd watch it on the TV since there was a 5-8 second delay.

    A great loss!! Bob Costas and Bob Uecker were incredibly funny together!! Costas would stop by the booth when he was in Milwaukee. They'd call a few innings together as they told stories. I asked Costas about this when he was at The Red Smith Banquet. He and Uke had recently discussed this. They really were very complementary of one another. Loved listening to Uke on the radio. He brought a spirit to the broadcast. Rest in peace, Uke.

    As for the state of Wisconsin and the impact, I live three hours north of Milwaukee and our local wrestling team had a moment of silence for him before the match started. That’s the kind of impact this man had on our state and our people. I for one had convinced myself that he was immortal and yesterday would never happen, and I don’t think I’m alone with that thought. Opening Day 2025 will be one tough day for sure. 💛💙

    Like most around my age who grew up with the Brewers, we've been listening to the legend our entire lives. After suffering the generally unbearable winters in Wisconsin, it was the arrival of Spring Training and hearing Uke on the radio, that it was clear summer would only be another six or seven short months away. I only wish he could have called one Brewers World Series championship.
    Milwaukee baseball will never be the same.

    Ever since I got Sirius/XM at home and in the truck, Uecker's games were a must hear when my team wasn't playing. It always felt like I was at the ballpark when he did games. Vin Scully was the only other play-by-play announcer that could do that for me. I always prayed for a blowout game so I could listen to his stories. Long road trips will have an big, empty space this summer. Thank you, Bob.

He's such and icon there (as he should be.). He clearly is in a class that's unique.. up there with Jack Buck, Ernie Harwell, Red Barber, Vin Scully.. but at the same time can be mentioned with others like George Carlin and Robin Williams.. a very unique place to be.

    It's pretty crazy because I called this after the last game they lost to Arizona. When that home run was hit and Bob had to announce it, it literally sounded like a piece of him died. And then after the game, when Christian Yelich and him were embracing and crying, I knew. I told everyone we're not going to see Bob back next year. So this was kind of expected for me, doesn't make it hurt any less. You will be missed forever, Mr. Baseball. As a fellow Cheesehead we lost a LEGEND!!! His voice was always the harbinger of summer for me and many others. I'm glad he got to live a wonderful life doing what he loved with people he loved.

It felt he was talking to US and also felt like he was talking ME. It could be a 15-2 game in the 8th inning and I would still listen because it was the most entertaining hilarious time that he would broadcast. I already miss him so much. Those of us of a specific generation always enjoyed listening to Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese call games for the Game of the Week during the early 60s. I'd work in the garden all morning just to get a chance to watch them while I shelled peas and butter beans. Uecker was one of the great announcers I always enjoyed watching even though not necessarily a Brewers fan, but I became one thanks to Ueck. And never missed him on Carson and the celebrity roasts he did. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten by many of us ol' farts.

    Little known in Uecker's resume is his spot in the movie "Fatal Instinct". He does the play-by-play of a nutty courtroom scene, completely improvising as the action is happening. The DVD of the movie has a couple outtakes from that scene, and you can hear the crew laughing as he finishes.

    I spent so many hours sitting on the riverbank with Ueck playing on the radio next to me. This one stings.

    No matter what is said about this legend, he was good enough to make it into the major league. Very few can say that.
